Never could have humanity predicted that people would listen to a track from a 1994 video game about two monkeys avoiding sharks underwater for 10 hours and try to decipher the universe.
When I was 6 years old and couldn't sleep, I'd turn on my Snes and go to this level and leave it paused and let it soothe me to sleep. 19 years later, my wife and I use it to put our 1 month old son to sleep. Still blissfull
Try listening to Fortress of Lies, Ruined City (medium) from Nier Automata, His Dream from Nier Gestalt/Replicant or Somnus or Noctis from FFXV. I highly recommend those and they're relaxing af. Maybe your son will enjoy them
I recently bought waterproof earbuds to listen to this while snorkeling. It’s now a bucket list item crossed off, and confirms that the music of angels really does sing underwater.
Are those earbuds specific made to be used under water? cuz all the water proof electronics i know are made to resist only a few splashes or a few minutes in water
@@Vyend I have some JBL Endurance earbuds. Have a built in mp3 player and can be used for swimming fully submerged and they're fairly cheap. Bluetooth doesn't go through water so you have to get the standalone units. I think Sony makes some nice ones.
My 4 year old daughter wanted to take a break from the Nintendo switch so she asked to play “dads old gorilla video game.” I dusted off my snes and set it up for her. She got to coral capers and the music started…. and I froze…. And time traveled back to 1994 in my old house. Pure gaming bliss.
Thats is such a heartwarming story! I wish i can also get a nostalgic freeze when my future children get curious and want to play some old video games of my (this) era
When the people who designed the sound chip heard what David Wise had done with it, they were shocked that it was even possible. It isn’t just the compositions that make him a genius.
@Ryan-Rami Ayoub The idea is fitting this kind of synthesizing on a snes. **By what i know** the musician that made this music made a crazy trick to make a music of this quality level to fit in a snes. Wiki: "Wise wanted to push the limits in terms of audio to create "equally impressive" music and make the most of the small space he was working with. He wanted the audio to stand out from other SNES games, like the visuals. "Aquatic Ambience", the music that plays in the underwater levels, took five weeks to create and was the result of Wise's efforts to create a "waveform sequence" on the SNES using his Wavestation. Wise composed "Aquatic Ambience" after he realized he could use the Wavestation, and considers the track his favorite in the game and its biggest technological accomplishment in regards to the audio". Also, musics like Brian Eno did existed before him, he just popularized and coined the term.
@____ The songs made in this game were "impossible" to fit and be processed inside snes hardware, yet, the musician that made the game music made technical stuffs that made it possible and impressed everyone. In this case, the music is not ahead of time because "genre" or "style" or "innovation", but because technical details. Do the test, get other snes games and evaluate the quality of sound, timbre and effects, then check out again the Donkey Kong songs and understand why it was beyond the time.
I’m 31. This song brings back so many memories. The nostalgia is bringing me to tears. I remember going over to my grandmas house so much when I was little. She had a Super Nintendo there. She had three games. Kirby, Super Street Fighter 2, and Donkey Kong. I played them all when ever I would go over. Sadly my grandma passed several years ago now. But listening to this song really does make me feel like a kid going to her house to visit her and play this with my cousins. A time when my whole immediate family was all together. My parents myself and my two older brothers. Now we’re all married, moved out of my parents, living our own separate lives, but God knows I would do anything to have a chance to live in those times. At least once more. I miss them all so much. Don’t get me wrong I love my wife, and we’re going to have a baby soon. So I’m starting my own family to build those type of memories with and I’m very excited for that. But there’s days when you can’t help but think of great times when you’re younger. A time when everything was still new, and fun. No real world pressure. When my son is born I will play this song for him, so he knows how my childhood was. How I’ll never regret a second of it. God bless you all who ever reads this to the end. I appreciate the time you gave to read my comment.
U made me think of my friends I used to play this with and where they are now wich is not a good place. Although your memories of this game and all that surrounded it was hella koo. Like all songs make u think, this one really makes me think and so did your message I'm 35 myself san jose ca. You almost missed this generation of snes.
@@ericsj40885 There are small children alive today, with only DKC on SNES to play, though rare, and likely not living in America, DKC will have a place in some child's heart, somewhere on planet earth, until the SNES and it's respective games become so rare that it's unlikely to reach a child in their most impressionable phases, it will have the same effect on someone. And if that isn't one of the most comforting and beautiful things you've ever heard, I dont wanna know you. JK, I love you, random stranger. We may be different, but we are all the same in the sense that we all long for the nostalgic comfort of childhood in some way. If only it could last :(
It’s crazy, I’m going through the exact same thing. Crazy how things change and people - even family - drift apart. Makes you realize you need to enjoy every second to the fullest. Hope you and yours are well. Baby is probably here by now? 😁
My girlfriend showed me this song because it’d always stuck with her since she was a kid because of how calming it was. I was hooked. The other day we went to the zoo and they had that submerged enclosure for a seal. You know, it goes underground and has a glass wall so you can see it swim around. Anyway it’s dark and cool blue light is coming in through the glass. The seal would glide by every so often. It was already pretty nice but then I heard a familiar sound. I look back at my girlfriend to see if she was playing it off her phone but she wasn’t. It was this song coming from the overhead speakers. No joke it was fucking magical. Someone at that zoo knows what’s up.
This makes me think of my hometown, when my mom and dad were still together, coming home from school before my brother's got home and go play the snes, then do my homework, have a nice dinner with the whole family all around, then watch the Simpsons on Mondays or sometimes tales from the crypt, or play outside till the sun sets. And the feeling of it being finally Friday and knowing we were gonna get pizza and go to Blockbuster and rent some games. God life was so simple then, now all the information is shoved in your face, and worrying about the whole world instead of just your neighborhood.
Whenever im struggling with mental health i take a day off work go to my bathroom and play this song while in the bathtub. It takes me back to a time when my mom wasn't in the hospital and i had family left. To those warm summer nights when me and my mom would set down and play this together. This has been here for so many people. Such a timeless piece of art. Wishing you all love and happiness.
I remember watching my best friend play this and being like "hey dont beat the level yet, I wanna listen to the song" we sat there for a good 5 minutes just listening to to.
I remember playing this game as a teenager. No bills, no real stresses in life. Now I'm 40 and stressed af. At least I can listen to this and remember what life felt like before the weight of the world was on my shoulders.
Amazing. And that my friend is the gift of humanity. The ability to not only remember, but possibly even touch a feeling we once felt, because we have the ability to care. And I am so thankful and care so much you got play this game! Peace out!
Use to play this with my dad when I was a kid. This song in particular was always our favorite. My father has since passed away to colon cancer and I listen to this all the time. It reminds me of him, and the times we sat on the edge of my bed just playing DKC. I miss you dad 🥺
Memory unlocked: I remember playing this game with my little brother and cousin when we were kids and now I'm the only one still alive out of the 3 of us 😢 man I miss them so much 😢
My biggest moment in life was in 1995. I was 14. I went to a store and bought Donkey Kong Country. It was a moment of the biggest rush I ever felt in my life. On my way home I kept the game under my jacket and on the bus I got nervous I would get robbed. I ran from the bus and home and when I started playing this game I felt a warm wave spreading all over my body. I have never ever felt so happy again in my life. I am 41 now. Nothing I can think of can awake 1% of that happiness.
This honestly makes me sad man...I was 8 when this came out back in 1994, the nostalgia is so very very real right now. I can’t believe it’s been 25 years, sometimes I really miss my childhood man. Spent so many days playing this with my brother. Damn where does time go? This song makes me yearn to go back to those simple carefree days...
Must be nice, I think my parents put me in front of the digital baby sitter (SNES) so they could have a easy parenting life....It took me 2 decades to break the gaming addiction they gave me and my brother... My poor brother is forever enslaved and his life is shit.
I haven’t cried like this in a while. Gosh life was amazing back then. I’m transported to my cousins house playing Nintendo on one of those big, old-school TVs. We are eating pizza and have not a care in the world. He died in a motorcycle accident almost 20 years ago when he was just 19. I wish I could go back and play this game with you Dean. I look forward to seeing you again one day ❤
Me either but yet I feel nostalgic for jungle high jinx’s and space junk galaxy (I first played galaxy on September 24 this year -note that day was my birthday and it was my first time playing galaxy and sunshine-
The feeling of being 12 getting home from school, opening a window to feel the cool air of fall and sitting down to play some Donkey Kong Country. Good times man, good times.
YES. THE WINDOW. I swear to you every time I think about being a kid I can always remember opening a window with the nice crisp clean air coming in.I can still smell it. Turning a game on or a TV show. I miss it so much.
+Thor Pedersen I always liked water levels. Just like with flying levels, you can swim all over the screen to avoid enemies, it just takes a little longer. Everything is a bit slower...including the enemies.
+luigi442wii I know, but holy shit most don't. You add water physics to a level in a game, and suddenly the developers are confused. All this game did was just make the movement as similar to the way you do on land, but adding some water effects by making the player move a bit slower, and floating. Its the same movement only a bit slower and you can go to different planes on the y axis instead of staying on the ground. Its simple, but sometimes the simplest way is the most effective.
i nearly cried reading your comment. man we had no idea how easy and simple those times were back then... playing the games now is still great, but it's never the same.
I cried listen this song too. Just dreamed with my grandfather's home, this song makes I remember there, where I used to play this game. A year ago he passed by. How can a song, with no lyrics, do this? Thank you, Nintendo, for this masterpiece.
Currently 9:45 PM in Texas. Don’t have power or water and I have a grandpa with ALS who needs a breathing machine. Thankful for a little peace of mind with this song. Hope everyone in the world at any point in time is doing well. This song will always be here for you. Love you.
@BRAYLON BURK he recently passed away but we managed through the storm. Whole thing was a mess but at least looking back I can say it brought us very close that week and a half. I really appreciate the sentiment and I hope all is going well in your life.
@@Yoequ I’m very sorry to hear that. There’s not enough words in the world to express how frustrating that is and I’m very sorry for the loss of your mother and dog. I hope moving forward you and the rest of your family have each other’s backs. I wish you well tomorrow, the next day, the next week, the next month, the next year, the next 10 years, and for the remainder of your life man. It’s hard to deal with loss but make sure you reach out to people when grieving. You’ll get a lot of people that share their love and concern early and that’s very important but there are moments where you miss those close to you and you feel alone. Again very sorry for your loss and all love❤️
@horriblepancake Trust myself?! Man, I can’t even trust myself to mow my lawn, let alone save myself from an eternity in Hell! That’s why I need the Lord Jesús Christ! 🙏❤️
I hear you there. I get the upbeat part making me happy but there is something about it that also makes me feel sad. I don't know if it is memories or what.
N Smith is the memories man. Life as we get older will bring all this emotions when remembering. We are here today and tomorrow we will be gone. It is all a celebration of lights. Be bless.
And it’s suddenly 1997. School just let out for the Summer. I’m playing Donkey Kong with my brother and sisters. I can smell the fresh cut grass on a Saturday morning. Just waiting for the neighborhood kids to ring the doorbell, so we can go ride bikes and disappear for hours into the woods. I would love to go back in time to just feel this moment again, even if for but a brief moment.
This is one thing technology has robbed us for im a 2001 baby and it was so lame getting older jus to go my cousin house jus to play games n not do adventures like we did when we was younger tbh I think I explored my childhood city more when I was a child than an adult it sad sometimes
Only God can make you feel like that again bro trust repent from all your sins...ask and accept Jesus Christ for that forgiveness and bro you're going to feel that God bless yall Good luck!
What a time to be alive. I remember biking and playing sports in the streets while drinking water from the hose to stay cool. The 90s was such a wonderful time.
The overwhelming sadness of this melody just brings the strong dose of Nostalgia, yet knowing that things will never be the same again. Everything is going to be alright, bless your souls!
As we get older we want to go back, but when we are young we can’t wait to get old, I can’t believe i ever had those thoughts as a teenager, I hope heaven is the best times as a teenager! Young people if you read this comment, please slow down and enjoy your teenage years and don’t let this world change your heart and mind or take your soul, nothing is ever bad as it seems, I hope you enjoy your youth because one day you’ll realize how great a gift it was and that no amount of money or effort can slow down time or take you back! Much love y’all
I don't know you guys but just knowing that your moms have passed almost made me cry. I can't imagine how it will feel when I lose mine. Im so sorry for your losses
It's actually very comforting reading all these comments...knowing that this song makes others feel the same. Really makes me long to be a child again, when things were much simpler.
This song makes me sad because it reminds me of my great grandma who passed away. She loved Donkey Kong and that’s why I remember her when I listen to this.
God bless you bro...Jesus Christ loves you no matter what and he works in mysterious ways...something told me to start listening to this song and came across your comment now were here 2023....tell Jesus Christ to forgive you from all your sins and accept him bro everything will change in your life and after we leave this earth...God bless you and take care!
I listen to this song and it’s like I’m with my brother again, until we meet again on the other side Bobby, I’ll be here reminiscing our pure bliss of playing DKC together.
Thank you both for your kind words. I could say so much and I’d be lying if I said I wasn’t struggling but I’m trying my best to keep going on the best way I can. I hope I’m honoring him everyday, he deserves to be remembered as long as I live because he was that important to me. Much love to you all
"The flow of time is always cruel... its speed seems different for each person, but no one can change it... A thing that does not change with time is a memory of younger days..."
@DecrepitOrigin888 because you had more energy as a child and you we're bored more because you were limited in what you could do throughout the day. You had to use your imagination more.
@@QuentinDude Nah, that plays a part in it to be sure... but that's not at all the entirety. It's really simple mathematics when you boil it down to the basic gist of it. When we're 5 Years Old... 1 Single Little Year is Literally an *ENTIRE* Fifth of Our Whole Life. When we're 50 Years Old... 1 Single Little Year is *ONLY* just 1-Fiftieth. The older we get the Shorter Our Perception is of Each Year, because we've Experienced More Years in Total. Of course Novelty in regards to Experiences & Fun definitely still play a significant part though, as we mentioned. We remember things More (& More Easily) when there are More *New* / *Novel* Experiences that Go Along With Them. And as we get older there is Less and Less Novelty in virtually Everything.
But also (and I hate to be *that guy* , the Sorta Near Killjoy Kind), Sheik was fairly wrong about that statement. The Last Part anyway, not so much about the First Part or the Middle. It is still a very quaint and memorable quote, and certainly with some truth to it, but Memories of our youth most definitely can (& often Will) change over time... in a Deceptively-Gradual Manner that we can't easily Self-Recognize. When we recall an Old Memory, Nostalgic or Otherwise, what we're Really Remembering is HOW We Remembered it The Last Time We Recalled It... whether that time was Completely Accurate to the Original Experience... or Not. It's quite very possible to still Keep an Old Memory relatively accurate, but it's not necessarily all that easy.
Why is this making me cry? This reminds me of getting in the car with my mom, brother and dog, headed to blockbuster during the summer day to rent this game. Played it with my brother all day and then probably was getting ready to watch full house on TGIF. Being an adult sucks...
I have a 5 year daughter and 3 year old son. Being a father makes middle age infinitely better. As a dad you get to experience simultaneously both nostalgia and watching their excitement over video games like this for the first time.
I feel you. I'm almost 40, and remember renting this from Blockbuster like it was yesterday. Time flies. Miss those endless days as a kid when time stood still.
I feel your pain. I’m lucky I went outside more than I played video games. I have a friend who is all skin and bone and played video games all his childhood. He is now thirty-seven and ashamed of his past. Sadly, once you are in your adult ages, those opportunities disappear. I understand if everyone wanted to go back to their childhood. Back to their childhood home in the country and play this game forever with the people they held near and dear. This song makes memories. That makes it truly acknowledgeable.
the comments on this video are just beautifull amazing how a simple tune like this influenced so many lives in so many different ways videogames can be magical, love you all
Man this brings back only the fondest memories of my aunt who just lost her battle with cancer. She was the only one in my house who was able to beat both the DKC games and we were all so mesmerized by it, my 6 year old eyes were glued to the screen. She was of the arcade generation of course. Fly high Tara.
Not only is this an incredible composition on a level of synthesis - it is also an incredible accomplishment of sound engineering and programming: to get the SNES to produce this sound while displaying the graphics that it did, at such perfect framerates was simply astonishing. SNES did not have the right to produce this kind of sound output. David Wise deserves a lifetime Emmy award just on the basis of the original Donkey Kong soundtrack.
super hero flics (dark knight) and video games (mass effect 2, the DKC series) rarely get the recognition, if ever, that it, or it 's developers or composers ought to :)
If you were lucky enough to be alive/played this game in the 1990s and were a kid like myself, you understand just how much nostalgia you get hearing this song. Sitting in front of that giant TV hearing this song with that SNES on the stand and being mesmerized by the levels and music… I’m so lucky/glad I got to experience the 90s as a kid and played this game back then, it was amazing
This was THEE game at that time. I was pretty poor growing up but my mom managed to get me an SNES for Xmas one year. I borrowed this game from a neighbor and fell in love. There was ABSOLUTELY nothing like it before then.
Lost my best friend today, my dog Miko. This song was with us for a very long time, and it's playing one last time with him. Thanks for the memories Miko, you will be missed 💚💙
Miss the old days of playing this video game with my brother and sister back when we were kids and very close... this was our favorite game. Now, I barely even hear from them or don't hear back when I reach out. Hearing this though really makes me miss them so much. Just wish things were the way they were back then when I was happy with life.
I was 7 when this game first come out I am now 34. It's funny how a simple piece of music can take you back all them years and it still brings a tear to my eye.
- never could have humanity predicted that people would listen to a track from a 1994 video game about two monkeys avoiding sharks underwater for 10 hours and try to decipher the universe.
I remember being like 5 when this game came out and having a crush on my friend Brittany and when I heard this song wanting to play it at our wedding...now she’s a lesbian
Im really the only one out here that finds this song so uncomfortable and creepy?? I always turned down the sound when i was in a level where this played.
What's crazy is this song by itself has literally touch many lives. The Ambiance of the 90s in a single song is absolutely breathe taking. I just want to say thank you for making it 10 hours long. This brings back so many memories and so many memories I can't get back sadly. But, a good memory I played this game with my Grandfather when I was about 6 or 7 and I can't even describe into word how much I miss being 6 years old waking up on a Saturday spending the whole day with my Grandpa playing this game. I'm gonna call my Grandpa after this. Edit: I called my grandpa. He was so happy to hear from me. I haven't talk to him in like 2 years. So for this song to have that much of an impact is astounding to say the absolute least. We going to breakfast sometime this weekend and we might just fire up the old SNES and live in the moment of nostalgia.
Gosh... really sad and depressed with my life... being 30 and feeling like you just let everybody down and life just sucks... remember when times were simple? Gosh I love you guys.. whoever reads this I thought I was weird at first also... your not alone
Sitting in my older brother’s room playing Super Nintendo and my jaw hitting the floor when we first played this. To think one day we played games together for the last time and didn’t even realise it.
@@leodesouza2855I was thinking this. I was actually thinking from the perspective that they're now older and don't own game consoles so don't have the facility to replicate the stuff they did as children
There was an old video from aquatic ambiance but youtube took it down due copyrights, theres a friend named Randy Pendleton that wrote this and went right through my heart, i juwst found it again so i'll post it on the first video so everybody will know his legacy: I've been deaf since the year 1999, but this song is embed pretty heavily into my skull. I'm kinda surprised by the comments: I thought I was the only person alive who had ever felt an odd twinge of tranquility from listening to this. It's easily my favorite piece of instrumental music, and it takes me back to my youth, back when the SNES was the pinnacle of gaming. These days, N64 is considered a relic, though it was the 'wave of the future' back when I was a teen. Funny how times change. At least I've lived to hear this song. It sums up my childhood nicely.
The beauty of a song cannot be described in mere words. It is a song like this that give us a yearning feeling to go back to when the only care in the world was “Were is the next save point?” Now, most everyone has something to worry about in this vastly complicated world in which we live in. David Wise (the composer) knew what he was doing when he created this song, Although I don’t think he knew how much of an impact it would have on all of us
You never know what Impact you leave on others. But you can try your best to let it be a good impact. Maybe you will Change someones live just through a few words. Always Smile in live even through hard times. It may seem hard from time to time but all you can do is smiling and enjoying every moment. Stay safe Out there fellow brethren.
Gosh, how can these songs just ignite such intense nostalgia. It’s not even the game (I didn’t play it) but a total massive wave of memories from the 90’s/2000’s that just reminds you of everything from that time period you loved and remembered. Like a ball of all our memories and things we took joy in bottled up.
so true, there is something deeper to this one, no QUESTION dude, I feel exactly the same way. DEEP nostalgia, but.....REFRESHING, as I have had a very depressing year. WOW.....actually feeling hopeful
Breaks my heart to know life will never be like it was when we first played this as kids but at the same time brings joy to have such great memories from those days
With all the chaos and confusion and hope for better understanding and love in our world, this just randomly showed up and I haven't stopped crying for over 10 minutes....at least I have my animal buddy with me, Sidewinder my kitty cat. This takes me back to so much. My Grandpa bought me these games and he passed just around a year ago and now my mom is in the hospital again... life just gets more complicated it seems when we get older. But I hope we all know there is a lot of love and light in this world. I hope you have all the good vibes and I'm sending them to you - wherever you are. 🌟
The graphics of this game were out of this world ! (And still are IMO) Funny how back in the 90's we had no standard... We only played the game no matter how it looked. Today, If a game is not 1080p/60fps, some people throw a tantrum... Gee...
GameDjeenie AMEN!!! I love the old games like this truthfully, I really don't like new games of today. I'm an 80s child...but I don't really think that has anything to do with it. Better graphics and sound don't equal a better game.
GameDjeenie I agree gamers today are too obsessed with frames and graphics and while I'll admit that I love to take in the scenery that graphic can create, in this day and age gameplay and storylines tend to suck compared to the older games. It feels like game companies have forgotten what made video games great to begin with.
GameDjeenie look, that was back on consoles, who always have had, have, and will have a userbase mostly composed of people who are uneducated to the point where they will "eat whatever is put in front of them". And plus, nowadays, we have those standards so every release possible can be amazing, and it doesn't really take that much effort to make a game at least 1080/60. The people who can't do that are either incredibly lazy, or ultra-obsessed with profit and shitting games out as quickly as possible. (which is kind of the opposite of what you tried to make in your point)
GameDjeenie Graphics have always been a selling point to games and there has always been a graphical arms race. This mythical golden age of people not being concerned with graphics never existed. Been gaming since the 80's. I'm all for nostalgia. My friends will attest that I'm the biggest nostalgiafag they've ever met. But let's get real, here.
I remember being a little kid when I first went to an aquarium. I was amazed when I entered this glass tunnels which was surrounded by all types of shark. I can't really explain how I felt. But this song captures that feeling perfectly.
Like how beautiful everything under water is, and how insignificant we really are, as humans, when compared to the beutiful and seemingly endless blue abyss known as the ocean and the peaceful and neon creatures inside it. Its really weird how far we've come in technology and how complicated everything is, yet the ocean's creatures are living the good, open, natural, care free life.
Its 1am and started playing this for my 5 week old hoping she'll calm down. This song just popped in my head to play for kid, huge nostalgia trip. Funny to see so many other young parents with the same idea here.
It is like I am 10 years old again. I am safe. Not a care in the world. All I want to do every day is play with friends, climb trees, and play videogames. Listening to this I can remember going home after a fun filled day of playing around the neighborhood, sitting on the floor and powering up the SNES. I sometimes stopped half way through a level and just listened to the music. It feels like a world away now and yet like it was yesterday. I'd go back in a heartbeat if I could. But I am happy to stay in the present so I can give my kids a chance at forming their own cherished memories.
It took David Wise about 5 weeks to get this song on the dkc cartridge. He had to manually input every hexadecimal for each of the 8 sound channels for every frame of music. This is what we have in the end. The song was made to show just how technically advanced the game was for it's time. Not only was it the first pre rendered video game, it came out 1 year before toy story, the cgi graphics had raytracing and look amazing, and it had songs that pushed the limits of the snes. On top of a that, the devs were still able to create a game that has amazing controls and level design.
I'm 35 years old now. But I remember those 90s, where my brothers and I had a SNES, and my dad would come home from work and always call if one of us could get to that water phase, just to relax and hear some of this beautiful music.
I play this every morning while I pack lunches and get ready for work. I just want to say thank you, it really soothes me and the ppl in my home. Whenever they don't hear me play it, someone else will turn it on lol
This song makes me feel so bitter sweet. I miss being a kid in the 90s, care free and having (what i didnt know then) the time of my life. I wish i could go back and start again. But at the same time im glad I was able to experience that and as long as no memories are eaten by diseases i will be able to cherish that time of my life.
The 1990's is the greatest decade in human history. No matter what technological advancements, no matter what scientific inquiries we breakthrough, philosophies we turn from intangibles into practical application, no other decade spearheaded the best of humanity greater than the 90's, and I am proud to have been born only a few months after the decade began. You can argue the 90's decade lead to the modern struggles we are enduring today, but it also created a new level of art, science, philosophy, technology and interconnectivity by the billions. And absolutley sublime video game music.
Such a nostalgic song.. i was 7 years old at the time. We had a Mega Drive at home but Donkey Kong made me jealous of the Super Nes. We were playing this masterpiece at my big brothers best friend, Chris, they were 10. Fine times indeed.. real great memories. Unfortunately Chris died of cancer when he was 22-this song kinda remind me of him. a time travel to my childhood.. Rip Chris wherever you are :)
there's something so mysterious and majestic about this song...is almost like you cant explain it with words, it just puts reality in a higher perspective everytime.
Whenever I have a really bad migraine, I clumsily navigate my way here somehow. I can’t always remember the name of the song, and spelling is hard. Even finding the UA-cam app is hard sometimes. All together, it feels like dragging my brain through a foggy, painful maze. But I usually manage it, and with just the right something to listen to, I can eventually pass out despite the pain. Thank you, to whoever posted this. You’ve brought me comfort during some very rough times.
Best time to be alive as a kid. We weren't stuck inside playing psp, Gameboy, smartphones. We were outside playing. Something most kids these days don't know anything about. Miss my childhood. How the days gone by.
I listen to this song while at work everyday, helps me get focused. I think my co-workers think I am nuts listening to video game music, but I find it easier then songs with words in them.
Videogame music is just music, let no one say it isn't because of how it's used, that's like saying because a piece of art isn't in a museum it isn't art
I do the same. I prefer it to other music because it’s designed to be listened to in the background while you are focusing on other tasks, like playing a game. The reason this song is absolutely perfect for the game is because the water levels are different from the rest of the game and require tight reflexes and navigation through corridors. This song really helps you relax and focus while being immersed in the world.
I just hope with all my heart that this video never gets deleted or taken down because this song helps me sleep at night and I wake up ready to start the day after drifting in my Utopian realm of underwater serenity and beauty.
The feeling from this song is just so odd.. it doesn’t remind me of past or future and it makes me feel so relaxed yet sad, as if I’m longing for days I never even experienced. Deep shit man.
After Reading the comments Missing "the good ol Times". Enjoy every moment, cause this will be the good ol Times in the future you will be missing. Times goes on everyday and there is no moment like the present again. Stay safe y'all. In the past, the present, and the future. Love you all.
Hey DK fans! Kindly, I have just released my debut album CRASTI LAND a few weeks ago and since the Donkey Kong Country soundtrack is without a doubt one of my biggest music inspirations I thought I'd share the news with you and other fans :) I have worked really hard on this album and I am so thankful for every single listen and review, thank you in advance! Have a powerful day!
Never could have humanity predicted that people would listen to a track from a 1994 video game about two monkeys avoiding sharks underwater for 10 hours and try to decipher the universe.
If the song was just a few hours longer, I'd find the answer to the universe and everything...

That’s truly beautiful 👍
I recently bought waterproof earbuds to listen to this while snorkeling. It’s now a bucket list item crossed off, and confirms that the music of angels really does sing underwater.
did you find Enguarde tho?
Are those earbuds specific made to be used under water? cuz all the water proof electronics i know are made to resist only a few splashes or a few minutes in water

The SNES has one hell of a sound chip
this is the tune at its full quality, not what it would have been platyed thru the chip...but ey imagine it was ey :)
And one hell of a composer.
@@maskoftruth4182 No, this what it sounds like through the chip
ua-cam.com/video/5pTRX_USHc4/v-deo.html
When the people who designed the sound chip heard what David Wise had done with it, they were shocked that it was even possible. It isn’t just the compositions that make him a genius.
Few people understand how ahead of its time this DK soundtrack was
It should be impossible to have sounds of this quality in SNES games.
@Ryan-Rami Ayoub The idea is fitting this kind of synthesizing on a snes. **By what i know** the musician that made this music made a crazy trick to make a music of this quality level to fit in a snes.
Wiki:
"Wise wanted to push the limits in terms of audio to create "equally impressive" music and make the most of the small space he was working with.
@Ryan-Rami Ayoub Np :)... But anyway, i think that is the point of OP.
I’d say it came right on time...
Like all songs make u think, this one really makes me think and so did your message

Its interesting to think that many people hate ocean levels in games - but the soundtracks accompanying them often are some of the best in the games.
It's compensation for how bad they are. No one truly gets how to program it right.

Ya when your a kid it seems like time really stood still and the days lasted forever.

Shame blockbuster went out of business I had a lot of Happy Times going over there with my parents
was so fucked off i had to come back

Right on brother.

Cant he get a music award I'm sure this guys got accolades up the lying yang
Get off the ledge.
super hero flics (dark knight) and video games (mass effect 2, the DKC series) rarely get the recognition, if ever, that it, or it 's developers or composers ought to :)
There is also Stickerbrush Symphony that he composed, another masterpiece!
@@TheLuigigalaxy that almost got cut from the game. It barely made it because the other track they were going to use for Bramble blast did not work.
Straight FACTS!!!🥹😆
I’m so grateful I was able to play this when it released. This song practically put me in a trance back then. Those were the days 😢

This was THEE game at that time. I was pretty poor growing up but my mom managed to get me an SNES for Xmas one year. I borrowed this game from a neighbor and fell in love. There was ABSOLUTELY nothing like it before then.
I was born 1996, didn't play this game but all the "chiptune" sort of music makes me feel nostalgic
Anyone in their late 20s/early 30s are going to feel a euphoric (yet, tearful) nostalgic wave upon hearing this.

Miss the old days of playing this video game with my brother and sister back when we were kids and very close... this was our favorite game. Just wish things were the way they were back then when I was happy with life.

Stay in touch with your older folks, it means more than you can realise - they need you :)

I've been deaf since the year 1999, but this song is embed pretty heavily into my skull.
@johnmoreira2846 just

Best comment.
This and sticker bush symphony, as well as many others in this soundtrack
Gosh, how can these songs just ignite such intense nostalgia. It’s not even the game (I didn’t play it) but a total massive wave of memories from the 90’s/2000’s that just reminds you of everything from that time period you loved and remembered. Like a ball of all our memories and things we took joy in bottled up.
this music makes all the old neurons pathways fire exactly like they fired 30 or so years ago, nostalgia is a hell of a drug
so true, there is something deeper to this one, no QUESTION dude, I feel exactly the same way. DEEP nostalgia, but.....REFRESHING, as I have had a very depressing year. WOW.....actually feeling hopeful
Yep the nostalgia is real
You hit the head on the nail with this comment. I've been sitting here for an hour and feel like I did when I was a teen.

I pray your mum recovers 🙏🏽
Love you man, hope everything turned out okay.
Same here man, hope your doing well these days.
The graphics of this game were out of this world ! (And still are IMO)
Funny how back in the 90's we had no standard...
***** I think you mean "256k/600fps"
Magic🤩
Hi Morshu
Its 1am and started playing this for my 5 week old hoping she'll calm down. This song just popped in my head to play for kid, huge nostalgia trip. Funny to see so many other young parents with the same idea here.
On god
I always felt the graphics and musical score was waaaay ahead of its time.

I listen to this song while at work everyday, helps me get focused. I think my co-workers think I am nuts listening to video game music, but I find it easier then songs with words in them.
Keep on keeping on man
Videogame music is just music, let no one say it isn't because of how it's used, that's like saying because a piece of art isn't in a museum it isn't art
I have a whole folder of chip tune music for the same reason
I do the same. I prefer it to other music because it’s designed to be listened to in the background while you are focusing on other tasks, like playing a game. The reason this song is absolutely perfect for the game is because the water levels are different from the rest of the game and require tight reflexes and navigation through corridors. This song really helps you relax and focus while being immersed in the world.
Lmao I would love to work with someone who did stuff like this
I just love how this song makes me feel the emotions, nostalgia and memories of better simpler times
