Wheels Up with a Surprise Visitor

High winds, low ceilings, and other weather in the area didn't make for much VFR traffic including keeping myself on the ground for most of the day, but that didn't keep the fighters away. There was first an unexpected visit from the VFA 204 "RIVER Rattlers" F/A-18 Legacy Hornets followed by an even bigger, faster surprise a few hours later when a US Navy Flight Demonstration Squadron "Blue Angels" number 4 Super Hornet arrived for a little fuel, good food, and to dodge some weather. The naval aviator flying the Super Bug was not the actual show pilot from the squadron, but a support pilot who transfers or repositions the aircraft back and forth from Pensacola to swap-out with backup aircraft for maintenance, technical issues, etc. Seems like a pretty sweet gig if you ask me.
The FedEx McDonnell Douglas-Boeing MD-11 sure makes for a nice backdrop with its fresh paint job.
