- Learning about where my food came from inspired me to start gardening and raising chickens. It's been such a wonderful, beautiful journey ever since!
If you're thinking about homesteading, don't wait!
You can follow our journey by subscribing to our UA-cam channel, Mason Dixon Acres!
I am so glad I'm not the only one thinking this way. . . Chickens is my next project 😍😍
Yes, during the summer we give our chickens are left over watermelon. they love it
Yes!!! This is exactly how I got started! I have been homesteading for about a year
Love it!! Homesteading is seriously so amazing. There is so much to learn!
Great video! We just started learning about homesteading about 1 year ago. Love how your projects have been coming. You guys are really growing and building something special
Awesome, Thanks so much!!
Stick with your garden. It will get better and better as time goes by. It took my family a good 10+ years for the garden to fully come around and my parents would still think it needed more work into it. Beautiful watermelon!
This is exactly why i want to homestead. I would love to be able to have fresh chicken that i know lived an ethical and humane life.
My family and I are moving to do this in a few years once we save up a bit more, and I physically can't wait ❤️
Best of luck!! It’s quite a journey!
Check out Jess from Roots and refuge farm, she had been such an encouragement to me!! I'm in the same place ❤
Keep at it amen
Oh my gosh I love this! 😍♥️
Great job girl!! That melon looks delish!
It warms my heart to see the chicken eating them watermelon😊
We love our hens!
You can also use them to make pickled watermelon rims. They are so good!! :)
Great idea!
That watermelon looks so good!
Love your guys channel and content! Inspired us to do a self-build addition to our log cabin. ❤
Ahh awesome!! Best of luck on the project, you got this!
Love this❤❤
Beautiful
My family and I are planning to do this at the end of the summer. Never homestead before but want to maintain a different lifestyle in the country.
Our chickens love those also!
Yummmmy looking 🍉!! Great job! You're inspiring! Keep up the great work! I can't wait to start gardening again.
Yesss! It was so delicious. Nothing better than fresh watermelon on a hot summer day. I can't wait to get back outside and play in the dirt!
Wait till the stem starts to turn brown and wither. Your watermelon will hit levels of sweet you wouldn't believe
The chicken's: attack!!!! Get the Mellons! 😂
I have chickens, big mistake, not them, just the amount. Really, don’t get chickens unless your prepared to loose a few, and get at least a dozen. We have 6 and it just doesn’t work. If you let them out a few are bound to die, having 6 means that the pecking order is very established vs if you had a dozen where they would have more of a group mentality. Get the same breed of chickens aswell, or many of one breed. We thought it’d be nice to have 6 different chickens, we’ve lost about 5 I think and now we have 4 different breeds and 6 chickens. The breeds all lay different eggs which is ok, but two of them lay almost never, because they are “designer” chickens be careful what type you get and do LOTS of research on their breeds and laying. You can tell the difference between home eggs from free range chickens and the store eggs, seriously i HATE store eggs now. I litterly almost throw up when I eat them!
Watermelon 🍉 I like 👍🏻 ❤
So Awesome 🤍🖤
looks like a professional set up
You psyched the chickens out. They bolted to that watermelon😂😂
Dig in chucks
Do you sell chickens because I see they eat pretty clean and not just anything?
We do not unfortunately! But yes we keep our girls as healthy as possible!
I looked up vegan homesteading and your channel came up. Are you vegan or vegetarian? You eat the eggs?
I wonder what state she’s in?
You know that cameras are portable, and you can put them on tables?!
4 years?...still growing chicken feed
맛있게 먹고 남은건 꼬꼬닭 먹고
