Ahh! My dad had the first batch of the waja. They were rushing to get the car into the market so much so that the engine beauty cover only got fitted after 6 or so months on its first service. For the first 30000kms, the car went through 2 sets of rear shock absorbers as they kept failing. And my dad’s daily commute was not even of unpaved roads. The service centre did note that they had an issue with the first batch of shock absorbers but no recall was made. Subsequently the gear shifter button sprung out one fine day, again another warranty claim, and then the steering wheel buttons popped off and somehow my dad managed to get it replaced under warranty despite the car already out of warranty by then. Apart from that, drove great. Had my first prang in it. 😅
Wow!! That's a great trip down memory lane bud, thanks for sharing!! I had the same issue with the gearshift button, I think I've changed it three or four times in 17yrs, haha!!😆
Nice one Chris, good to see the Waja again. My 2010 Waja is a keeper and still fit as a spare car and in my case I would probably say thanks Proton cause mine is a CPS, haha
My dad’s Waja is the 2006 1.6 campro (non cps) manual , easy to maintain. Previously I changed to 16 inch wheels and Sachs Abs. Eventually I reverted to original 15 inch rims and KYB shocks for comfort.
I hope that somebody who buy the Saga will look after it and drive it always ya don't just buy and park it for collection😄😄 if i was in Selangor sure i will shake your hand and buy it but since i can't do that so i wish the car is in good hand.. sorry chris i have to say that because im in love with the saga and as you know i also own 1 but the aeroback megavalve 1.5i. I hope that i can show you the photo of my car.. cheers
Ayy, good to see the ol Waja again.. Those dreaded central aircond vents 🤣 I changed mine to the round ones because those ones cant direct the air to the passenger 🤷🏼♂️
Hey Chris, i just wanted to ask you about the open pod filter. Do you have any pictures of the waja with the open pod installed? In the process of restoring one at the moment and i just can’t seem to find any photos of one (decent photos) using them. Thanks 🙏🏼☺️
I can only recommend the MMC variant cos that's the one I have, the powertrain package is really good, Kon had the Campro iirc, he loved it too, so the choice is yours bud 😉
I missed my 2001 Waja MMC, really comfortable and good performance..at that time 170-180 selamba...but the only drawback is the poor finishing especially door handle & steering audio control button that need to be replaced 😅
This waja is worth keeping. It carries plenty of memories from day one 😉 Please do not sell it, in fact it's an auto so your child or grandchild can borrow too ☺
Absolutely right! But they gonna have to wrestle me for the keys...hahahaha!! She's a really good spare "go-to" car to have around, the one that never fails 😊👍🏽🙏🏽
Land area can park more than 12 cars?. Btw, I have one new wira from year 1998 for RM46k. Sold it 16 years later. This car is longest I kept bought new. Main problem is the plastic parts in throttle valve body. Regards.
Thanks for the feedback bud!! 90s Wiras were still okay, I had one too, a 1.5 sedan auto, I dare say its interior components were better than this, quality and tactile-feel wise 😊
I hope the saga and picanto find a good owner that will carry on taking good care of it . But then i will not be surprise one day you might buy it back again .. LOL !!!
Nah, my colleague long ago bought a G2 new, and she had numerous problems with it, from the get go, brand new. It would not have survived well after all these years. Consider a Satria 1.3 or a Wira 1.5, those were better built and have survived much better 😊👍🏽
Hi Chris , ive used the first waja when it was first launched, with the 4G18 engine. Can tell you it has power and the best handling. The only issue of the first model was the front seats tigh support and the aircon vents positioning. Other then
Thanks for the feedback bro, nice! Yep, ride and handling, plus chassis rigidity are two things I'm thankful to Proton for, as mentioned in the closed-captions 👍🏽🙏🏽😊

I traded the Rays on this Waja for these Breytons at Kenzone in Kelana Jaya, the ori Waja alloys are at home, haha! U can check with them about new rims, they have many to choose from, talk to Ken 👍🏽🙏🏽😊
An Australian based UA-camr I follow, he does deal with old cars on occassion, mentions it's good to have a so called "Nugget Shepard", something modern(or -ish) and reliable that starts, runs and goes. Hi Chris. Those rims are still looking lovely. What models were from the 10 dark years? I love my Neo but I don't understand how that car made it to production. The powertrain is terrible. Lack of power and it drinks more than an alcoholic on a bender. And the interior is the worst I've ever seen on any car. I mean the first generation Kancil had better quality plastics. I love it but God that's a horrible car.
Thanks!! Love these Breytons on the Waja, suits the design I reckon. The Dark Years encompass any car they made from 2000 to 2010 or thereabouts bud, sadly. Any Proton from that era with lots of local-content was shiversomely bad 😔
@@ChrisWeevilGarage I adjusted the radio volume using the steering wheel controls and the panel holding the buttons broke. To say those plastics suck is an understatement. If you remember, those Breytons came from this Neo. Hahaha. Glad you love em.
Hahahaha!! Oh my, and I thought I was being harsh! Well, they're not far off, some of the components used in this car really are junk, even when brand new, what more after 17yrs, lol!!😆

Howdy! Back then the Waja was their C-segment car iirc, Perdana was D-seg 😊
