Sometime ago, don’t know the exact date, a Colombian airline plane landed on a levee in Louisiana due to storm damage and after repairs took off from the levee. Was an episode on the series Mayday.
Anyone who's looking for update, "In December 2023, Sergei Skuratov, director of Ural Airlines, stated that contrary to previous plans the plane would not be taking off from the field again, saying that this course of action would not make "economic sense"."
In 2019, an airbus a320 URAL airlines plane made an emergency landing in a field, on takeoff the somalet collided with a flock of birds, the crew decided to land the plane on the field, it was even filmed
The plane landed on a runway somewhere in Russia as far as i know but they wre trying to fix the aircraft and immediately let it take off from there idk why
Meanwhile a Soviet built IL-62 took off with full fuel and stating with nothing more then a lil hope and was still in good flying condition when it retired in the 80s
Reminds me of the time in the 80’s where they landed a plane on a levee during a dual engine failure. They replaced the engines and took off on a nearby road.
i’m in AMT school rn working to get my A&P license so I really enjoy these vids. my instructor asks us about things that has happened in the Aviation world every day, so needless to say I have a lot to talk about😂
You should make a video about the East German interflug il-62 making a grass landing, there is enough video material from it and the plane is still on the same spot and serves as a museum now. They landed it at Stölln/Rhinow airfield in Gollenberg, so it could become a memorial
It's not the first . Look up the boing in Louisiana I believe landed on a Levi and took off from the grass after changing an engine if I remember right
With the embargo and risk of damage to the engines during a take off attempt it was determined the plane is worth more as parts due to sanctions. It’s ironic that its the second ural airlines a320 to land in a field in the past few years
If they'd had Seabees, they could have just built a runway in front of the plane. Might take them a little longer than the few days it would take them back in WWII.
There was a plane that made an emergency landing on/by a levee near New Orleans in the late 80’s/early 90’s that I also thought it took off from as well. Regardless the sheer lunacy of “yeah we’ll take off from this field” I’m sure to applaud or be appalled.
TACA 110: I think I got a worse situation and a better luck than you. (TACA 110 is a Boeing 737-300 which is having her final approach in New Orleans during a thunderstorm. However, the thunderstorm is too large and the design of the engine isn’t capable for this amount of water during that thunderstorm. The aircraft landed safely on a grass levee right next to a NASA’s Michaud Assembly Facility.)

@@GrillerRohde I don't know, really, but I like the extra multiple exits. I don't know if all US or Russian or in other Countries how their Air Lines is designed or One maker like Boeing, Who knows??
You know it wasn't the first time that a aircraft managed to take off from a grass field after emergency Landing TACA Flight 110 how to make an emergency landing on grass levee near NASA's facility after experiencing a dual engine flame out, but then after the landing the investigators realise the plane was sinking into the soil so they made a plan they repaired the aircraft a little bit and then the plane took off from the field to Moisant field where further maintenance work was performed
This is a lot like TACA airlines flight 110 (don’t fact check me on the flight number) where the pilot had to land a 737-400 on a field in 1989 and then after they fixed it up they flew it away into a NASA base. Edit 1: It could’ve been a 600 I can’t remember
This is not a first. A Boeing 737 in the 90's I think had to land on a trip of land in the bayou near a NASA facility. They replaced the engine on the spot and the plane was good for service.
Believe it or not this isn’t the first time this has happened, but with a different aircraft. It landed on a burm in I think southern US due to engine loss. They repaired it and flew it off later that year.
Update Shortly after the accident, Ural Airlines management announced their intention to have the aircraft take off from the field under its own power after a thorough inspection, but later reports in Russian media suggested that the plane was to be dismantled and used for parts.

Landing on a field is nothing special. Passenger plane posssibly taking off from field is tho.
I cannot recall the location but an airliner landed in a grassy field near a levy. It was repaired and flown off so it can be done.
They could use some roller compactor machines and smooth & pack a temporary runway before the cold weather .
