Love the blankets and the shawl. My daughter loved the video at the end, thank you for taking us with you. So cool to see the different animals there. :)
Hi there. I love the animal orphanage. Thank you for the tour. I love animals , wild and domesticated. I have 3 mini dachies and a cockatiel. I live out of town (Pietermaritzburg Kwa Zulu Natal South Africa) on a an estate with a dam and love the birdlife around us. I really enjoyed your pod today. Fond Regards Ann Kobus.
First want to say how much I enjoyed your Episode 26 and I adore you. Love the shawl and especially the animal walk. Very interesting and entertaining.
Oh wow, that shawl is really cool! I like the length. Here in Michigan, cool/cold is most common, except in the summer months. I guess I should introduce myself. I have been hiding in the shadows of your channel for a couple weeks, trying to get a feel for it. I am a mother of two, struggling through life, with only the comforts of creation. youtube actually suggested your videos to me because of my following Holly on her Proper Pineapple page
Hi Sabrina!! So nice to meet you! Thank you for taking the time to share! My first C2C borders were atrocious!!! Absolutely ghastly. But knowing how to start it out smoothly makes all the difference. :) xx
Love the color you have on and in your shawl! Your favorite colors are my favorites too. I would like to learn the cable stitch, very intimidated by it. Loved the animal orphanage. ❤️❤️
I have been watching a few weeks now and commented a few times, but not if ive introduced myself.im Sandra ans i live in Tasmania the small island at the bottom of Australia.i taught myself to crochet atabout 8 years old at Brownies.i became disabled a few years ago and im very restricted, so crochet has become my life oh and you tube.lol. ive taught my middle daughter to crochet and she is a whizz amd teached herself all sorts plus is a leftie.we both have a shameful secret,we are yarn hoarders and are mad on sparkly yarn at present.i have 2 grandbaby girls, and the youngest only 8months will be made to crochet, lol. Love the shawl & its stunning yarn. I haven't caught the shawl bug but this one it on the top of list, once I get bitten. Totally enjoyed your zoo clips! I am Mare, I live in NJ but I am from NY. I do lots of handcrafts and needlework. Been hand crafting since I was a child but like you knitting has never been my thing. I have knit some items but I adore crocheting. It is my stress buster. Right now I am working some baby thing for upcoming baby showers.
Hi Mare! So nice to meet you!! ...there was a hairdressing show from NY ages ago... used to LOVE watching it! All the stray tan and nails and hair. DARN! Can't remember the name. Hilarious! Such a hoot. So glad you found us and are enjoying the ramblings! That's awesome! Big hugs! xx!

Hi, Christa. My name is Lucy Kate from Texas USA. I am catching up on your Podcasts. I hope you do a tutorial on the brown sweater vest. I have enjoyed watching all of your podcasts.
Hi Christa, the blankets look like they're coming along nicely. Loving the shawl, especially the colour way you used. To answer your question, I have trouble with broom stick lace crochet, as I have trouble keeping the stitches even. Congratulations on your anniversary in a few days. 💜🌹😊.
I did my own version of the secret paths shawl too, I used Lion Brand Mandala yarn so mine was a lot smaller. I love how yours turned out, great colors!!!
I'm just getting a chance to watch this podcast! HAPPY ANNIVERSARY!!! 💖💖 I get so tickled with you and your faces 😍! You are so original and LOVE YOU! I don't like doing the front post or back post stitches-ugh! By the way, I posted my completed WIP on your Facebook Page! My grandson's Autism Awareness blanket. OMG Monkey gymnastics! 😂😂😂😂
RiiiiiiIIIIIIIIGHT??? Those darn MONKEYS!! Shocking. And a little scarring, truth be told. ha ha ha! Oh my GOSH - The AUTISM BLANKET! That was sheer GENIUS. Loved it. Saw it on my phone, and try not to comment because it shows up as my person profile - not the yarnery. But that was IMPRESSIVE! SO well done. xx!!
I was able to change my profile picture thanks to your instructions on another video. This is my tuxedo cat Hattie Potter 😄as always loved your podcast. always a fun time!
New viewer from Kentucky! Loving your podcast so far! I look forward to looking at the past ones to learn more about your time In Kenya! Thanks for sharing
Happy anniversary to you and your husband on Friday I hope you have a wonderful day. I have a nightmare with the chevron and the Catherine wheel no matter how hard I try I can't get them to turn out, oh and the Solomons knot. finally finished my boho cardi, it is hugh hehe I only did 39 rows I'm a little thicker than you so I figured a couple more rows would be a good idea.....I love it it'll keep me nice and warm in the winter, I guess I was afraid it was going to be to small. But I got it done and I'm finishing up my hexi cardis for my 2 grandaughters I'll post pics on the FB group when I'm all done love ya big big hugs until Friday xxx!
Thank you so much for sharing facts about Kenya, your life & taking us to the animal orphanage! You are so refreshing! Also the things you teach & share about crocheting! 🧡🦒🧡
Hi Christa... it’s Mary from New York again.lol...happy anniversary, love the colors of the shawl.I can’t wait for the May cal, I have never done a cal before and I’m not starting anything new so I can leave my time for the May cal.
Hi Christa, my name is Leila(Layla) and live in North Carolina, Love your videos and tutorials. What a nice treat of going to the animal orphanage with your family! Like your way of putting it nicely, "monkey gimnastics" . My fear in crochet it is cable stitches, I'm dying to make a sweater with them, I'm afraid to even start. Don't know knitting. I love crochet.
Hi Christa .. I have just discovered your channel and have spent the last few hours watching some of your very interesting podcasts. I live in Australia and have been crocheting for longer than I care to mention. I'm a bit of a yarn-a-holic and lots of my time is spent making things for charity. I have a blog called 'Hooks n Grannies' although I have been a bit slack lately with my posts - keep promising myself to post more often. I have subscribed to your channel and look forward to seeing more of your videos. Oh, by the way, I also enjoyed the trip to your animal park. xox
Hi Dorothy! Nice to see a fellow Aussie here! I just found this site about 10 days ago & binge watching! I'll check out your site next. Blessings from South Australia. Kerryn
Hi Donna! Thank you so much! :D My WIP Blankets... 2 for each color plus 2 black for each color... so... sixteen 100g balls? Ish. I think it's a bit more - some colors I needed to bust out a 3rd ball. ;) xx!!
The Secret Yarnery Thank you for your reply. I'm going to have to go yarn shopping for some black yarn then, as I don't have enough in my stash. I'm going to make one of your lovely blankets for my youngest daughter. Think I'll use pinks and purple tones on hers. 😊
lolol. Christa you'll laugh. My fiancé had my phone the other day and he saw a YT notification and said "wow, OF COURSE you get something from the Secret Yarnery!" In a tone that was slightly accusatory. But I said "that's my Kenya lady!" (Because I've talked about you before) and he was instantly cool with everything, hahaha.
Hi from Australia Happy Anniversary to you and your hubby. Love you and your podcasts. Cant wait for C2C Cal, its a stitch style im dying to learn . Keep up your awesome work.
Hi Christa, I would love to learn the popcorn stitch in the shawl you modeled on this podcast. My BFF was married later in life after age 40 and is celebrating her 15th Wed. Anniv. on May 3rd with a party on May 5th. What are you and hubby and family doing to mark your special day? See you on Friday!! :) Best Wishes to you & hubby from Wisconsin...Anna xoxo
I recovered enough to use my arm again enough to start doing things again yea! I know you're focusing on normal fun things to do in Kenya but i'd LOVE to get a glimpse at one of your fabric stores- I forgot where in Africa right now, but I saw some of the men are crazy good at weaving too. I sew more in warm weather because I can bend and move easier when its not bitterly cold outside lol. Happy Anniversary to you two! Love as always! Becky
Lisa in Lizella Georgia again, love the shawl you are wearing. The colours look great on you. Think I'll have to make one too. Look like I have no plans with my granddaughter for Friday and I'll get to join the live chat. Yeehaa... lol animal gymnastics...oops. let's go kids
I absolutely love your shawl!! The colors are fabulous!! Happy Anniversary early 💑 I also love the world-wide connection with your channel. Isn't it just amazing that you can reach so many people? Enjoyed seeing the animals with you and your family. Those monkeys were into the "monkey-business" weren't they? Lol. Two questions: How long before the bird eggs hatch? Is there anything that you miss from Canada that you can't get in Nairobi? Have a great day!
Yes I did, and I love it!! Although it still needs that border ....... and now the weather is colder I should really chap chap and add it. Miss you!!!!
RACHEL!!! You might have to do that... join us for UA-cam chats! How sad. But I'll take it!!! Let's have a LIVE class... I'll consult the schedule and revert. ANYTHING to hang with you, Rachel! Miss you LOADS! xx!!
Christa, I love your shawl, the colors are very pretty. It made me think, here in Miami, I have no use for it, but we go to Pennsylvania 3 times a year. Of course it always snows 3-4 times when we are there and I have nothing appropriate to keep me warm. A nice big shawl would be great to wrap up in. I enjoyed going along with you and your family on your zoo trip. Thank you. I was watching your first Vlog (I believe it was), you showed the cutest hippo made of granny squares, I would absolutely love to see a video of you making that. Or do you already have videos of it? I do so want to make it❣️ Thank you again for your tutorials, travels through Kenya, Vlogs and giveaways. Debby from Miami.
Loving the shawl as well as that waist coat. I didn't realise it was sooo long. I have never managed to do the Crab stitch (left handed). I'm total rubbish at it and I so want to crochet some baskets which tend to call for this stitch to finish them off. I really should introduce myself as I've been commenting for a little while now. I'm Julie, a farmer from West Cork, Southern Ireland. I've been knitting forever and had made many attempts to learn to crochet for around 50 year. 4 years ago with the help of the internet I finally taught myself aged 60! For 3 years all I did was granny square blankets and as happy as a pig in muck however I really branched now and learning loads.
Hi Juli! Thank you so much for Introducing yourself! Smurfmommy is also from Ireland (although I am not sure where). I tried that crab stitch once too... sucked! So for my baskets I just do a tight row of slip stitches. Cheating, but it works a treat! :) What do you farm? xx!!
The Secret Yarnery Hi Christa, thanks for the tip for using a slip stitch instead of the Crab stitch. The farm is a mix of agriculture and animals. I have dairy cows and goats with fairly large flocks ofhens and geese. Aside from grass which is grown for sileage ( it feeds the cows during the winter) I have polytunnels to grow a mass of fruits, salads and vegetables, there is so much we can't grow here without tunnels because our weather is lousy and so very wet.The fields are planted with various currant bushes, potatoes and root vegetable as well as a massive herb garden. Keeps me very busy from Spring through to Autumn : )
Hello Christa, love your shawl so pretty. And I would like to see C2C only because I haven't tried it yet ... Thank you for sharing as always love seeing Kenya...so pretty.
Hi Christa! (Laurie from Atlanta GA). Happy Anniversary! In response to your question, I am intimidated by the pineapple stitch. I was very interested in your Animal Orphanage trip. I thought the enclosures seemed small but when I read that it is a rehabilitation place for injured animals, it made more sense. I know it's hard to release big animals who have gotten used to people back into the wild, but in that park is there a more natural habitat that the animals are moved to when they have recovered? I rescue cats myself. I used to say that I was one cat short of crazy, but I've taken in a few more since then. So....you know....haha (Yarn keeps me somewhat sane.) Thanks for your vlogs. I really enjoy them!
I made Mijo Crochet's Lost in Time shawl for my sister. I loved making it and she loves wearing it. It is a great pattern. I plan on making the Secret Paths sometime this year.
Enjoyed watching your video as always! Thank you so much for the shout-out. Love the shawl, it's beautiful! I can't wait to see the blankets finished and progress on the lion head. I would like to learn the front and back post stitch. I can't seem to figure these stitches out. Thanks for taking us a long on your Kenya adventures. Love the armchair traveling! Looking forward to your next video!
Hi Christa the stitch I have the most trouble with is front post & back post - I’m alright on the front side but when I turn my work over I get very confused & make mistakes. Love all your videos. Thanks Marion 💕💕
Love the shawl colours, yarn & stitches. ... GORGEOUS! I've never tackled the crocodile stitch & keen to learn it.... though I guess it uses up a ton of yarn?!?
Happy Anniversary! Love the shawl you are wearing! Beautiful colors! Looks great on you! Great podcast, as always! :) I guess if I considered any stitch difficult it would be the Solomon's Knot. I have trouble pulling my thread up to the same height over and over. Ok, I have a question...How could anyone live on $130. per month?? It would cost them like a weeks salary to mail a package! Right? I just can't even imagine! Have a great day! See you on Friday! (for the live video)
Forgot to add this to my other comment. I have a question for you. Are you going to be doing another Amazon haul unboxing? I loved watching the unboxing and seeing all the amazing things you got for crocheting as well as your family.
you look great in that light aqua. the shawl is stunning! sea spray looks EXACTLY like the beach!!!! secret paths is on my wip list!! the stitch I have trouble with but don't really like anyway is broomstick. I'm too OCD about keeping the loops the same size... not a stitch for someone like me! I drool over all your multicolor crochet threads. wish I could afford them, but I'm obligated to pay for the roof we needed!! hugs!!!
Hiya Christa!!! Thanks for taking us out and about this week again!! I love seeing everything there!!! I think for me the crochet stitche(s) that are giving me problems are ... still the magic ring and not necessarily creating it and crocheting into it but the hanging on to everything .. and then when I am done the pulling closed ... I can never tell which one I should pull and when I am done I always have this mess .. I just wish it were easier to figure out .. I dont know why it eludes me! And then the other one is a standing crochet ... HUH??? I have watched so many videos and just cant get it LOL
Love spending time with you on your podcast. Beautiful projects & you look so stunning with that blur top & poncho. Great job. Boys blankets are coming along really nice. Enjoyed going to Animal orphanage with you & your family. But those Monkeys, that was hilarious 😂 Monkey Gymnastics🤔🤔🤔 😂😂😂 Happy Anniversary to you & your husband 🌹🌹🌹
Hello from Florida. Love your down to earth videos. I always look forward to your next one. I really enjoy you sharing information about where you live and the parts of your videos showing the beautiful place.
The taller stitches give me trouble tension wise. The tension issue with taller stitches make bullion stitches confusing and difficult. I have been crocheting for over ten years now, but I have only competently crocheted for about the last 4 to 5 years now. UA-cam has vastly improved my skill set. UA-cam and being able to buy better yarn and hooks.
And I’m Amanda from California! No beaches close to me sadly though lol. I just started my own knitting and crocheting podcast so yeah, no time for beaches anyways lol I totally get the time management. We need an extra day between Saturday and Sunday. Right!? Lol have a beautiful day and I’m looking forward to your next episode!
Do you know how many stitches wide you did your scraptastic blankets for your sons....the red, oranges and yellow blanket looks like wildlife looks really great. Oh I have a question does your kids or husband try and teach you the native or tribe languages.
Aww love it!!! Looks like a beautiful place. You sound like me when I'm out with my kids 'mind the water' 'pick up the pace' 😂😂 As regards stitches, I can never get my edges straight, I usually end up with extra stitches, eeekkkk!
The Reverse Single Crochet (aka Crab Stitch or Italian Stitch) - used primarily for borders - gives me the most trouble. For me it curls up and the stitches look uneven - I have to go slow on that one and watch my tension.
Aww thanks so much for the kind words. You are the best!!! 💕😊💕
Thank you for answering all those questions and for taking us along with your family to the safari. Have a blessed day.
Thank you Shelly! Glad you enjoyed it! xx!
Loved the animal orphanage, thanks again for sharing your family time with us! ☺🇦🇺❤❤
LOVE THE SHAWL AND THE VEST, YOU ALWAYS CHOOSE THE MOST BEAUTIFUL COLOURWAYS.
My favourite part of your podcast aside of your WIPs FOs is always when you brings us to visit Kenya❤️

What a Beautiful Shawl, love the Stitch, I really enjoy everything you make, enjoy your videos and Giveaways
Thank you so much, Ladonna!! xx!!
I love them. Beautiful crocheting
Thanks Linda! xx!
Wish I had one to watch all of your fast but i cant, maybe some time!! Live well and Love all !@
I'm new to your channel. Really enjoying your podcasts.
Oh thank you Kelly!! xx!!
Hi Debby! Thank you so much! That hippo is a paid pattern from Heidi Bears over on Ravelry. ...so I can't do a tuttorial. :( xx!!
Holy MOLY! You are AMAZING! Massive high fives to you! xx!!
Your Shaw is my favorite you have done. I will definitely have to give it a try. The color is perfect
So....you know....haha (Yarn keeps me somewhat sane.)
Thanks for your vlogs. I really enjoy them!
BEAUTIFUL SHAWL...
Happy Anniversary 🥂🍾.love 💖 your Poncho . Would love a tutorial on it. X
Hi Christa the stitch I have the most trouble with is front post & back post - I’m alright on the front side but when I turn my work over I get very confused & make mistakes. Love all your videos. Thanks Marion 💕💕
On it! After all this CAL business, we';re doing Front Post Back Post. :D xx!!
Love the shawl colours, yarn & stitches. ... GORGEOUS! I've never tackled the crocodile stitch & keen to learn it.... though I guess it uses up a ton of yarn?!?
Yes, it IS a yarn eater!!
hi christa, loved this podcast, see u on ur live , friday :)
Hey I'm Shurtorra from North Carolina. I have been watching you for a while just keep forgetting to say hello.
Thank you for the Kenyans information. I have been thinking about missions.
Forgot to add this to my other comment. I have a question for you. Are you going to be doing another Amazon haul unboxing? I loved watching the unboxing and seeing all the amazing things you got for crocheting as well as your family.
Half double crochet stitch
you look great in that light aqua. the shawl is stunning! sea spray looks EXACTLY like the beach!!!! secret paths is on my wip list!! the stitch I have trouble with but don't really like anyway is broomstick. I'm too OCD about keeping the loops the same size... not a stitch for someone like me! I drool over all your multicolor crochet threads. wish I could afford them, but I'm obligated to pay for the roof we needed!! hugs!!!
Thanks Maria!! Broomstick - haven't even TRIED it yet - I have the same fears! ha ha ha! A roof is important! Yarn can wait! Hugs! xx!!
But those Monkeys, that was hilarious 😂 Monkey Gymnastics🤔🤔🤔 😂😂😂
Happy Anniversary to you & your husband 🌹🌹🌹
90 chains. 89 stitches. Counted both like 4 times. 1 is 2" wider than the other. ha ha ha!!! ;)
The stitch that I have problems with is Solomon's Knot.....Thanks so much for sharing with us....
Hi, christa love your podcast you are an inspiration
Happy anniversary to you both
Please can you give pattern for long top
Hi Saminah!! Yes - I must dig up that pattern - or at least figure it out again and write it out! Thank you so much! xx!
Aww love it!!! Looks like a beautiful place. You sound like me when I'm out with my kids 'mind the water' 'pick up the pace' 😂😂 As regards stitches, I can never get my edges straight, I usually end up with extra stitches, eeekkkk!
Can you do a short tutorial on how to do the running stitch marker like on your lion head
The Reverse Single Crochet (aka Crab Stitch or Italian Stitch) - used primarily for borders - gives me the most trouble. For me it curls up and the stitches look uneven - I have to go slow on that one and watch my tension.
Good ones, Marie! Thank you!! xx!!
Thanks Hun Just Love this Thanks afian , Aleta sneed
Thank you! xx
I am from Colorado.
I believe the stitch that gives me trouble or maybe I just don't like for some reason is the crab stitch.
Me too.
Finished the boho cardi two days ago and I love it.
