Haha I can identify with this so much. I'm 33 years and just got into motorcycles a year ago. Riding my own Interceptor 650 since 3 months now in and around Berlin /Germany. I put 4500km on it since that including a 2600km motorbike tour through the whole of Germany in 12 days together with my girlfriend as a pillion. Seriously this bike did it all for us. Up and down mountains, through forests with gravel roads and all of this fully loaded with side bags, fuel tank bag and a massive bagpack strapped behind my girlfriend. All of this worked perfectly for us. Every time we stopped the 60+ generation came up to us and initiated a conversation which was great. Happy to see more young people with a taste for these modern classics @FreeMilesMC

Great video, I have same bike and surf too. I do my own servicing and it's proved to be reliable {12000miles). I remember seeing a surf rack on a bike for the first time back in the seventies, always fancied trying it but never did, so it's great to see you succeeding in your latest travel videos.
Good to see somebody younger being a bit unconventiona too , I love your honesty and how you are not afraid to show what a pain in the arse travelling in all weather's on a bike can be sometimes, also your surf footage is very much in line with how the surf is here in the UK, keep on keeping on ! 👍

What a coincidence! The Royal Enfield Road Show made a stop near my hometown two days ago, so I had the opportunity to ride both the Continental GT and the Interceptor. While the Conti was a lot of fun, it directly put me into hooligan mode… aggressive riding position, nice sound, plenty of fun in the city. The Interceptor, however, is a totally different animal, although the bikes are technically almost identical. Relaxed riding position, same great engine and sound, comfortable and made for cruising. Can’t wait to see the new content from your next trip!
You definitely bought a beauty at a more than reasonable price, especially considering the touring extras. Have fun!

I've had an Interceptor for 9 months and about 2,400 miles. I'm still happy with it. It checks quite a few boxes for me: it looks *great*, it sounds great, gets great gas mileage (about 55-60mpg), it handles well, there's lots of aftermarket stuff. It'll cruise all day at 75mph no problem. Power and torque are plenty for most purposes. The brakes work fine, the ergonomics are fine. And it has a likeable personality.
But it's not a bike I'd want to ride to Alaska on. Or even 200 miles. The reason being that the suspension and seat are kind of stiff and cobby. Around town it's fine but it wouldn't be fun riding it all day long. That and the right mirror vibrates. Also, it's hard to impossible to read the digital gas display in bright sunlight. Those are my only complaints.
I've got four bikes in the garage and the Interceptor is my main squeeze.

So this is my third summer on a baker Express!
After ditching the seat the unbalanced Brazilian pirelli tires and a better battery I've had absolutely no issues!
I put a lot of modifications on it because that's just me. I made it into a cruiser before Royal Enfield came out with the super meteor cruiser. And I think I like mine better than theirs even though I haven't tried the super meteor yet!
I'll tell you one thing they did right for sure is that motor! The motor is put together like a Swiss watch and coupling it with a super smooth six-speed tranny what else can go wrong nothing! Nothing that matters because everything else is good. Some guys first thing they do is change the exhaust dude it's stainless steel and it sounds mellow...I like that. I don't really care for the loud pipes. The suspension and brakes are fine. Throw on a ranger windshield, relatively inexpensive and some handlebar risers, handguards, heated grips and she's a super capable cruiser. I should say "he" because I named him sleepy Joe after the president, because he gave me the down payment!
You will not regret owning this bike I guarantee!
PS I have a boat I named trumpy because he gave me the down payment for the boat it already capsized twice!

Now what I have done this summer is I bought a second hand R1200RT from 2007 with 2500gbp and went on tour for 2 weeks in Europe, England-France-Belgium-Germany-Switzerland-Italy-Spain-France-England, all in all 3300miles/5500Km, it was absolutely amazing and the bike had 0 issues, I can say RT is an amazing bike, yes I did all the service by myself in the shed before leaving, but now I have 3 BMW bikes, K1200RS 2001, k1200LT 2002 and the newest acquired R1200RT 2007, I don't think I will ever buy another type, make, of a bike, because BMWs are amazing...my own opinion of course.

A very good bike for the home mechanic to maintain. As it's oil cooled, use the best oil available and change it regularly - don't skimp on this. Lock and nut valves will need frequent inspection but it's a simple job. Don't use a pressure washer on this bike! Frequent use of XCP Clear Coat or similar will be needed to keep it looking good.

Cool. That’s not too bad one. But what about Honda Rebel 300 or 500? Are they really more expensive than RE? I’ve got myself Rebel, because it’s same price ish but way more advanced. Particularly its weight.

yes its good bike and its cheap. though on freeways, may feel wanting more bhp. and those tubed tyres when punctures on tour, god help us.

Mmm in the reliability area on touring or off road those tubed tyres are a bit of a liability, tubeless would be better 😊

If RE made a Himalayan-like bike with ~50 hp, the thing would sell like hot buns in Europe!

Did you see the spy shots? RE has a 450 water cooled Dual Sport / ADV in the making. Should put out around 40-50 hp if the rumors are correct.

@@papajulietromeo-650 So far Enfield failed to get real horsepowers out off smaller engines. If that rumour is true, they will explode in sales! That would be an absolutely perfect bike for many many thousands of European motorcyclists! 🤩

@@zweispurmopped Yeah, the air/oil cooled thumpers, designed for the hot climate in their home country, aren’t the most powerful units. Hopefully the new water cooled engine will be more on par with their competitors.
A Scram 450 with around 45 hp and less than 190 kg would be nice… but it seems as if they also want to release a scrambler based on the 650 twin.

@@papajulietromeo-650 That engine needs to go into the Himalayan frame before anything else! Imagine a simpleton steel frame bike like the Himy with a decent 45hp engine and actual potential to dig through mud, sand and climb mountains! That would fill the gap the Trans Alp left open! That coming at the price of a good second hand Tans Alp would be a huge hit!

@@zweispurmopped google Himalayan 452 … the Himi will be the first to receive the new engine. Seems to be more like 40 hp, but still… if it puts out decent torque, 40 hp should be enough.
