Their older stuff is much more death metal than it is now, i would now call it some avant gard prog metal. I think ‘New Found’ gives a good blend of what Gojira is about, if you’re willing to stay on this album. So a reaction to New Found would be cool to see. Cheers

Sphinx is much closer to what they used to do. And they still have death metal elements

@@massivecunt8263 it does sound like a FMTS track, but one that didn’t make it cause it’s just not that great of a song imo. Off the album Fortitude, New Found is by far the best track for me.

Nice reactions lads :) If you haven't already, you should check out New Found and Grind off the same album. Also, this is experimental progressive metal, their older stuff are more like raw tech death/death/groove. This whole album is pretty light compared to Gojira's other work.

    He said black metal. OOOF
This is groove metal, their previous stuff was more death metal.

OK so what's the difference! Teach meeee!

@@MintReactions I can’t just explain. You would have to listen to black metal and you would instantly hear the difference. Black metal is much darker and faster, and has an evil feeling to it. Groove metal is more focused on groove and melodies, which this album does a lot. Notice how the drums aren’t just going hella fast all the time and have a nice groove to them throughout the song.

OK dope. I definitely like groove metal then. What other bands would you recommend?

@@MintReactions Pantera is the father of groove metal, but their sound is pretty different than this album. This album is progressive with elements of groove. You should enjoy Pantera tho, they rock(ed)! I recommend Cemetery Gates, Mouth For War and Cowboys From Hell from them. (Lyric video for Cemetery Gates tho, official video cuts off the intro of the song).

@@MintReactions Lamb Of God is a big groove metal band, but I’m sure you guys wouldn’t like the vocal style. The bands I’m about to list aren’t groove metal, but they are bands non metal heads can use to get into metal. Disturbed, Alter Bridge, Sevendust, Avenged Sevenfold (Hail to the king album), Stone Sour, and a lot more that my slow brain can’t think of right now. I’m sure you guys will dig Disturbed, almost all their albums are bangers, just don’t start off with Evolution. That album is horrible. I recommend Ten Thousand Fists, Indestructible, or The Sickness if you want something more old school with a hip hop influence.
