Nonu will put out when he feels like it. You can’t blame him. He’s earned his retirement. Gets paid to travel, live in the States for a while, and see the sights. Have a few beers with the boys. The other players, if they are bright enough, will learn from his experience and maybe start to see the game the way he does. But no, he is not international calibre anymore and he wouldn’t help the All Blacks. I hope he enjoys this level of rugby and doesn’t get injured by some wannabe gunslinger.
@@therugbyfanatic3379, he’s 40 years old FFS! Already played in Japan, France, four clubs in NZ, for the All Blacks, and for the Barbarians. Played in two World Cups. He doesn’t owe the game anything, and deserves to coast along in the US before official retirement.
@@garywagner2466 exactly, which is why there’s no point for videos saying he’s still world class. They’re just trying to hype their league up. Nonu is in my opinion the best 12 of all time.

He 100% should of been the starting 12 at the last RWC. I saw him play that year against the blues and he absolutely destroyed Anton Leinert-Brown to cross the line. He was in the best shape of his life after going vegetarian. His passing game had also evolved vastly. The selectors made huge mistakes in the side they selected for the RWC in regards to the starting wings and the exclusion of Nonu.
Agree bro...he played hard in that game just to make a statement hes still number 1 but unfortunately all blacks didnt pick him and chose the injured sonny bill who wasnt in form that year and didnt play much for the blues
Agree bro. He and Anton should have been the midfield. I think the Ab's are now realising that releasing Laumape to play o/seas was a bad idea cause he was actually next in line. Complete stuff up by the coaching staff
I was shocked that he hadn't been selected. His form for the blues that year was tremendous. It was like it was still 2015! A midfield combination of Ryan Crotty and Ma'a Nonu would have brought stability to the backline that Lienart Brown and Goodhue were too inexperienced to offer.
@@brutismaximus1 yes last year. Only if you stood down from the last one for atleast 3 years. And only players from tier 1 teams can switch tier 2 not tier 1 to tier 1

You can see how far MLR has to go just by the game footage and attendance. I'd put money on an SA varsity 3rd team to comfortably beat any MLR team that doesn't have field ex-national players. In fact, let the MLR team field them - it'd still be a drubbing
It’s a new competition in a continent that rugby is irrelevant in. The team salary caps are laughable. I don’t know what you get from disparaging this. Surely more professional avenues in a new area is a good thing for the game?
Time to hang up the boots dude, as yer gona get seriously injured one of these days !! Respect all the same, but as someone that played the game into his fifties, Jasus but it hurts getting up in the morning and the children wonder why the old man can barely walk to the toilet 😂 😂 ….
Conrad smith was what made nonu. Nonu was a liability on defence but snake covered for him. Conrad smith was the brains behind the ABs midfield that they can’t replace. They could replace nonu with laumape, he’s like a dead set replica of nonu. Problem is u can’t replace a guy like Conrad smith.
I disagree , you have a short memory for a good part of his career his defensive misreads would cost the Abs try’s. What’s the point of breaking the line to make try’s if on the next play you’re going to cost the team a try?
You even look at this highlights reel, and there was like one clip highlighting his defence chasing down a man. Hardly and imposing clip to showcase his defensive prowess you speak of.🤷♂️
