During the 80's, Colt had the rights to the AR-10 and completely ignored the market that was starving for that rifle. Colt also never cared about selling AR parts or concern for the civilian market needs. For some reason Colt thought if they supported the anti-gun agenda it would help their government contracts which in the end had zero effect. I inherited half a dozen colt’s from my father circa 1970 , it did got me into appreciate the engineering and versatility of the platform then came the ban and got a hold of several cmh prefix featureless and oversized trigger pins , then came the le line which I totally fell in love with , always finding a excuse to buy one on special occasions like my birth day ,Christmas, thanksgivings etc , etc even bought one at Walmart for $799 dollars back in the day ,so i ended up with 6 le prefix with all the roll marks , then the Cr thing happened, so I just needed one to compare and to maintain “tradition “ ,upon inspection found a lot of missing marks and details, but then found some new ones and cage numbers and this and that , finally went to the range and after zeroing , the Cr to my surprise was printing 2 -2.5 moa at a hundred yard with bulk ammo , so I felt I did not waste my money , and I was happy markings or no markings , so far I have purchased 3 of them and they are all shooters and consistently hit a 18x24 steel plate at 300 -400 yards . We may have lost most of the marking and have outsourced most of the parts but the performance is still there , so I am a happy colt / rosco / pathetic pony / whatever else fan boy .💪🏼💪🏼💪🏼💪🏼💥💥💥💥

CZ has/had plans for a US factory in Little Rock, Arkansas, but the unspecified virus of unknown origin followed by the acquisition of Colt is supposedly delaying this for 3-5 years. Unlike a lot of other gun companies, CZ isn't owned by a large, diversified holding company with billions in assets. Their main business, for better or worse, is selling guns. Since that business is one that's persistently at risk of legislation disrupting it, it can be hard to line up financing for building out production facilities without large government contracts.

Proving that you have used the right material is probably the easiest step in the entire manufacturing process. You ask the supplier for a cert. When the material comes in it has a cert attached. After that you just maintain a chain of custody for that cert. The auditor or inspector comes along and says, "is this material certified as C158?" The machine operator then shows him the cert. I got lucky with my 6920. Date code on the barrel says it was made 3/16… Has all of the markings on the parts as they should be.
It was a Magpul edition of the rifle, so it wasn’t fully milspec in that regard. But I bought it used, and by used… I mean it was sold, taken out of the box and put in a safe or closet for a year. The only thing is that it didn’t have the magazine, but Colorado may have been the cause of that, and it was missing the typically included vertical foregrip and the box. The kicker is that I got it from Cabela’s for only $600.
I did change it up a bit for usability, Replaced the safety and CH with Radian alternatives, and the trigger with a Geissele SSA. I’m holding on to those original parts though.
I got it to shoot just as much as I got it for the Colt name, so a little mild alteration doesn’t bother me.

@@sammuse1619 You are just being pedantic at this point… As it seems you are arguing the whole “it ain’t milspec if it ain’t select fire” thing that gets spouted around.
My lower has the M4 roll mark… It’s made using the same forgings and tooling with the same process, it’s just absent a few government markings and a third hole.
The barrels are likewise made from the same blanks as the military ones to the same standards, just cut a couple inches longer.
Same for the rest of the components… everything is the same except for the specific differences needed to make them semi only civilian legal.
That is literally the point the man is making in this video, that the rifles they made several years ago, were otherwise practically identical to the military rifles, minus the semi only bits and legal length barrel.
So if you are going to argue things like semi only means not mil spec… You are just being pedantic. Everyone knows that it’s not 100% the same as a military rifle because of legality reasons.

I recently bought a Colt OEM2 from an online retailer that I won't mention. I was under the impression that these were new old stock from back when they were doing the OEM/stripped rifles. It was deceptively advertised as marked with the highly desired "m4 carbine" marking. I received it and it was just a CR6920 with the "M4 Carbine" marking, ok that's fair. What really pissed me off though was that the safety selector stop notches were machined down, however they didn't machine them completely to clean up the receiver, just little raised flat circles to rub salt in the wound for where they should be. What a disgrace, I wish I had caught it before taking it home from my dealer. Never again, I'll buy an LMT or Daniel Defense before I ever buy another Colt.

Sometimes we even pause the machines, if we get held up on something. So every single DoD pistol we make is that much more expensive. It's made that much more difficult by the fact that the management in charge of production completely ignores any kind of lean or rudimentary efficiency practices, which is where the immense overhead cost of our guns reflects on all our price tags.

I got a couple of Colt AR 15s including the 6920, 6940 and the 6940P. All of the them shot well right out of the box and only required a slight adjustment on the sights. Colt also provided a set of BUIS, two 20 round colt magazines and a cleaning kit with each gun. Some AR 15 today don't even come with any sights or magazines. It was disappointing that they stopped their production of the 6940P Piston AR 15 rather quickly.

    I have a 2021 Colt AR15A4
The bolt carrier is marked "C" on the left side. The
bolt is marked "MPC". The barrel is marked "C MP
    5.56 NATO 1/7"
The bolt came with white paint mark from QC. The
barrel came with a yellow paint mark from QC. The
lower says "Colt Defense". The rifle shoots perfectly.
These rifles are Colt. They still individually inspect bolts, and barrels, whereas most other companies just do shitty batch testing.

The new colt cr6920 quality is on the another level if you want to compare it to your fn Chf PSA rifle or a M&p sport 2 etc.. for me the colt is bare minimum now on a rifle I would own for straight lifetime use. Colt, Bcm, DD …all these other new colt haters now but I can tell you first hand they’re rifles are the same as they’re older ones. I have a older le6920 and my cr6920 might actually have a better all around detail to it. It’s worth the money!

I bought a M4 Socom from Colt two weeks ago that was manufactured 01/30/23.
I had to send it back to colt because it was constantly double feeding and failing to feed with wolf gold and federal ammo. I keep my guns well lubed and maintained. I’m really disappointed given that it’s my first colt.
Thankfully, my rifle is still under Colts 1 year warranty and I’m hoping they’ll fix it or replace it entirely. Starting to regret not getting the FN military collector M4…

    • @Kilo1158
      @Kilo1158 9 місяців тому

If you are going for a more clone correct M4, you would still want to go with Colt since they put all the markings on the SOCOMs and don't on the FN. Also, FN has a separate production line and use different parts and steel on the civilian FN M4 than the actual military FN M4, which IMO defeats the point of FN's M4 clone offering.

As a young child I bought my Colt SP1 to replace my HK 91, because the lighter rifle was eaiser for me to use in training. I bought many Colt ARs, and then Colt got weird. I gave up on Colt 30 years ago, and I have no regrets. I doubt that Colt can ever recover and make a market competitive rifle, even under Czech ownership. I had to deal with Colt and the officer class in the Marines back in the 80's as the Army and Marine Corps disagreed over the M16A2. Screw Colt and screw the incompetent cry babies in the officer class of the Marines.

    • @Humberto4790

When you say "weird", what did Colt do?

    • @johnphillips222
      @johnphillips222 2 роки тому +3

That is a good question. Colt went weird in sooo many different ways. They have told the civilian market to pound sand so many times. Citizens buy more ARs than all the cops and military.
Colt upset a lot of people with the 0.174" pins, instead of the 0.155" normal pins. That way it was impossible to upgrade the trigger. Colt also hollowed out the bolt carrier and also installed a sear block.
Colt has also cheapened out their ARs with cost reduced handguards, solid buffers, etc.
Colt also acted like A holes to dealers, forcing the dealers to buy useless Colt handguns to allow the dealer to buy one Colt AR.
After the dark years of 93-2004 were over, Colt did NOT return back to normal for civilian sales.
Colt also has some dumb ex-Marines in charge as poor mismanagers. I dislike them so much.
Bushmaster (before being bought out) made such better products. After the dark years expired in 2004 many other companies have made better, cheaper, and faster ARs than Colt. Everyone has their favorite brand. I have mine. Comparing my Colt SP1 and other Colt ARs to other companies' ARs shows that Colt is nothing special.
This is not entirely logical, but the cop armorers were such snobs about Colt. I disliked those cop "experts" so much that I rejected their Colt snobbery. The cops were almost always so wrong.
Those are a few reasons why I told Colt to "Have a nice day."

Since Colt is the only company that can commercially sell cage code marked rifles, they should run with it! The government already went to FN for the contract, but they can’t sell cage code marked rifles. What happens if Colt doesn’t get any military contracts and their out of the picture? There’s nothing to say that the government won’t go to another company to replace Colt.

6920 16" complete upper most of the markings are missing, no C, no F, the ejector pin retainer roll pin was smeared over from test fire. QC is definitely lower. They did replace the bolt no charge and never asked for any info other than address to send it to, so that's a plus.

Good point about Mil-spec not being better. It's more of a minimum the government will accept. Many manufacturers exceed Mil-spec with their rifles.

A recent shipment of oem1s and oem2s made in late July have cr prefix serial numbers, but have “M4 carbine” marked lowers (rollmarked). I grabbed two of them. But the barrels are marked with “r” in addition to colt markings. The carriers are “c” etched with “mpc” bolts. Cage coded upper receivers. Hopefully this is the norm going forward.

I’m not a purist and don’t know the first thing about Colt markings. Uncle Sam gave me an M-16 in 1969 and trained me to use it. Yesterday I took delivery of a new Colt 6933. With both those rifles and the ones in between I just want (and wanted) them to work. I’m not being argumentative or disagreeing. What’s important may differ between people and their needs. The 6933 is portable and makes a great car gun. That is exactly what I wanted. I tested it and it works fine.
I’m completely satisfied with my S&W AR carbine though some may think that is sacrilege.
