I've had my Toyota 6600 since 1995. It was a very expensive purchase for me at that time. But it has been so worth it to me. Your video is excellent, and I learned a few tricks as well!! Thanks
I bought one of these years ago at an Estate sale for around $20. I have been so intimidated by it that it has sat in the closet. Since its summer break I pulled it out and tried to thread it in my own. Disaster! Then I found your video and it made it so easy for me to figure out! Right now I have the tension working perfectly and no longer need to think to thread it. Next challenge - learning how to use it in my sewing projects! Thanks so much, I really appreciate you making this great video.
I stopped to pick up my sewing machine that I had repaired and the guy had the exact one like yours for 25:00 and of course I bought it right away. A woman had brought in the serger to be fixed and he fixed it, but she never came to pick it up, so after the amount of time he gave her to come, and she didn't he put it up for sale. So, When I got it, it was clean and fixed. I love it. It works great. You got a really great deal. Then I went online and bought the manual for it. I've had mine for about 10 years now and still no problems with it.
Thank you!! I bought this serger for $10 from Craigslist, never having used one before. It came without a manual and I had no idea how to figure anything out. So glad I found you!
I just bought one of these on craigslist for $20 and I had to watch your whole video to set it up and it's working!! Thanks so much for the helpful video
Thank you for this excellent video! I just bought this machine this morning at a yard sale for $20. I’ve never used a serger before but always wanted one. It didn’t come with the instruction book so your video really helped me. You explained everything clearly. The machine seems to work great. I’m really stoked about it! 🤩🎉 New subscriber.
I inherited mine. I have the manual and everything; It's been 4 years and I'm still intimidated as heck. I finally decided to be brave and try to use it. I got frustrated that it wasn't doing what it was supposed to so thank you SO much for this video!
I had one given to me by my sister in law for Christmas many years ago because I sewed so much for her. And I got a used one given to me a few years ago. I keep one in white thread and one in black. Love them both.
Just got this at an estate sale, thanks so much for your video! I’ve always wanted a serger but they seemed really intimidating, but your video was super helpful ❤
Hello! Thank you so much for this. I obtained this machine from a sew/vac store, didnt know a thing about it. Your tutorial made it so easy to get threaded up and started. I will follow !
I have one of these I bought used. When I tried to use it, I broke one of the needles. I haven't tried again since. Your video has helped, I might get it out again
Thank you for this video I just bought one of the same online at goodwill, there are so many on sale there. I have a question, where can I buy or substitute the holders for the cone thread, mine didn't come with it. thank you
Could you help me with the step right before the needle for the red and green it's the loopy thing thank you this taking me like forevermore thank so much
I'm looking at you threading the 2nd color (blue) And it looks to me that there is a blue dot on both the bottom section where you said there is no blue dot?
Hi 👋🏻 I came a round to your video just in time before I gave up. I purchased the exact same machine from Facebook Marketplace for $50. I’ve been trying to get it to work but the thread going through the needles becomes dislodged. I say dislodged because as I’m trying to sew the thread leaves the needles but continues under the foot. Maybe it breaks and continues to get pulled under the foot by the fabric. I honestly don’t know what is happening or what to do. I’ve followed all the steps when threading the machine. Do you have any suggestions or ideas on what I can do to try and solve the problem? Please respond and thank you for the detailed video.❤
Hello! Glad the video helped... so when you sew the thread is coming out of the needles? Are you threading in the correct order? What are your tensions set to?
It could be that your thread is old so it is easily breaking. This was happening to me because all the thread that came with it was probably the same age as the machine! Also give your thread tails of like 5 inches when you pull it through.
I have the exact model that I got used. I followed your video, but im unsure how the blue thread is supposed to lay under the mechanism. My threads just tangle up inside the machine and nothing comes out
If you think you have it exactly like this and it's bunching up and getting stuck, it might just be getting caught on the presser foot or a part of the throat plate. Try hitting the pedal for just a few stitches, then stop and lift the presser foot. See if you can untangle the threads and pull them from whatever they are stuck on, and lay them so they are behind the presser foot and to the left. Before you start, make sure all the threads are completely under the presser foot and not on top of it. Hope that helps!
I have inherited the exact machine i may have a few questions i know nothing about this 😅 I got part way through your video. What type of needles do you use in yours
Hello! I use the Schmetz Universal needles. You can get them here on our website :) www.shoppindrop.com/shop/c/p/Schmetz-Universal-Sewing-Machine-Needles---Variety-5-pack-x61450394.htm
I no longer have this machine so I can't film anything with it but maybe if you pause the video where you see the blade and compare it to yours you could figure out where it should be.
I would like to see the chaining/looping process close up in slow motion. I've got the same model, replaced the broken upper looper, threaded the machine as you showed and as the manual says, but when I'm manually turning the wheel it's not forming the chain - all threads are straight, no loops form around the stitch finger. I just would like to see how it should work properly, so maybe I could adjust the loopers and fix the problem. Thank you.
@@pindropshop I'm not hitting the pedal - I'm doing chaining off slowly manually - don't want to mess up the machine on the full speed, knowing that it needs the adjustment first.
@@naturewatcher7596 as long as no parts are hitting each other I think it should be safe to hit the pedal and see if it does anything but I'll get you a video of that working up close. :)
@@pindropshop I've just slightly adjusted the position of the upper looper, so it's not too close to the needles and not hitting the lower looper and the chain started to form. Now I just need to find the proper tension to get a perfect stitching. Thank you.
wondering if anyone has advice on the thread getting wrapped around the stitch finger? (i just discovered what a stitch finger was actually) we got this machine a couple months ago and haven’t been able to form chains. i was fiddling with it again tonight and discovered the thread looping around the stitch finger and i assume that is what makes the thread eventually pop and come unthreaded? i’ve adjusted the tension a few times idk i’m just really struggling with this
Hmm is it getting stuck on the presser foot on the underside? The thread should wrap around the stitch finger but then the chains should come off of it.
To do a rolled hem you need to be able to disengage the stitch finger which cannot easily be done on this machine, unless they make some kind of other plate that doesn't have one. You can do a narrow hem which is close to the same though. Remove one of the needles, turn your lower looper thread up to about 8, and see if that will give you a look close to what you want.
I'm not familiar with the 6300. As long as everything is working and it's worth it to you to have a serger then I don't think that's terrible. But if I were in the market for a serger I would make sure I got one with differential feed and I don't believe that one has it.

Thanks, glad to hear it! It's a nice little machine. Awesome that you still have yours.

SO Happy to hear that, Lisa!! Thank you for watching and I hope you have lots of fun with that machine.
I had someone gift me this machine - it was their mom’s who passed away. I’m excited to use it. Thank you for the tutorial.

Yes, do you mean around 12:15? The other hole in the lower loop before the main hole?
I bought one for 50.00 you explain very well
Good deal. Thank you so much. Glad you enjoyed.
You missed a thread guide for the blue tension.
And also needle plate for double needles Toyota serger sl 3400 also
Just threaded mine after sitting in the garage for who knows how long. Thanks
