Just did my ACFT with my unit, got 570 points and this event is the one that I always get the farthest from max out.... I can't get past 10m for some reason... I will try your advice for the next time. I bought your program 13 WEEK for Ranger School and my running and overall strength improved a lot ! Thanks and keep it
Definitely do these things and you’ll see a huge difference! 👍 And I’m glad you’re following that program! (Leave a review if you could, those help a lot 😉). KEEP working hard! 💪
Going into ROTC this August and not commissioning for another 4 years figured it be smart to go ahead and start learning all I can about some of the fitness test. These videos have been a massive help!
Best video I've found on UA-cam on the SPT. I followed your instructions and was able to throw the ball much further than before. It is key to have the hands as close to the bottom as possible.
Thanks for this brother. We conducted our first record ACFT today n I scored over 90 points on all events Except for this one!!! I cannot throw the ball more than 8 meters to save my life (64 measly points)!!! I do use the kettle bells to practice already. I will focus on my core strenght and the other two additional exercises you explained. Thanks again for this video.
Did well on all the other events on the ACFT, maxed a few, but came 0.1 M short on the SPT and failed. I always ended up throwing the ball straight up into the air, this helped man, appreciate it!
NIce. I forwarded the video to my son. My only remark is at the 3:15 mark in the video when point straight out horizontally and call that 45 degrees, horizontal is actually zero degrees. So I do agree that an angle halfway between horizontal and vertical is what to shoot for, but that is 45 degrees not 70 degrees.
I get 100 in three events, mid-90 in two, and barely pass the power through. Looking forward to applying some of this and at least not be an inch or two away from failing.
About 2 weeks ago I was approached by my new CO and asked if I wanted to go to ranger school in January... like 2 weeks from now. I of course said yes and have been scrounging to get everything off my packing list together. I was just about to get a rangerpack and I saw that you had uploaded this video, I watched it when it was newly posted "1 hour ago" and thought to myself. Nah I shouldn't comment, probably won't win. But my wife is pushing me to, thankfully I have her. Hoping to knock out ranger school then middle of next year go to SFRE then on to SFAS. Best wishes, thanks for all the tips.
Thanks for the training tips brother! As of today; I have graduated from SWAT School through Gwinnett County Georgia! We ended up not taking a class grad photo. I just wanted to shoot you an update since I said I would send you that for the new garage gym wall.
I'm going to have to try this, sir! I honestly feel this event is impossible for my stature (5' 4", 114lbs) to throw 6.5 meters, but this might be the technique I need! **UPDATE** I tried these techniques and lost over a meter. Not to say it doesn't work, but it didn't work for me 😢
I always struggle with this event, and I don't think the fact I am very tiny (5'1 and 110 pounds) helps either! I am hoping these tips help. Thank you for this video!
@@stevenmckinney9924 I have. At first it felt a bit funny (probably because i got small hands) but I was consistent, and my throw has increased by an extra 2.5 meters. I also started including plyometrics and going heavier on weights at the gym as well 💪which I believe is what has helped my throw increase that much.
I got 95-100 on every event but this one. I got 67 points on this bs lol but my hand placement was on the sides like you explained what. Ot to do in the intro
Do you think a soldier’s height comes into play regarding how far they can throw? My NCOIC is 6’7” and launches it without event trying (16m first try)
It goes without saying. As he says in the video, it's based on swinging as a lever, not explosive energy. Not only is their standing height as advantage, longer arms result in a longer lever.
Hey gritty I have been Watching your videos for how to be physically fit before Ranger School and I just want to say thank you it means a lot but I have a question I’m 16 and my dream is to get into Ranger School and become a Ranger but I’m not physically fit I’m 180 and I don’t know what to do I’m a good team player but have a hard time with endurance I was previously watching your “Ways that you’ll fail Ranger school video” and I was trying to learn everything I can but I don’t know how to prepare my body and mind for the 13-week Ranger practice program on your page that you were talking about in the video or do I just continuesly keep doing the week 1 practice and just setting myself prepared I know I haven’t got to basic yet and haven’t talked to a recruiter since I’m still in high school I’m just asking from someone with experience
Don’t worry so much about what you think you can’t do, just do what you need to. You know the standards for the school/program, so now you just need to do what needs to be done to meet those standards. Our 13-Week Ranger School fitness program is a facilitated process to get you to be able to reach those a goals, for example. To get physically fit, you have to start somewhere, and it may seems really difficult at first, but it will become easier (more enjoyable) with time and as you smash PRs.
Guess I always thought the rules stated you have to grab it from the sides. Otherwise it would be obvious to grab it from underneath. Maybe that’s just a misunderstanding or miscommunication somewhere. I went and looked it up and it states that the hands have to be as far around the sides as possible. Suppose there’s a little room for interpretation but still seems like all the way touching underneath is still a fault.
@@GrittySoldier Thank you Sir! I’m asking for myself but also want to give my trainees some advice. They did their first ACFT today here at Fort Sill Basic Training and some of them were throwing short as 4.5m to 5m. Love your videos btw.
Hey I’m trying to go to ranger school soon and was wondering if u got any tips on how to do more pushups? I can do about 60 in 2 mins but am trying to get up to 80, if u got any tips would be greatly appreciated. Thanks
The world has know that a 45° is the best for distance since Galileo proved it in 1570. You just held your arm out flat (°0) and called it 45°…. muscles and no brains bro.
Whenever I grab the ball with the palms of my fingers on the sides of the ball and just do a hip drive, I throw it the farthest. My record to day is 14m on the dot. Now idk if I pass or not, but I think it's pretty impressive.
They just added 2 meters to the STP for my age bracket, time to start doing kettle bell swings again Sir!💪🏻🇺🇸
I know I can’t believe how far we gotta throw this ball! 😂 time to get it done! 💪

Great work. I received 553 points last month and will aim for 570. You are fantastic. Share you knowledge 😊please.

This is the one event that keeps me from getting above a 550. Thank you sir
This is exactly what I needed! Maxed everything but the throw 😢 keep getting 588… can’t wait to mix these exercises into my workout! Thank you 🙏
👍 Keep working at it! 💪

any updates?
I could imagine kettle bell swings and Romanian Deadlifts would be two OP exercises to train up for the SPT.
Keep the vids coming, I’m a SPC in reserves. Your videos are used as examples in my unit. Thankyou
Whoa for real! That’s awesome, and humbling 🙏 Glad to be useful!
just got a 523 on my acft, lowest ive ever scored, thank you for the videos boss its a great motivation
I always struggle with this event… I can never get past 9m for some reason… I’m going to try this though. 👍
Did get me to 12.5m but added 2m. Can't thank you enough, boss.
Thanks for the content Sir. I look forward to seeing my throw improve.

Thanks for the tips! This is the hardest event for me.
Great! I appreciate it!
going to try this workout sir! thx!
The ball throw got me again during my ACFT but I passed everything else it's just this ball throw but this should help me for my next ACFT
Holy fuck that first throw was insane
Excellent video!
I appreciate the advice, time to get those promotion points!
🤘
great tutorials sir, God bless
This one kicks my ass too. Scored a 76. Got 100, 100, 99, 97, and 95 on the other events. I was pissed. I need to practice.
Im can get a 1:15 SDC and max out the deadlift and push-ups but suck at the throw. Thanks for the video I hope it helps.
Love it !
Hey! I was wondering if you could please make a video on army JTACs or SOTACs? Thanks!
Yeah, I’ll have to see if I can find one that would want to do an interview.

THE DOG!!! 😂😂
My hands small so it’s a struggle to grab the ball on the bottom. Any advice for that?
I score in the high 80s and 90s in everything. But with the ball throw i struggle to get past 9.6-9.8m. me being 5'7" isn't too helpful either
Do you do personalized training plans
Sir how many reps per set of the kettle bell swing would you recommend?
15-20 👍

. I can't swing the 40lb kettle bell up to my head, should I stat with a lower weight?
Yes. Use a weight where you could knock out around 10x reps before failure, then work up from there. 👍
Has anyone here actually improved their SPT? Someone that went from a couple meters to coming close to max?
How much weight should I add to the barbell?
Let’s go
This is the one thing that I do worst on
I want a pack sir! I hope I win!!!

Add a small amount of weight, vest etc.
I would be at 600 if it we didn't have the STP
Gonna incorporate this. Threw 10.8M (88 pts) which was a bit disappointing being that I maxed nearly all other events, scoring 97+ on every event.
Need to comment on every video?
First!

Yeah I feel bad for you short people 😆

I love your tips, but I don't think you know what a 70 degree angle is. Per physics, calculus and trigonometry, you absolutely want a 45 degree angle.
