  • The Wild West as pure as it gets. Join David and Holly as they traverse the state of Wyoming from the Montana border down to the Colorado border in this 8 part series taking you through the beauty of Wyoming like you have possibly never seen before. From Western towns to beautiful mountain overlooks, this series has it all for the adventurist in all of us.
The BDR is an off-road discovery route created by the ladies and gentlemen at ridebdr.com. Backcountry Discovery Routes is a 501c3 non-profit organization created to preserve and expand off-road routes through states for the enjoyment of motorcycle and 4x4 enthusiasts alike. The Wyoming BDR is their 11th installment of routes throughout the US.
Please consider these routes as precious as many go through private land and must be respected in order to remain available to the public. Pack out what you pack in. Tread lightly caring not to damage the trails and roads that the locals rely on to do their work on a daily basis. We are but passing through, they must live with those consequences. Keep that in mind as we pass through their lands.

It was a pleasure meeting you at the Hatchet Overland booth at Overland Expo Mountain West. I really liked your setup. The biggest hangup for me remains whether I am willing to give up carrying my dual sport motorcycle while traveling. Being able to take my "home" into more remote places would be wonderful though.

I really had a good time at OX Mountain and happy you were able to stop by. I definitely understand the challenge of wanting to carry all your toys with you. I have been trying to determine a way to do something similar.. If it is a pure dirt bike (200lbs or so) then you have quite a few trailer options that could work in an off road environment if you customized accordingly. I have a friend who just got a jeep and is going to have a rear hitch mount for his dirt bike (not enduro) which with proper changes to the hitch can do so and still maintain good off-road characteristics. I have a BMW R1200GSA so that is not an option for me. In fact, due to how much I have chosen to travel in the jeep this past year and intend to next year I am planning to sell my BMW and consider an off-road e-bike or similar. The reality is as much as I travel and enjoy the travel, I'm having more fun in the jeep than I have recently had on the bike. Doesn't mean I want to give up motorcycling but more that the enjoyment I was getting from a big bike off-road has been able to be replaced by the Jeep. So now I'm looking for something that is a different experience.
Sorry, no idea why I gave you that diatribe, I think because its still sinking in that I'm selling my bike and it was more for me than you quite possibly lol. Anyway, its a great camper if you decide to go that route and a decent trailer could give you the best of both worlds.. who knows :).. If you look at Epic Family Road Trip they hook bikes to the back of theirs, so its doable. Cheers!

@@aMAYSingLife We had a similar conversation at OX and I can see the struggle in real 😅. I can see how one experience (Jeep travel) might satisfy the need for the other (dual sport travel); however, I haven't convinced myself of that yet. At least I now know the Hatchet top is a viable option for me if I decide to drop the TW200 (@ 300-lbs).
