I saw something about the symbiote from the main timeline and they said that the way they put it in the trailer was to trick us to build up to something

Actually, the actor Chiwetel Ejiofor (who played Mordo in Doctor Strange movies in the MCU) is playing a different character as the military soldier.
Plus, the premise of the film is Eddie Brock and the symbiote Venom go on the run when they are hunted by both of their worlds.
Also, another thing is that to be quite fair: you do have other Venom comics back in the 90s, that were goofy as well. So I think that why Sony going that tone in the live-action films because of it.
Overall, I'm going to see it in theaters in October, plus, also, I'm not expecting those films to be groundbreaking or whatnot, it's one of those movies just to have fun, and have a good time. 👽🖤😈🎬💥

It's a major plot hole cuz, they left the symbiote behind in the MCU. Hopefully they take that scene out...
