One of the greatest kids TV shows of all time. The Banana Splits combined eccentric comedy with psychedelic sounds & images to create something truly unique.
The Memories ...I watched this show as a kid ....The little girls dancing ....... looking back, they were pretty amazing for a kid's. show. I wonder if any of them became famous ?
The Banana Splits and the Sour Grapes Bunch are the greatest combination of Smiles and Happy Tears with memories galore for those who can remember this classic show which should be on dvd!
I dont have to imagine as I wont post information that is not true. I did not get my info from IMDB but from a Joseph Barbera autobiography "My Life In Toons". The Banana Splits was his baby and he was very fond of the show calling it his special child. He took close interest in Colette Chenault abd Kathy Odare who were both children of close friends, None of the girls were replaced during the 31 episodes filmed. There are some very funny stories of the young girls antics during production
Wow. I never saw this particular dance number when I was watching as a kid, all those years ago. I guess I must've just missed that episode. Glad I got to see it here. :)
LoL !! How Cool is This !! That Cat on Lead Vocals ..Ctfuu !! And The Band and The Sour Grapes are Gettin Down..Gotta Love it !! What a Time to Grow up During !!!
I dont know where you get your information but the Sour Grapes Messenger girls were all called Charlie and were performed by the young actresses Debra Thibodeaux, Colette Chenault, Julie Graham, Kathy O'Dare, and Shirley Hillstrom; there was never a Barbara Miller. Julie & Kathy would later appear in many Happy Days Episodes. Very Easy to look up. I never understand why people come here and post dreck, its kind of sad...
@Spiderwebsider, you're right, it was from "The Arabian Knights", but the phrase the magician used was "Rozann kobar", and then he'd say which animal's size he wanted to take on: "Size of an elephant!"
Do you imagine that every person who had ever been in that place was listed in biographies? There were hundreds of different child actresses that tried out and were filmed. I saw black and white photos taken by their mother of the sets and costumes. Did you know that Janet Jackson tried out for that part as well? Thank you for the information about Happy Days. Not all possible information is listed in IMDB.
"Charley" is Barbara Miller. She was also the first premier episode "Holley" in the first segment of "land of the lost". Her sisters Cheryl and Andrea were also on television on the 'Bugaloos" and "Magic Mongo" episodes. Their parents live in Rubidoux California. In the mud sixties they were very show business oriented. I dated Andre for about a year, she has some difficulty with life now because of the influences of the Hollywood lifestyle of her youth.
Get that vibe from Barry White's Doin' The Banana Splits Show. Ain't Barry singing it though. That was Ricky Lancelotti, who later joined Frank Zappa's Mothers of All Creation. Real foot tappin' groovy stuff that makes you want to dance! I loved the splickers. They were a wonderful part of my childhood. What an amazing time that was to be alive. Even The Sour Grapes Bunch get in on the act. Nothing like this today. Try Banana Splits Wait Til Tomorrow too. There was some really great music on The Banana Splits Show.
I have found the Banana Splits Annual which has the story where they decide to hire a female 👩🎤 singer to add some much needed glamour to their group. This story is entitled Twangs A Lot. The ladies who turn up fight amongst themselves. If they were good fighters perhaps they could have fought off the Sour Grapes bunch whenever one of their Charley girls called.
When I was reading the stories in my two Banana Splits Annuals I wondered if I could have written these stories any better than their 📝 writers. In the Twangs A Lot story young ladies apply as 👨🎤 singers for The Splits, but a big fight breaks out between them while they are waiting and hoping to be auditioned. These ladies should have been employed as female security whenever the Sour Grapes bunch came looking for trouble.
I have two Banana Splits Annuals. There is a story in one where The Banana Splits decide to hire a female 👩🎤 singer in order to appeal to a wider audience. Several young ladies apply but they are somewhat lacking in singing talent, and the Splits don’t know how to tactfully explain this. It occurred to me that these young ladies could have Stood up for the Splits when the female Sour Grapes Bunch would pick on them. What they lacked in singing ability they could have made up for in fighting ability!😅
Yes, you are correct. Kathy O'Dare was the biggest star out of the group of girls, as she went on to star in several happy days episode (and was on the cover of a tv guide), a few brady bunch episodes, and a movie. Julie Graham was in only one happy days episode. Do you happen to know which actress name belong to the tall brunette? How about the black girl? The three blonde girls I know which is which. I have lots of photos of the show.
I wondered why the member of the Sour Grapes 🍇 Gang who came in always seemed to be called Charley. The Charley character was clearly played by more than one young actress. Curious.
Now I know where M3GAN got her dance moves from. Prediction: She shows up and does her dance, then slays all 4 of them while The Sour Grapes Bunch runs out in terror. M3GAN then looks at the camera and says, "No more BS."
@pictureisup1 I heard from Cheryl last year, she said Barbara had finally left her husband Butch in the lake Perris CA area. She is said to be doing okay. There were many different girls who would interview, fit, rehearse, and dance. Only a few had their names listed. The parent's pocketbook and political savvy had a lot to do with this. The rigors and discipline placed on these young people can cause real trauma. She had said at one time if she had a choice about it, she would not have done it.
I do not really care about Barbara Baird Miller, or her sisters. We no longer communicate. They were all very spoiled and misbehaved. She is on the credits of "Land of the Lost" in one trailer, but besides the photos and the stories about how they had to get up so early, and where the filming took place, there is only their word. Probably got scrubbed from the record because of their tantrums. They were typical adults who were former "child stars"! - I think you know what I mean.
@pictureisup1 Andrea was fun to be around most of the time. She had run away from home at about fourteen, and fell in with some rap-star dope dealer for about a year or so. When I met her she was about twenty four or so. She would act like a spoiled brat at times, and throw violent tantrums if she did not get her way once in a while. You probably know about how the parents of child-actors often use threats and bribes to control their progenies.

Those kids will be approaching 60 yrs of age now. Frightening how the years fly by.
The Banana Splits came on when I was 7 and 8 years old, I just turned 60 this past September 2.
Include me too....😂😂😂😂
It will happen to all of us then death ☠️ if only getting old etc could be outlawed? And we all stayed young? And lived for ever 🙏🙏🙏
Insane!
Loved watching the show. It was fun.
I'm 60 years old and I loved this show.
lol 64 I still have my club cirtificit
The Memories ...I watched this show as a kid ....The little girls dancing ....... looking back, they were pretty amazing for a kid's. show. I wonder if any of them became famous ?
Brings back so many memories of coming home from school. I'd grab a twinky from the pantry and go sit down and watch Banana Splits.
Only in the groovy late 60's could two different groups like The Banana Splits and The Sour Grapes Bunch get together AND BOOGIE THEIR BUTTS OFF!

Written by the legendary Mr. Barry White. And the cool is on full display.
Great Sour Grapes Girls
What memories
@SgtTravisBickle I just remembered she wore that, but flat black shoes. One of the sences that she filmed was on her birthday in 1970.
AMAZING SOUR GRAPES BUNCH ! : )

If the Sour Grapes are all girls named "Charlie," why didn't they call themselves "The Charlie Girls" or "Charlie Angels"?
Yes, you are correct. Sadly Kathy O'Dare died in 2010.
Shazatt Robarr. It was the Arabian Nights (or was it Knights??)
I remember thinking hey, those older girls are hawt!
Wait, it just hit me! Isn't this what Veruca Salt wore in Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory?
No. Her dress was red. They'res is purple
Only time in which both clubs got along with each other.
i wanted to be a Sour Grape girl!!!I`ll be 60 soon. Is it too late? loll
Never too late , get your boots on steph , your on !
Would you believe that’s Barry White singing? It is though!
The sour grapes 🍇 bunch they where nothing but trouble 😂 !
The Sour Grapes. Baddies or goodies, I was never quite sure....
I wondered why the member of the Sour Grapes 🍇 Gang who came in always seemed to be called Charley. The Charley character was clearly played by more than one young actress. Curious.
Wow, you're diffenetly a Banana Splits fan to collect photos of the show!!
No....he’s just a pervert....
@J14ngL00 Why don't they dance like that nowadays. Why don't they have music like this nowadays too?
@dynagravitomagnetic I am very sorry to hear that. I wish her well.
Now I know where M3GAN got her dance moves from. Prediction: She shows up and does her dance, then slays all 4 of them while The Sour Grapes Bunch runs out in terror. M3GAN then looks at the camera and says, "No more BS."
Y LO MEJOR DE TODO LAS TIRAS COMICA QUE TENIA LA ISLA DEL PELIGRO LAS MIL UNA NOCHE
So wild! Fun times
@SgtTravisBickle something like this. Very good

So the sour grapes were human girls, I thought they were actual grapes...
The girl 2nd from the right, is that Cindy from The Brady Bunch? Man it looks like it to me!!
I used to get a funny feeling in my stomach when the sour grapes bunch came out and danced...
Achebellitempi🤩🤩🤩😉😉
pulled the donkies tail that is
I hope those girl's parents left them with some money?
CelesteK being on an episode or two of a TV show like that would not pay a lot of money
jimmy Radcliff singing or producing
I watched 2008 version
0:01
whats was the cartoon where they pulled its tail and it span
That was 'Arabian Knights'.

Snorkey was an alien.
You meant mop
@@shyboi1779 Yes, an alien mop creature.
@dynagravitomagnetic I hope so. I am in the business too. I am an actor. I know that it the lifestyle can be hard on people.
classic

One of the Sour Grapes bunch was none other then Manson Family member Lynette "Squeaky" Fromme.
gutbucket I don't believe that. This show was made in 68 or 69 and these girls are a lot younger than the Manson girls.
It was meant as a joke. Can't believe all the people that ran with it. Cheers.
Yes all two ppl ran with it? Lmaooooo ok simp you got outed

Whoa...Well I hope thats not How People are Viewing this...Cus Thats just Sick !!!
