Me: That explains why the king of the walls did not stop inheriting the founding titan to his descendants, and also why he had to put a puppet king, because if he died, the power of the founder could reincarnate in the enemy side. And because the curse of the titans cannot be broken.
Only if they are royal blood, that's the big part. Those with royal blood will be locked into the king's will

S4 SPOILER- Eren: “Mikasa, i’ve always hated you.”
@@santaclaus7595 you know that was CAP
@@santaclaus7595 spoiler
can't beleive ppl unironically beleive that he meant it lol
Can't explain everything because spoilers but here's what you should know at this point:
-Reiss is just name change to hide the royal family, technically they're Fritzs
-the mind wiping and controlling titans are both the founding titan powers, only royal bloods can use the power however
-the Historia letter scene has nothing to do with powers, Ymir's backstory is explained at this point in the manga but the anime puts it into season 2 and the flashing memories is just a way to convey that historia learned Ymir's story
-also if you didnt catch it, the attack titan pronounced "Shingeki no Kyojin" in japanese is the japanese name of the show. "Attack ON titan" is a somewhat mistranslation
It’s more of a different interpretation rather than a mistranslation. And that’s why the author signed off on it I think because it’s not like it was an error that went unnoticed. “Attack On Titan” can be interpreted 2 different ways. At first we interpret it as “Attack, ON Titan” meaning attacking the Titans, our only enemy in the beginning. And as the story progresses we can interpret it as “Attack On, Titan encouraging our Titan(Eren) to attack! A more direct translation to “The Attack Titan” would be too on the nose for English speakers and would spoil the big reveal of Eren’s Titan name in the episode.
Also, that letter scene with Historia has everything to do with powers because that IS her bloodline’s power. She can seemingly connect with Titan shifters to tap into their memories. We’ve seen it before when she touched Eren’s back.
@@Rp3rn011 I disagree completely with the second comment, can't really say wy without spoilers but the only shifter shes done that with is the founder and also touching pieces of paper shifters have touched is a massive stretch to say its the same thing. More than anything im letting them know that the scene itself was an adaptation thing more than anything and likely wont be relevant because of it. for example annie and eren's titan fusing together at the end of S1 was also all anime only which is why its never brought up again
@@palmeraj826 So you’re saying there’s no correlation or similarities from when 1) Historia touched Eren’s back, sparks flew, and she saw memories followed by visible confusion. & 2) Historia touched Ymir’s letter, sparks flew, she saw memories followed by visible confusion? Like those are two similar occurrences. Maybe it’s different in the manga, but here in the anime, it looks exactly the same as the instance with Eren.
@@palmeraj826 The Annie “fusing” situation is explainable through context. They initially thought they were fusing but in reality Annie’s hardening was like melting Eren’s skin because he was on top of her while she was making her cocoon. They said fusing because that’s what it looked like at first but it wasn’t actually fusing, they just didn’t know what was happening with Annie. There was no reason to bring it up again because it was a guess in the moment and it was wrong.

"To save Mikasa, Armin and everyone else."
This seems to be eren's wish
“Mikasa I’ve always hated you.” - Eren
Spoilers, can't you guys keep and shut your damn mouth?
I think the source is actually from Grisha right before he transformed Eren into a pure titan. It was either in 1x2 or 1x9(or 10) when Eren gets a sudden, brief flashback of Grisha saying this to him, that Eren must learn to control this power.
Still is possible though that this is some daisy chain of memories where Grisha got some future memory of Eren saying this, then Kruger got that same future memory from either of them... it feels so convoluted, but like, it still makes enough sense to not call BS on this whole memory shenanigans
@Lilithan Chrispiford the 4th Also makes no sense given the character we had been shown the entire series. Man was fucking annoyed and pissed off by her constantly. So fucking dumb.

I'm just happy we got to see Ymir again. Her whole life has been about sacrificing for others. So seeing her declare her one true desire to be married to Historia is really sweet. And sad. I think Historia did love her back. In the manga(this was cut from the anime), after Ymir leaves she has a mental breakdown and starts crying. And she feels hollow without her. Maybe it's wishful thinking but their relationship was definitely special.

The manga's title can be translated multiple ways, it's most directly translated as "The Advance(ing) Giant(s)". The marketing team thought "Attack On Titan" sounded better in English.
According to what I've read the closest thing to a correct translation in terms of keeping the original meaning would be "the Vanguard Titan", which could be also read as a play on words on several alternate interpretations, i.e. "advancing titan", "the titan moving forward", "the titan ahead [of the rest]" etc.
@@TucoBenedicto "The titan moving forward" sounds the most appropriate as season 4 shows/will show. ;)

Vanguard Titan = a character (eren), who started everything in the show
The Riess family is a name change of the Fritz family. The mind wipe thing is a power of the Founding Titan. But these powers can only be used with someone with Royal blood. Also the warrior freckles Ymir ate was named Marcel, not Marley.

the explanation of the blood and bones of the titans flowing through the same “paths” that connect subjects of ymir through the found titan-i.e., the same connections between eldians that allow memories to sometimes be sent and received is what explains titan regeneration and changing eldian memories-is such an underrated reveal in this episode.
Even less than Reiner and Berholdt's reveal in S2... Wait a sec...
The pattern for titan powers and looks is actually there. Keep watching guys.
The names of the 9 Titans are as follows.
1. The Attack titan
2. The Armored titan
3. The Beast titan
4. The Female titan
5. The Colossal titan
6. The founding titan
7. The Cart titan (the duck faced one)
8. The Jaw titan (Yimr's titan)
9. ?????? (Unknown to you at the moment)
but don’t we find out the name of the Jaw Titan until season 4? isn’t that a bit of a spoiler …
@@sydneygreene9770 no its not a spoiler
They already said “the paths transcend space and time” so yup the entirety of 2000 years happened in an instance in the paths realm, or the opposite whichever
Not a spoiler, just information. When the first king came here with all of his follower on Paradise, He changed the family's surname from "Frietz" to 'Reiss. Hence, the name changed.
Erwin in an episode said that the carrier titan was a titan shifter
The cart titan got that wagon ;)
But that was also him assuming but I get you ;)
@@I_am_Felii Yeah, but we also saw the cart titan speaking to the warriors with perfect diction; and saving Zeke and Reiner. With that info, the viewer should asume is a shifter.
And Armin says something like "it's probably an intelligent Titan"
My favorite post-basement re-interpretation is of that scene in the trees with Reiner, Bluetooth, Eren and Ymir. Ymir asks about "that monkey" to those 2, but Eren is like "A monkey? what do you mean?". On the first manga read, I was like "sure, he wasn't there". BUT HE DOESN'T KNOW WHAT A MONKEY IS BECAUSE THERE ARE NO MONKEYS ON THE ISLAND. That's why Miche also says "what is that? It's covered in fur and looks like some kind of beast". They know mammals, but not monkeys!
Bluetooth 😂
17:06 I love how even Adam that catch up with season 3 was surprise by this
His memory of this was wiped by the Founder's power.
12:50 what's not to get? The show has explaining it several times and in an info card, it's pretty simple: Pure Titan eats human with Titan powers, Pure Titan turns human and gains those powers.
That's the only way to pass the power down. WHICH MEANS all Intelligent titans HAVE to be one of the 9. It wouldn't make sense any other way.
I remember when my siblings and I read that chapter, we flippedddd!! And talked for hours and hours... Man this anime/Manga brought people together in so many ways
Some things that I would like say before you start season 4 (Without spoilers and probably lots of grammar mistakes because english is my second language)
The royal blood:
*They are the only ones that can use the founding titan in all its power but King Fritz Nª 145 renounced war moved to the island and created a vow that doesn't allow his future descents to act on their free will.
*Fritz changed their name to Reiss and put a fake king on the power while they ruled anonymously, they did this in case anyone from outside the walls wanted to steal the founding titan’s powers.
*The founding titan (In hands of a Fritz/Reiss) can erase the memory of ymir’s subjects, turn them into titans, obviously control titans and other things that I can’t say because it is a spoiler.
What is the coordinate?
The coordinate seems to be a path that connects all eldians and apparently the founding titan is the only one who can control it, I mean, through the coordinate the founding titan was able to erase the memories of the eldians in the past, It seems to be a divine place where even the powers of the shifters are passed to random babies once they die without passing their powers.
Eren and the founding’s powers:
Why didn’t Eren say anything about what he saw in his memories to the scouts? I think the reason is that Eren doesn’t have enough information about what was the reason that the coordinate activated that time, the only thing he knows is that he touched a royal blood titan and he now is afraid for where Historia would end up if someone like Zackly finds out this theory (taking in account that now they know that all the world are their enemies they need to control the founding titan more than ever)
Timeline of these episodes:
Since Grisha got the Attack titan’s power 13 years passed until the first episode of the show so at that point Zeke was at least 20 years old so by this point he has to be around 25.
Why do the titans look different? I think that is one of the weaks points of the show, there is no consistency in how or why the titans look the way they look and why some change and others don’t.
The titans that we know that are shifters:
Eren (Attack titan and founding)
Reiner (Armored titan)
Berthold / Armin (Colossal titan)
Annie (Female titan)
Zeke (Beast titan)
Ymir (Jaw titan)
Unknown character (Cart) He/She has to be a shifter since we never saw another titan that could talk besides the beast.
and there is another one we haven’t seen yet
Sorry for this long comment, you are the best and can’t wait to watch your next reactions. Send you love from Argentina

The Attack Titan, truly marvelous, as are the other Eight. I would've liked to see the others speak to or have memories of past titans like how Eren saw Kruger and his dad speak about the Attack.
I mean, it's always only the Founding or Attack Titan, others are barely given any good spotlight in terms of their purpose or importance/role.
Well, the actual name of the guy that gets eaten by ymir before breaking the walls is "Marcel" not "Marley". *flies away.
16:25 yes, this is called "chuunibyou" in Japan. The literal translation would be "8th grader (chuu ni = middle school, 2nd grade) sickness", which is basically the term for that phase when kids go through life thinking they're the protagonist of some epic story. It's a pretty common trope/joke in some animes. A very over-the-top example would be Kaido Shun from Saiki Kusuo.
To save Mikasa, Armin...
I can watch it endlessly
Grisha wasnt monkey, he was just a titan with hairy chest, humans do have those...
*DON'T WATCH THE TRAILER FOR S4*
You've gotta go FULL blind to really feel the full experience.
Also, wait for 1 or 2 weeks, you need time to process all that's happenned so far. That's all I'm allowed to say.
Well they did explain it. All Eldians are connected by paths that transcend SPACE AND TIME. The paths converge at a single coordinate. The founding titan.
the thing on this anime is: always remember the first episode. just that, i cant put in a better way. just never forget the first ep.
Grisha's titan had a lot of chest hair, but wasn't covered in fur like the Best titan.
I think his overall design was to be in between Zeke and Eren's titans to foreshadow a family resemblance.
36:07 Historia cannot delete memories just received
Next episode will be so good cant wait for all these questions!
The last part where Kruger mentioned about Mikasa and Armin, because the Attack Titan has the foresight ability to see future inheritors' memory
Fritz and Reiss are the same they just change the name to hide from the ones who wanted the founding titan's power.
It's worth noting that the royal family on Paradis did indeed change their name from Fritz to Reiss. For some reason this detail was only directly explained in the manga, but cut from the anime.

Kruger asked "You can't fight, can't look. Have you no balls". Funny thing in the Manga you can tell that yes Grisha's balls were cut off during the torture. Luckily he got the titan to grow back to have Eren lol
lol their reactions at the end, so funny bro
in season one Grisha told Eren "if you want to save Mikasa and Armin you must learn to control this power" so Grisha ended up saying what the other Eren said to him.

It doesn’t matter how many things you can predict right, this show will always throw you another curveball after you’ve figured something out. ITS SO GOOD
“ All that I have left are my sins. That’s more than enough.”
Will always be my favorite line in anything.
It's not just "eating" the current holder but to ingest his/her "spinal fluid". Like what Rod Reiss said in S3 Part 1.
I'm not sure which is true, but these theories might explain why the FT is special:
1) If the Mind Altering is a purely Reiss ability- because the FT is connected by the "paths" to every Eldian, if used in conjunction with the Mind Altering ability, can be used to change the memories of all eldians at once, including the ability to control titans (as all titans are of Eldian blood) a power that could be, and was used to rule an empire and conquer a continent. The FT and the Reiss family were always together because the FT has always been passed down within the family from the first wielder of the FT, and so it's "true power" that can only be used by those of royal blood is actually a combination of the Reiss ability and the FT's connection to the paths. (so, in this theory, if Mikasa or Levi got the FT, they could theoretically give their "Ackerman" power to all Eldians)
2) if The mind altering ability is the Founding titans alone- the Reiss bloodline have a special connection with the "spirit" of the FT itself, and can thus use a lesser form of the mind altering ability on a much smaller scale, even if they aren't the wielder of the FT, and the actual wielder however, can only use the All-Eldian mind alter if they have that special reiss connection.
My theory of why Zeke can control titans: Because of the Reiss power that all royal bloods have, even if a royal blood has a titan shifting ability that isn't the FT, they can still have some presence over titans. When Eren uses The full FT ability at the end of S2, he seems to control them subconsciously, they automatically follow his thoughts, no need to actually communicate, and they seem completely incapable of disobeying. While when Zeke controls titans, he has to give them orders, which they seem to consciously follow, but have the ability to disobey, as is seen in the first episode of S2. Zeke can't "control" titans like the Ft, he just holds a presence over them, and they follow him like a king, because he is in a sense. They obey like loyal subjects, but are fully capable of disobeying his will, for one reason or another. (so in this theory, if Historia, for example, ate Annie and got the female titans power, she would be able to "order" titan like zeke can, but not actually "control" them like if she had the Founding Titan)
My Theory of how titan shifter forms work- there is a variability to how it affects each person based on their blood. The colossal titan doesn't have much variability on how it's form changes, but the attack titan, for example, can vary greatly, like Grisha's hairy chest, or interestingly, how each Yeager that titan shifts has pointed ears, Grisha, Eren, and Zeke. The attack titan doesn't inherently have pointed ears, as we see from the Owls Attack Titan, but Grisha's and Eren's do, and I can't prove it, but I think this applies to Zeke too, and the beast titan doesn't have inherently pointed ears. (For example, Ymirs titan could completely change someones elses titan form, but also only gives Ymir sharp teeth and not much else. I think it completely depend on which titan ability the person has and how it reacts to their genetics)
My Theory as to why Grisha's eyes changed blue after he ate Frieda, but then changed back- the blue glowing eyes only permanently applies to the Reiss family, and is a sign of them wielding the FT. Just like how Eren could only active the FT when he touched Dinas royal blooded titan, in the moment he got the blue eyes, he could have technically used the full power of the FT because he had a titan mouth full of royal blooded Frieda guts, but didn't because he didn't know that that's how the FT worked, Eren only figured out that he could use the FT's power like that in this episode, in the court room.
(keep in mind, I haven't watched S4 and haven't been majorly spoiled on it)
Reiss was just a fake last name, Fritzs is their real last name
ending song's lyrics are PERFECT for this episode
The Reiss family are actually The Fritz, they just changed their name to protect their royal blood and the founding titan. The one who can change people memories isn't The Reiss but only the founding titan. Basically only the founding titan can control all the titan, but zeke is special because he has royal blood so he can control only the titan he made with his spinal fluid. Not every beast titan can do that.
Talking about how old uri looks. I see alot of people mention it and I've always assumed rod and uri were around the same age so the curse of ymir made him undergo aging faster what with how much of an age difference appears to be between them.
I think this to simplify: every titan shifter can see past memories (see more if they try) royals can use voice too command (zeke and royal foundlings), then adjusting memories is foundling royal
No, there was not a single royal who could command anyone without being a titan shifter.

I always understood the memory wipe as
Reiss as family have "ability" to access memories through touch.
Founding titan has ability to command titans (Eldians?) and as explained in the episode all Eldians are connected through Founding titan.
So when Reiss gets Founding titan he basically gets direct connection with every Eldian (something like 'can touch their soul'), this combined with Reiss ability to access memories allows them to use Founding titan to 'command Eldians to forget/create some memory'
The memory Kruger was seeing was Grisha telling Eren when he was about to inject him “To save Mikasa, Armin and everyone else you must master this power” or something along those lines, but Grisha only said that because Kruger told him about it in the first place.. so like what??

So far you have a pretty clear idea of what's happening and what happened.
Im rewatching this cause it was on my recommendations lol. I read the manga and "if you want to save Mikasa and Armin, and everyone else... You must see it through." hits so different

2. The Reiss family and the Fritz family are the exact same. The First King of the walls changed their surname to Reiss and instilled a puppet royal family with the name Fritz so they would not be targeted. The Reiss family has basically been ruling the world within the walls from the shadows for the past 100 years, passing on the Founding Titan every 13 years.
3. Since Zeke is the son of Dina Fritz, he does have Royal Blood. That means if he were to inherit the Founder, he would succumb to the Vow Renouncing War. Although royal blood essentially grants you full usage of the titan powers, the First King's vow prevents any royal blooded inheritors of the Founding Titan from using its full potential, and shackles their free will.
4. Zeke was 7 years old when he turned in his parents. 13 years later, Wall Maria fell and Eren inherited the Attack Titan. The rest of the events of Seasons 1-3 take place 5 years after that. So in this season, Zeke is 25 years old. (Sorry if that's confusing :D)
Hope that clears up some things. Looking forward to more reactions!
Hahahah sams face after the owl said mikasa and Armin has me dying 😂😂
Will absolutely smashing it on time not being linear with the coordinate. Great reaction, cannot wait for you guys to get into s4.
NOT A SPOLER: On episode 15 Reiner said Levi almost killed him if he hadn’t transfered his consciousness to his body (weird explanation, really a cheat code). He does it again when they blow up the thunder spears but this time he transfered it to his titan’s body(even bigger cheat code). So it’s safe to assume they can indeed die. Also not to forget that reiner is probably the most resistent out of the ones we know.
Great reaction and discussion guys. Here's some points I'd like to clarify 😃
Where's the special factor about Zeke controlling Titans? I would guess it's because of his royal blood XD
And about Grisha's titan, he does not transform into the Beast Titan. Grisha's is like a buff chest haired Attack Titan with a beard, while the Beast is covered in brown fur.
I think they designed Grisha's titan like that to resemble Zeke's titan, as to imply some kind of connection between the two.
You guys should do FULL reactions on Patreon! Please I want to be able to rewatch Season 4 with you guys
There are just too many twists, my brain cant handle it!
This is the episode that I wait since you guys started SNK
Season 4 is sooooooo close. As a manga reader I will be following this channel til the end of the second part of the final season. IM SO DAMN excited to see their minds get fcked.
Welcome to attack on titan. When you think you finally understand it all, you are proven wrong.
"What the hell did you come for?!"(3x21)
"What did you come for?!"(4x10)
Adam at the end of the ep looked more confused than Sam & will even tho he watched it before 🤣🤣🤣
9:27 ultimate hair reveal
Guys GRISHA'S TITAN IS NOT A MONKEY! He just hairy bc the titan form gets some features from its carrier.
The Reiss and the Fritz are the same. They changed names after the coulp with the false king. And the erase power is only possible by the Founder with the royal blood. Historia doest have this power
The best moment of the show for me
"Shingeki no kyojin"
Fuckin. Chills.
Changed the whole perspective of the show for me
Marcel is the name of the guy that Ymir ate to return to human form
Historia getting sparked touching Ymir’s signature probably cuz she touched some DNA,, like tears or skin particles from her hand
remember zeke would be limited by the bloodline vow of aggression so he wouldn't be able to just do what he wants. from what we know eren since hes not blood by birth somehow managed to at least partially bypass the vow since hes not a fritz when he touched dinas titan and controlled the titans in that episode
I always thought that Eren escaped the domination of the founding titan's pacifism because he already had the Attack titan. :0
