  • A large storm with heavy rain, gale force winds and thunderstorms was approaching. The forecast wasn't looking good so I headed out searching for a spot to set up camp. I had lots of yum food and coffee to consume so chilled out and enjoyed the conditions. I hope you like the video and thanks for watching.

    New subscriber and looking at your camps from the first one forward. That was an epic camp. It is interesting how different each NZ camper responds to the conditions. I was pleased to see you had the addition of a tarp. My Dad was a keen tarp and tent camper. The addition of a tarp makes such a difference to the level of comfort in bush camping. Thanks for sharing your experiences.

      Hey Sharon, thankyou for your awesome comment!! Do you get out camping like your dad used to? Yes I agree with you about the tarp, it makes such a difference to been able to sit out in the conditions. In my latest video, I regret not setting it up because it started to snow after dark and that would've been an amazing experience. Thankyou for watching and subscribing, I really appreciate it 🙏

      Hey thanks for your great comment 🙏 How do you like the Unna? The tarp setup is awesome and it just gives you soo much more shelter room to sit outside under the elements 👌

      @@richieoutdoorsnz Couldn't be happier with it, aside from top build quality and minimal fuss setup it just meets all my main comfort requirements. I'm about 185cm and the Unna is tall enough to sit up straight without my head touching the ceiling (in a large section around the center), long enough to sleep with my feet and head unmolested by inner tent fabric, and wide enough to fit a 65cm mattress and 75 litre pack so all my stuff is safe from rain and bugs overnight (I don't trust insects) I have the footprint as well and it makes such a nice space for cooking and such when you unhook the two bottom hooks from the inner. I can definitely see how it would feel like a palace with the tarp added on!

      I also like the fact that it is so roomy inside as I too keep all my stuff inside overnight. It definitely has all the space you could want and fantastic build quality 👌

      Hey Jody, thanks so much for subscribing, I really appreciate it 🙏 Yes in NZ, on the North Island. The Beech trees around where I go camping are cool!! I think they look like over-sized bonsai trees. Not much wildlife around here except for birdlife and insects. Dear hunters frequent the National Park but I've never come across one. We have nothing in our forests or parks that want to attack you, or make you a meal, its very safe 😊

      @@richieoutdoorsnz 是的,我在遥远的中国也使用hilleberg ,我拥有过很多帐篷,但最终留下了soulo .和allak,我认为他们是完美的,我认为徒步旅行自立帐篷是基本要求,因为这样才能在岩石上搭建,来应对各种情况,在中国hilleber被称为帐篷皇帝,人们追捧它,但是令人遗憾的是它并不在中国本土销售,我只能通过台湾购买,其实我以前考虑过unna ,因为我在UA-cam看见它被很多人追捧,但是我的朋友劝住了我,说徒步野外,没有前厅真的是一个大麻烦,现在看来似乎是这样,因为你也需要搭建一个天幕来增加前厅使用,这样似乎显的很麻烦了。在中国有上万种品牌的帐篷,我不是嫌它们不够好,而是这些帐篷都不能给我安全的感觉,在野外,安全永远是第一位,我认为hilleberg是唯一的选择,这是我的个人看法,期待你新的视频作品,加油朋友!

    • @richieoutdoorsnz
      @richieoutdoorsnz  3 місяці тому

      Hey Hamza thanks for contacting me. Sure yes I can help you with some points to get started and things to consider.
      Bare in mind I've only been doing this for 6 months off and on, but this is my point of view. Would be great if other viewers join this message chat for their ideas too.
      Firstly decide what your budget is for your camping gear and camera gear.
      Camera gear can start as simple as a smartphone and a little tripod. A lot of big youtubers started this way and built their rig up as they could afford to. The next step on the budget level would be a mirrorless/digital camera with an interchangeable lens.....something wide angle with a bit of a zoom. Don't forget to budget in for extra batteries, media storage cards and a carry bag.
      Regarding the camping gear, this depends on your location and where you will be camping. Cold mountain snow camping gear is a lot different, and costlier, to warm climate summer camping.
      Basics would be a tent, sleeping bag, mattress, backpack, cooking gear and appropriate clothing/waterproof gear. Also seriously don't overlook your safety gear ie PLB, maps, torch, first aid kit etc
      This is such a huge topic to discuss and its hard to know what you are intending to do. Reply to me and I can help you more when I know your intentions and budget level.
      Also You tubers I follow who are excellent on these topics are @JevonDovey @OscarHikes @eric_hanson
      Look forward to hearing from you 🙏

      Hey Majesty, I am 100% hearing you!! I almost bailed my first time, but I sat the fear out, then broke the process down into small managable parts and took my time with everything. I didnt hike very far on my first adventure either. I also tested the setup of all my gear so had confidence in what I was doing. Go for it!! You wont look back I promise 🙏 Let me know how you get on ok!!
