This docuseries was fantastic. I'm a political junkie, and I've been following all this q stuff surrounding some of the Trump base; like, I was very aware of what the QAnon theory espoused, generally speaking, but this documentary was eye opening in the sense of the whole scope of this thing and it's origins. More people need to see this series.
I'm way old enough to have seen plenty of cults and conspiracists come and go... so I'm beyond watching this or the series. Was anyone really "REVEALLED" - or was this click bait.
i enjoyed this docuseries, but ron and his dad are fucking weirdos. this series left me with so many questions because they are such a bizarre pair.
So it's not much different than Catholicism.

Watched the whole series as I wanted to know more before watching this.... And I had always thought 'Q' was a troll of sorts and obviously not some DC insider. But I feel like the reality of what it really was blows my mind even more. It definitely shows the power of the internet and that you really can't just brush someone aside because you see them as a non threat. This blew up so much and wasn't really helped by the fact we had equally incompetent people in power today were just as susceptible to conspiracy theories and especially popularity. The series.... Scared me because it's very easy to make a dangerous cult that can riot the Capitol building

For us, it ought not be about what we believe or what we don't believe, for us it's "what extremes are you willing to go based on that belief".
One of those extremes is to call atheists bad, to link it to Marxism and thus bad, to link it to communism and socialism thus very bad, and to link all those things with all the world's ills. When they call you a atheist they want to equate you to some sort of evil as espoused in their good Books. To dehumanise you and thus deny you.

This was great !!... in a way the persona of "Q" which becomes a projection of the people who follow "Q" ... in a way it makes "Q" a kind of physical manifestation of the algorithms .... The whole narrative about empathy is key too ... we aren't born human beings ... we are born with the ability to become human beings ... to become human is a decision we make and empathy is a key indicator of whether or not a person has become a human being or not, this is clearly seen, when not having empathy is viewed at the extreme end of that spectrum ... people without empathy are sociopaths and psychopaths ... they are in truth intelligent animals.. intelligent predators ... and at the end of the day .. that is all they aspire to be "animals with a brain" why would anyone glorify this.
Politically it makes sense in a way ... many politicians especially on the right, but some on the left too, fall on that extreme end of the spectrum too .. they just don't physically kill people, this is entirely due to the restraints society's laws and norms impose on them .. they want to be seen as normal ... they kill people in other ways as a way to elevate themselves ... you see this in for instance state politicians who choose not to give their constituents access to free healthcare offered by the federal government with the expansion of medicaid and medicare... even though this cost them nothing, they deny the poor people of their state ... Like the one reporter wrote "One can only conclude that these republicans hate poor people" and this is the truth ... but a more complete truth would be to say "they love themself above everyone else ... it is a lack of empathy entirely"
But too the good people who feel into the "Q" trap ... what is clearly seen in them, is this is overwhelming desire to be "in a community" where they are loved and accepted ... those are the ones who will eventually come to see the truth ... those are the ones we bring over to our side Cenk :)
I've recently been reading the Gnostic Gospels, and they're kind of like a 2nd Century QAnon. Guess wanting to believe in secret knowledge is an old human habit.

The gnostic gospels were the throw away books or gospels of the other disciples or people using the disciple's name for credibility. These are the ones that didn't tell the story the church wanted or needed to tell.
The Gnostic gospels weren't in most cases much different than the gospels that were chosin as Cannan. The gospel of Mary Magdalene for example, . No women in any positions of power in the church. So it became Propaganda. What I find the most interesting is that the Christians stake their belief of Divinity on the words of 3 women, whom it is said witnessed Jesus' accention into heaven shortly after resurrection.
