Akasa Air delivered arguably the best budget airline experience I've ever had. By a trick of fate they have temporarily ended up with an aircraft with first class seats, and for a modest upgrade...you can sit there! Their 737MAX was a fine way to travel between Delhi and Bombay and the unexpectedly personal service and affordable catering left a big impression on me. Even without the big seats, this is an airline hoping to impress and expand, and I'm excited to see what happens with this smart new airline in the years ahead.

I appreciate that those are just “temporary” seats but that looked amazing for a budget airline. Thanks for showing me an airline I’ve never seen before.
I really think that more low cost airlines should offer wider seats like this, there's got to be a demand for low cost business class. Just a few rows of this on airlines like RyanAir would definitely get used.
Surely putting wider seats and Ryanair together is like mixing crisps with yoghurt.
@@idk111train9 I disagree, a few rows of wider seats that they can charge more for us entirely in keeping with Ryanair.
FlyDubai offers this option. Some nice BC seats IMO
@@idk111train9haha! I used to do that as a child. I recall enjoying it :)
Exactly! New aircraft like the Airbus A321-XLR are small but have the range for transatlantic and intercontinental travel, and more of them can be fielded in for what it cost to operate the wide-body aircraft they replaced. With that, budget airlines can offer “Low cost business class” without sacrificing seat capacity.
Correction: This is terminal 2 of IGI airport. As can also be seen from the shot at 00:32
Yes thank you! My mistake
To answer your question, yes I do miss when you don't leave a comment when you enter a plane. Great video!
Paul's reviews are professional, positive and well-balanced. Like his humour that needs close observation.
Welcome to India. Have a nice time. 👏👍😊 One of the best reviewers out there.
Wow. The seat layout looked amazing for a budget airline. Now to persuade Easyjet and Ryanair to upgrade their seats!! 😁
Ryanair: what if we removed seats and made people stand?
@@thelonesculler haven't they looked at that already?? 😡
@@thelonesculler😂😂😂 im sure they will try
I travel through Hyderabad (domestic) a lot. Forget the lounge. Head to the Cock & Bull inn. It's quiet and comfortable and the food is good and cheap.
I always like the sneaky comments when you touch the plane. Although i end up having to fast forward and pause repeatedly to get it spot on.
Absolutely fantastic trip report as always Paul! Idk why but Delhi T1 has always reminded me in video to the old Delta terminal at LGA
The seat configuration looks very similar to the United 787 Premium Plus (premium economy) seat.
Very much miss the captions. It’s fun 🤩 it’s like Finding Where’s Wally 😂 the seats colour matches your eye colour 🩵💙🩵💙
One of the reasons I like your content is that you're not in it for self-gratification and selfies with the crew.
I just loved how one of the pilot said 'flight to BOMBAY'. I thought you had been to Mumbai before. Hope you enjoyed your couple of days stay in Mumbai.
Wow 🤩 What an excellent video Paul! I cannot wait to fly with Akasa Air 🇮🇳 someday for sure now! I’ve added them to my list now and I MUST try them when I visit India someday! 🎉🎉 Especially on a lovely new B737 MAX 8 (which has a space between MAX AND 8 BTW) Especially as I always love flying on 737s and a new 737 MAX is no exception! 🎉 Also the low low prices would attract me to fly them as well especially since it looks particularly cheap and a steal of a deal even for a low cost carrier! I wish Frontier or something was that cheap here in the USA 🇺🇸 😂😂
Cheers mate 🥂
Caleb’s Aviation
I'm glad you got to try this product before it goes away. It'd been nice if they kept it that way and re did the whole fleet. Thanks for sharing
Welcome to India Paul. Finally we see you review the Indian airlines. I would love to see you review Air india US and Europe routes and compare it to the peers...
Great vlog as always! India and grand plans for airlines like Kingfisher and Jet. Oh well. Keep up the good work. Be safe!
can remember when you hit 100,000 subscribers and decided to do this full time, glad you did
Thanks William!
I Havent Experience Akasa Air Yet..Great Trip Report
Loved watching it.
Interesting video. And USD$21.00 for first class! Incredible. Thanks Paul💚👌
Another nice video. By the way, Cairo International Airport still require a proof of itinerary before accessing the check-in area but at least you are no more required to print it out. An image of it on your mob should be fine.
I thought A++ was the seat rating then i remembered that grade is not a thing at all in the UK you’d call it A* lol!
Terminal T2, is a temporary terminal which is being used by bigger budget airlines since Terminal 1 is expanding and heavy construction work is going on. The New Terminal 1 is almost complete and is going to start soon
Thank you Paul!
I know this is a random question but where is the best place to book flights? I am moving to Canada in March 2024 and want to book early enough to get a good deal
Great video! Not bad for $21. :D
Nice coverage
Very interesting ! Thanks a lot for this video 🙂
Great video and would like to know the turbulence situation there with the extremely warm air.
Mostly the flights between Delhi and Mumbai are quite smooth
Did miss the captions. I prefer them :)
Well, solid, sweet solid ground
You should check out the latest Terminal 2 in Banglore international airport. Its stunning.
Enjoyed this,
Great flight review as always. Great score with the seating. Yes, I do miss it when you don't include a fuselage touch caption! 😆 It sounded like the guy doing the flight announcement on the plane was saying "Bombay" rather than the new name of Mumbai, which surprised me. I listened to it several times to check if I misheard, but it definitely sounded like Bombay. Perhaps it was just his accent. Your opinion?
He definitely said Bombay 😊
Good job 👍
Do miss the captions..just wish the font was a shade larger...
Great flight
I’ve flown domestically with AkasA air from terminal 2
Thanks Mate
Good video
Paul, are you coming to Oshkosh this year? Noel is already here.
You came back to India, nice; and interesting you mentioned Go First which is now under insolvency and trying to get back up. The cost of aeroplane food from an average Indian's perspective is very steep and usually is around 7 to 8 times what you get in the city. Hopefully you will be able to find a difference in your Air India experience from your previous travel with airline as Tata has taken over the airline now.
7 to 8 times are you serious it's 4 times the price maximum
Yes, Paul, I do miss it ;-)
Great trip report Paul!
World's longest flight? Lesgooooo. Looking forward to hearing your thoughts compared to Noel Philips and Nonstop Dan
Really cool new airline
Nice video
hope this airline does not go the same way as JET AIRWAYS. That was an unbelievable airline, first class service with reasonable prices. I wish they were still around :(
Indigo is already under-cutting Akasha.
Please purchase tickets and promote through Word of Mouth.
1:35 Ah! The Classic chaos before departure. Must be a cancellation.
I love thé fact that there was a flap for holding a phone.
Yes, I do miss when you don't add a caption. As for India, I was there for a month back in 2015.
Did I hear the flight announcement correctly... did he refer to your destination as Bombay?
Yes he did. It's actually Mumbai.
@@som3107 Hi Som, that is the airport I flew in and out of when I went in 2015. I was just mildly surprised to hear the city referred to in its old Anglicized name.
@@beckeb00 Exactly. Actually it should be referred to as Mumbai as official name. That was very unprofessional on his part. It was an official announcement of an airline and not a personal call.
Wow I’ve never seen a 737 with so much leg room! Great factual video!
7:47 (neat timestamp by the way) - yes, I do miss it when you don’t include a caption 😂
Always good times travelling in and through India🤣Been there, done that, not looking forward to it again!
I’ve never heard of Akasa Air. I’m thoroughly intrigued.
We really set the bar high in Airline Drama and it was sad to hear about Jet Airways because they were really good.
India has IndiGo, Air India, and Akasa Air. Even if a truncated Jet Airways managed to relaunch, it would have trouble making headway against those three.
You didn't need a printout in 2019, and not now as well. Showing it on your phone will work. Terminal 1 is working in a temporary state, and will reopen in its new avatar in 2024 which will add another 20 MPPA to DEL. These Akasa 737s have these 1st class seats as they were meant for erstwhile Jet Airways and due to supply chain issues, Akasa is operating it in its flyaway form. A++ will go away when their original seats are available. Wi-fi is not something yet approved in India on planes. Entertainment over Wi-fi is not available on any Indian LCC, only Vistara has it. Hope this info is useful! Cheers!
Malai-Dramatic is still under review for being a good pun.
Great review as always. However, since the first class seats are due to be substituted by standard seats, not many travelers will have the opportunity to fly Akasa Air in as nice a manner as you did. But it is good to know that the airline offers good personal service. Not something I’m likely to check out, though. The air over the cities in India appears more polluted than I had imagined. I think I’ll spare my lungs the experience.
Do they offer a straw first Class
Never departed from T1 but have arrived here 2-3 times. It's a chaos everytime 😂
Its actually T2 which he has shown.
@@adirox7 but T1 is chaos for sure 🤣
Nice video Riyadh Air Comes 2025 flying condor airline Seattle to Frankfurt
Funny how Jet Airways ordered craft became Akasa Air.Akasa means Jet
Hiya Paul, another great video. First class seats on a budget carrier, what a 'coup'! Just to check, did the pre-flight announcement refer Mumbai as Bombay or did I mis-hear?
Yes, Mumbai and Bombay are used interchangeably inside India.
these seats look similar to WowAir's big seat, too bad they went out of business in 2019
Welcome to India.
What did you make of Mumbai, Paul? I lived there for 8 months back in the 90s and although it's probably very different now, I loved it's overcrowded madness!! And it is a stunning city.
It's changed a lot with a new metro, flyovers and new skyscrapers in South Mumbai. Even Dharavi slum is getting a makeover soon.
1:39, just a casual conversation between passengers of a scheduled airline that got delayed and the airline's staff. Nothing unusual in India 😂
5:06 😂😂😂
This blue eyed man so handsome
But if I click that subscribe button, it un-subscribes me, something I think that you don't want me to do. Cost wise it seems like a good return for the $$$ that you spent. Thanks for sharing it with us.
Flying in India is a nightmare, They don't do queues, just a big scrum down.
Don't lie ok
Great video and an amazing flight.
I'd like to see you visit Pakistan.
Keep it up.
Maybe one day! Thanks!
@@Paul_Lucas You're welcome.
You should have taken train from Mumbai to Delhi rather than flight... Also you should have traveled by Mumbai Local Railway😅 It's fun
Thank god Indian airports restrict access to actual travellers , ultimate civilisation, wish other countries would do the same
Visitors can get in by buying a visit ticket. But people rarely do so.
@@vijgai3 where I have never heard about this, is it similar to a platform ticket?
I simply don't understand the point of this video at all. A review of a class of seat that will be discontinued in the very near future with no real benefits other than some extra width and greater recline than in economy. It smacks of "I did it because I could" Does it inspire people to yearn to fly something that's non-standard and that'll be non-existent in a few months? As I've said a pointless, waste of time review.
i disagree, i love these videos he could fly from stansted to spain with ryanair and id happyly watch it. If you don't like it you don't have to watch.
