    Such a great soundtrack, thank you for uploading this! I love how distinct this work is. A lot of people prefer the original's OST but I think that's just from how impressive the orchestrated menu and first level tracks are, the rest of the OST isn't as strong as Zwei's. Personally, as lovely as a western classical / orchestral sound is, I think this eastern ethno-electro sound suits the otherworldy nature of Panzer dragoon much more. What a wonderful and underrated soundtrack / game!

      This comment captures exactly how I feel perfectly. Indeed, Zwei for me refines and solidifies what the series tries (and succeeds!) to convey in terms of atmosphere. Thanks for the fantastic comment and natural6feel free to listen anytime.

      @@ClockedIt Totally agree with you on Zwei's refinement. The original was great on it's own but it acts as a marvellous springboard for what is to come. I love the atmosphere of them both, but there are so many moments in Zwei where the game just lets you drink it in unfiltered; gliding down from the mountains in Chapter 2 or watching the ship you're chasing fly above you in Chapter 5. Atmosphere for me is one of the most important parts of a game and this series has it in spades.
      I wonder how Saori Kobayashi will handle reworking this OST for the remake. I think she did a great job of redoing the original's (again outside of those 2 orchestral tracks which can't be matched on MIDI) and I think this sound is closer to her own style so I'm quite optimistic.

    • @ClockedIt
      @ClockedIt  2 роки тому +5

      @@Geraintbro95 Saori is a goddess in video game audio form and I fully trust her on the re-imagining of Zwei's OST; I just hope that the game itself is given more attention than what I feel the original remake was, which I documented a number of times on this channel. Zwei is a top five Saturn game to me and it just means too much for a remake to not do it the justice it deserves. But yeah, Zwei has that type of OST where no matter what track is played, you're instantly transported to the level and the moment. Perfection.

Try to save up your berserk attack by shooting more things with your gun and in case of this boss, shoot his red orb attacks with your gun and keep using your dragons lasers on all his body parts. The PAL version is even better. The game wasn't fully-optimised so the soundtrack was padded in places to make up for it. Destiny Begins is a prime example. I wouldn't be surprised if they wrote the PAL score first and went from there for the 60Hz versions.

I just listened to resurrection for the 20th anniversary PDS and it was kinda disappointing hearing how different they made the songs compared to the original. Of course this wasn't all songs, but I really don't understand why they didn't just remaster the songs...why did they have to put their own spin on it. If it was supposed to be a remix album, it should have been advertised as such. I don't feel that they respected PDS with that one. ehhhhh, unfortunately the resurrection album sounded way to techno in my opinion. When you listen to PDS OST, you get a lot wind instruments that give a tribal tone. You also get an amazing drum beat that really drives the music. You see, part of the joy of Panzer Dragoon is that everything feels archaic. Everyone is living in a time where technology isn't widely used. The music really fit well into that environment. Now there is definitely technology and futuristic stuff in this as well and using the techno sounds for those levels would have been fine, but they chose to add it to a lot of their songs. It just felt really disrespectful to the original content. I'm glad people enjoyed it, but I'll stick with the OG.
      I watched your video and yes, SEGA ain't the same company they once were, but at the same time, they aren't creating this, they are producing it. I don't know anything about Forever Enertainment or megapixel studio, but I have faith in them. I'm sure they all know how much this franchise means to a lot of niche fans. There were some things that did make me feel uneasy in their statement, mainly about making the game more modern and whatnot....I don't know what that means and they kept it very vague...I guess we'll see, but I am very excited and await more news :D

      Lol not sure about the Jetsons part, but I think it does well with establishing that moving quickly through a maze like structure with a bit of chaos in the mix.

      @@ClockedIt oh definitely I've come to love the track even though the level itself absolutely rips me a new one every time in terms of me trying for 100% shot down. that said the tonic-tritone-dominant motif is straight up out of the Jetsons, or even the beginning of the Simpsons theme

      @@trarialtrarial Yeah it's a fast level with a lot of enemies. It's rare even for me to 100% that level every time.

      For me the influence of Emerson Lake & Palmer and other 70's psychedelic rock bands is pretty clear on that track. Not for nothing PD in highly influenced by Moebius, who belonged to that culture. Edit: an example ua-cam.com/video/g8zbMbCskuI/v-deo.html

    An awesome soundtrack however not as good as the first game - that is orchestral!

      I won't argue over preference heh but there's certainly tracks in Zwei that imo stand toe to toe with the original game for other reasons. Both are different sounding games in many ways, but both capture that atmosphere and sense of mysticism and adventure we so love from this series.

    Am I the only one who thinks this soundtrack heavily influenced The Legend of Dragoon's?
