Wow. This Mortal Coil?? Really? I can’t believe you’re listening to this! One of my all time favorite songs! This just puts me into another state of consciousness. I LOVE that you liked this!! Wow!!
All of that atmosphere is being created with guitar effects. You've listened to Cocteau Twins. It's essentially them. Their record label put out three albums called This Mortal Coil of mainly really beautiful cover songs done by artists on the label.
Beautiful. Turned on to the 4 A.D. label in 1982. That independent label is completely saturated with alternative music of many styles. Dead Can Dance is my favorite...Cocteau Twins too.
Very unique that someone is reacting to This Mortal Coil. Elisabeth Fraser. This Song. Song To The Siren. Not many know of the haunting, deep, soul shredding , soft power of this song.. Sheer Depth. Raw emotional Power. Rare song that the vast majority of people have never heard.. Loved that you did this.
To date Elizabeth Fraser has officially recorded 5 (released songs ) with Massive Attack 1.Teardrop 2.Silent Spring 3. Black Milk 4. Black Melt 5. Group Four In addition she has performed several songs live with them
Any number of Cocteau Twins songs.. Lovers Who are Seekers.. Half-Treasures.. Her rearrangement of syllables and creative language make for a luscious tapestry.
It always reminds me of the track at the end of Gladiator. There are some similar chords and angelic echo to the tones. If I rememebr correctly it's the scene where he comes thru the wheat grains to be reunited with his wife
Yeah, the female vocals on that track are by Lisa Gerrard. She has been with the band, Dead Can Dance since 1981. Vocally, her and Liz are similar and both were on the 4AD label and both on the 1984 This Mortal Coil album, It'll End In Tears which is a classic masterpiece.
I remember this one from David Lynch's "Lost Highway" but I prefer the original by Tim Buckley and the cover by John Frusciante. She just goes a little too ape-shit with the circular phrasing for my taste, which causes her to abort landing, so to speak but to each their own. I wonder if the "muffled" one you played first was pulled straight from the movie with all the various movie sounds interfering with it.
When you say the original do you mean the over-exposed Monkees and Radio Broadcast versions, or the one Liz Fraser/Ivo W Russell were actually inspired by: ua-cam.com/video/2pxvXI1i9cw/v-deo.html ?
One of the most beautiful melodies ever written, and this arrangement and production, add to that Elizabeth Frazers voice. Magic!

A very atmospheric take on the simply brilliant and flawless Tim Buckley original.

She sings so beautifully yet haunting …. Whewww I love it❤️
Liz Frazer was quite the mysterious one back in the day from what I’ve heard. Many would go to her performances and be completely captivated by her.
Not heard this in so long. It’s fabulous so atmospheric. I got the shivers
She is amazing, you're right about that! I love her beautiful voice so much .💗
What can one say,awesome vocals,awesome song,awesome sound,that is all.
Thanks for reacting to this one, Tre. I haven't heard this song in many years and frankly forgot about it. I bought this CD 30 years ago!
She also sang the lament for Gandalf in the two towers after he fell fighting the Balrog..
One of my favourites.
Amazing song, amazing artist! I love them a lot!
Gald someone requested this to you. Her vocals are so beautiful here. My fav cover song of hers.

@@jasonegeland1446 good call..
Elizabeth Frazer same lady sings on the Dr House theme!
Some have said she is "the voice of God" but at the very least, she is a goddess.
Try one by them called Sixteen days gathering dust. It's good stuff. You might also check out a cover of The tracks of my tears by Carmel. Very good.
Heaven on Earth.
singers from my town
Best accents in the world in my book.
