I've always been very interested in geography and of course the leaders of different countries. Haile Selassie was someone during my teenage years that I was especially interested in and so I cannot wait for this to be produced and released!!
Selasi was a great man but no saint. Many died and suffered under his rule. But as usual the media pushes whatever agenda it has - best wishes to them.
As an Ethiopian, the truth we know about the story of being descendant of solomonic dynasty is just a false narrative created to gain acceptance in the society b/c the emperor's parents are well known & not related to the claim.
It is unsupported. There is no corroboration of Queen "Makeda" and King Solomon's descendants being the former rulers of Abyssinia, now Ethiopia. Btw, we call her Saba in Eritrea as well as Yemen. Hence the Sabean Kingdom.
Emperor Haile Selassie gave my father an opportunity and blessing that lasted long through generations of our family. There was a program at the time in Ethiopia that he’d send high ranking students abroad to study economics. My father studied at Haile Selassie University, now known as Addis University and went on to received his PhD, eventually a work visa followed by permanent residency through an amnesty program. He became a well respected economist at his university, and globally following some of his publications. It created a spiral of success and good fortune in our family and for that we forever keep Emperor Selassie’s name alive within our family.

@@fasileyayu Wow! You can not be serious. How can earning and honoring someone’s intellectual capabilities and accomplishments materialistic? Also, my father was unable to return. Once Haile was assassinated, the government that took power no longer wanted him to return. He was no purpose to them. Hence the issued him another student visa to make use of his services elsewhere and told him he on his way, basically. The thought of you even coming on here to say such a thing is mind boggling. I am sorry the same blessings didn’t happen to you and your family, but nothing you say can deter me from understanding those that occurred in mine. I wish you well, peace and love.

@@kanyewest2.066 Most of the current day Eritrea was part of Ethiopia before the Italians. You call it forceful annexed now but during that time it was believed the right thing to do.
@@mamokilo no not at all. Eritrea was in a federation with Ethiopia, yes, but Eritrea was supposed to get independent after 10 years. I always wondered why can't I not see something about this man and his family, am so happy that they're putting a film together about his life.
Selasi was a great man but no saint. Many died and suffered under his rule. But as usual the media pushes whatever agenda it has - best wishes to them.
It’s sadden me when the news lady said that he was thought to be of Solomon’s descendants. As if was an unsupported claim
Book of 1 Kings says Solomon “had seven hundred wives, princesses, and three hundred concubines." Seems totally possible to me.
White ppl think they OWN Christianity , but Ethiopians spoke similar language to of Jesus spoke ,
As an Ethiopian, the truth we know about the story of being descendant of solomonic dynasty is just a false narrative created to gain acceptance in the society b/c the emperor's parents are well known & not related to the claim.
It is unsupported. There is no corroboration of Queen "Makeda" and King Solomon's descendants being the former rulers of Abyssinia, now Ethiopia. Btw, we call her Saba in Eritrea as well as Yemen. Hence the Sabean Kingdom.
@@yw4039 Haile Selassie's mother was reputedly a Muslima, and would not be accepted.
Maybe your family was lucky to benefit from him but he was deplorable and a fraud in grand scheme of thing. He failed millions upon millions.
@@sareeyemanusqaame8723 Isn’t that the story behind every politician? Name one that did right by everyone. And if I’m not mistaken, I would much prefer Haile than the communist government that took over after him…I’m sure the stories following are much more horrific.

Once Haile was assassinated, the government that took power no longer wanted him to return. He was no purpose to them.
