I have been dreaming watching Mr Robby Naish pictures when I was a kid, and now watching his videos showing my kids, who is the king of windsurf. Thank you mr Naish for these videos, and developing new ways of having fun on the water
In the 80's I was windsurfing on a man made dam in the middle of Africa in water that was pumped out from the gold mines! All we had was the original windsurfers and some windsurfing magazines with Robby Nash. We tried to build boards like he was using and converted old surfboards but to young and no materials to make anything that was any good. Finally we got our hands on some shorter boards and fully battened sales and the world was ours! I made it to Maui once to fulfill the dream. Robby you lit the fuse for so many of us, It's great to see the videos, keep them coming even if they are just a few minutes!!
This video made me almost cry... Kanaha 25 years ago nostalgia...Maui where I lived, time flies by so ff in fast. Robby still out there, what an icon you are, .. mahalo.
Rayer Scarpensael Kanaha and Kuau 27 years ago were my spots. Always stopped on the highway at Hookipa on the way home to have a beer after a sesh at Kuau to watch US1111 shred Hookipa. Shocking how time flies.
@Sylvie van Eyk yeah luckily he made a brand out of his awesome skills showing us the way, so he can live at the level of his talent, otherwise he would be a car salesman or selling sandwiches at subway Maui. He deserves all of it for years of emotion and pushing the sport forward even at 57, bitch.
@Sylvie van Eyk Yes, he has a business. So what? He's also a living legend and icon in the windsurfing world much like Kelly Slater is in the surfing world. What's your problem, beeotch?
Same here. Taught the tourists to waterstart at the same spot. Used to do upwind coast runs to jaws in the summer with the boys before it was named that. It was kapu back then. We’d see it breaking driving from Haiku but no one surfed it then. Molokai crossings too.Great memories.
4:52 answered my question on whether it is possible to do a classic water start using a wing. 👍 Mind you, gotta remember that this is Robby Naish doing it (and in 30+ knots). The same Robby Naish who, years back had a video showing that it was indeed possible to uphaul a sinker. Inspired by that I managed to do it myself sinking to well over my knees on my 8 foot Gorge board and 4.0 sail. However only by quickly 'slicing' the sail up out of the water and sheeting in real quick to prevent the momentum causing me and the rig to topple over backwards. I came to the conclusion that for the 'trick' to work I needed enough wind that I probably could have water started anyway. Heart felt thanks Robbie for all you have done. Not many people manage to touch the lives of so many other in such a positive way. You are one of those few.
Robby, you will always be the KING of windsurfing to me!! I got inspired to get better at it back in the 80's from watching your videos on VHS so I guess that makes me like an old shoe now too lol! But i don't care... I still windsurf and still love it just like you even though I will never get to the level you're at. Long may you run! P+ L brudda... 😎🌴⛵
Robby, it's inspiration. 20 years ago I was in Kanaha and seeing these images brings back memories. Thanks for the video and being able to sail with the King is a huge pleasure. Mahalo!
These are good times that we can enjoy watching a legend in action like a bird perched on his rig. Amazing jumps Robbie, really enjoyed the video. Viewer from Texas here.
Sitting here in NH, snow still on the ground, butt arse cold and I get a UA-cam Video of a picture of my former life on Maui : / Brought up all the great memories up of sailing all over Maui, but Kanaha was the usual spot. Head out to Uppers with some bro's, sail til you couldn't any more, pop your favorite brew and talk story. Life was good. Precious moments, glad I lived them, some of the best times of my life...
Back in the late 70's and early 80's in South Africa we used to watch videos of you with your pink sails and aspire to even be a tiny bit as good as you! You certainly haven't lost it!
I went two weeks ago visit Rooby's mam in Kailua, just before closing her windsurfing shop after fourthy year in business....she gave me one of the silverware....Pan am hawaian windsurfing world cup plaque 1980 ... first windsurfing race in Kailua....lot of memories.... lucky to be part of it... Alooha from heavenly islands of Hawaii
Awesome. Mr Naish, you were an inspiration for me when I was windsurfing every summer at Cape Cod Massachusetts in the 70’s and 80’s. I wanted to achieve your incredible skill !! It’s great to see you out there cruising!
Thanks for the memories, I used to windsurf Kihei, rode wave top to wave top just like mogul skiing. Kanaha was much more challenging with the current and and the longer swells. Thanks again for the memories of Paradise.
Wow ! What a great vid! Thanks for sharing en inspiring me every time! I wish i could do that with my wife. So great . I got vivid merories of kanaha here in holland. The winds were so strong there that i changed boards and sail all the time. You,re the champ and my all time favorite !
great footage + would have loved to see a camera view from a boat/drone too. Robby is such a legend riding that choppy sea at what looks like 30+ knots + so effortlessly reading the water...
yeah I remember that one. Aerial shots were extremely expensive and Robby riding one of the old 3,8 m racing boards (impossible things to ride at high winds), the whole thing only in contact with water for the last foot or so, the rest just flying across all wake. Never saw anybody do that ever again...!
Amazing speed...in the windsurfing part...that were I can really appreciate the extraordinary level of windsurfing skills you have. With this kind of wind, I stay home, and if I am out sailing, I usually am so uncomfortable to try to minimize the power coming from the sail...I end up my session. On the video side, probably the camera needs a few more frames per second to be smoother.....it has difficulty to catch up, at least when watched on UA-cam 1080p.
Epic Robby! Was in Maui in 2001. Sailed Hookipa every day for a month! Good times, keep the videos coming! Can you still loop a Mistral Equipe? You once did it for a magazine shoot for fun 😂
Thx for the amazing action vlog, champ. Nice to see you had fun. Amazing how contolled your lines are, due to so much chop and wind. When do you go out of the harness lines during race? when it is too gusty or only in front of a jump? Greeting from germany, Jan. HL
Hi Robby, another great video total class, Just wondering how, where and when will it be possible to watch 'The Longest Wave' in the UK, when is it released or available over here please? Cheers
Slalom action on a wing. Excellent! By the way, the other day, you posted a photo or video titled "giving the old knees a workout" or something in the lines of.... Does the foil cushion the impact when you land on the water?
Nice! I love watching your videos. I've never seen anyone wing-surf. It looks like it might be a little more intuitive and easier to control than a mast and sail. Or maybe not, I don't know, I'm a beginner (I can water-start).
We in the Netherlands are fully open again, after being closed for 3 years or so. Been on the Big Island when I was 22, never had the money to come for a seconds time, i am 53 now. Dunkerbeck went to Bonaire.
Hi Robby for Wing Surfing, is that the best foot strap set up, I have just bought some kit and set up the straps as if I was windsurfing? Great videos and speed
Hey Robby, I'm very interested in the Lift 6.0 for very light-wind foiling as it goes on a 400cm mast. Would you recommend the Freerace or the Freeride one to get through lulls at best as possible ?
I have been dreaming watching Mr Robby Naish pictures when I was a kid, and now watching his videos showing my kids, who is the king of windsurf. Thank you mr Naish for these videos, and developing new ways of having fun on the water
I thinks it's just awesome that Robby still loves blasting around on the water. His passion is what drives the sport.

Robbie’s one of the sweetest people on Maui. He always has a friendly face and a warm aloha for strangers and friends.
Robby Naish changed my life, inspired my windsurfing drive, eventually kitesurfing, a true class act, Aloha from Buffalo NY

Great video Robby. You are my hero. My brothers and I wore out your R.I.P. VHS tape when we were kids in junior high. Keep shredding.
The old man and the sea 😇
Robby, thank you for all, inclusive foiling lessons at lake Garda

Don’t know much about windsurfing but that was thrilling to watch. The board wake was just smokin, and the shore was disappearing real quick!...Thanks
Thanks! Brings back good memories. Couple decades since windsurfing Maui's Northshore. 14 straight days riding a Naish Nalu 4.2M.
thank you so much Robbie for this great footage...all the best from an big fan..from holland...
Still such an inspiration to me ! Thank you Robby, you kick ass !
Thanks Robby for your videos specially in this time, you're an amazing inspiration, I hope one day to meet you mate🤙
Großmeister Robby Naish... gut wie immer... Grüße nach Maui...

Love the micro car!
Thnx for being zjo you are @Robby, you are an inspiration and keep the dream alive man! 🤙🤙🤙🤙🤙
Man you make it look so easy and jumps too! Good to be king!
What a fantastic video to wake up to. I got the new SUP 110 with the 5.3 wing
Robby does it all!
Man that looks like so much fun thanks for sharing buddy.
So cool! I love Kitesurfing and I remember my First Naish kite X2 from the early 2000er year
The master. Love it.
A legend in action !!!
Very realistic video, I really enjoyed it.
Super Robby!!!!! Thank you
The Master on the water... Impressive like always... Great to be "side by side" with my Idol
Wooooow dude that's a lot parked cars! Very insightful, enjoy the peace and quiet! You guys are lucky. ;-)
Beautiful!

Without question, the Mike Tyson of Windsurfing!
Zowie! Still amazing. It’s cool he found some gear that has his last name on it. The dream!
That is so good. Reminds me of the old Mistal video shot by a helicopter where he was going 100 mph. Still one of my all time favs.

Nice video!!
Was the footage sped up? Nope, just going fast when it’s windy! 🤣
Love how sharp your hairy wristwatch is! 😂 Nice session you got there!
Would love to hear your thoughts on the pro's and con's of WingFoiling vs WindFoiling
You are always inspiring, keep it coming Robby!

Great sport:))
Super fun !

Legend.
Hi Robby for Wing Surfing, is that the best foot strap set up, I have just bought some kit and set up the straps as if I was windsurfing?
Great videos and speed
So you're almost going for a table top on foil wing-surf! Is it a new unofficial challenge? :p)
Rad! 🤘
Bello 👍
Awesome Awesome.

Cool!
I have been a cat sailor.. nothing quite like up on a single hull..that was very enticing.. moving out 🤙
GOAT.
Really awesome to see Robbie Ripping, Aloha.:)
Question: Is that just an optical illusion or is your boom really bending that much? If it's the latter, methinks I better get a new one.
I have seen the video and when I see you, I think that your prefer modality is still windsurfing Is true?
What do guys consider the main difference btw wining anf windsurf foiling, despite riding waves with wing combo?
amazing.he move better in water than in the steet.like allways
Ride along with you on the Video anytime. I am 65 and Kite foiling almost everyday. Stay young Robby....
Robby Im 6'4 and weigh 240. What kind of board sail combo would I use in those conditions
Bobby is very nice
Which Board did he used(windsurf)
