    7:58 The concept art of the plaza with the memorials using the rubble of the original Twin Towers looks cool. Reminds me of the Roman Colosseum.

      It's very nice but I think that the structure of the tower and how it look may caused many victims who are there during the attack have PTSD and many other horible feelings coming back to them.

    The Plaza used a Muzak satellite system connected to PA speakers installed in Summer 1998, it was connected to Muzak’s “Environmental” Channel, which is a satellite channel which plays easy listening instrumental covers of pop songs, aswell as original instrumental compositions, they had thousands of songs in rotation during this time. In the plaza footage from 9/11, 4 songs are captured.
    She’s Always A Woman (Muzak cover by Jim Devlin) originally by Billy Joel
    Windless (Original composition by pianist and composer Mike Strickland)
    How Deep Is Your Love (Muzak cover by Harley Music) originally by the Bee Gees
    (Will You) Come Back My Love (Muzak cover by Manasus Music) originally by The Wrens
    These are the only 4 captured on footage, however, many more songs would’ve played throughout the day, aswell as thousands of other songs from 1998 - 2001.

    i always wondered how accurate the locations of the memorial pools are to the towers and if the memorial park is at the same level as the original plaza

    • @jamesbooty
      @jamesbooty 11 місяців тому +20

      From what I've been able to gather, the memorial park is at a slightly lower elevation than the plaza was (313 feet vs 327 feet).
      The pools are also slightly smaller than the original tower footprints (176 feet square compared to 210 ft 10in). As such their locations are not exactly the same, either.
      I think that's unfortunate because the vast majority of people visiting the memorial will assume that the pools accurately represent the towers. They will look across them and imagine how large the towers would look in that space, and they will be visualizing them 30% smaller than they actually were.
      There are places in the underground memorial where the location and size of the original buildings can be accurately seen, though.

      The footprint of the south tower pool is slightly smaller , no idea why they made the pools smaller than the original footprint i guess they wanted to give visitors a sense of what it would be like to be in those buildings and stand where those firefighters , police officers and EMS personnel were killed that day.....many of them were in the south tower when it fell and they didn't survive.

    I never went there until long after 9/11 but the buildings and plaza always fascinated me. the plaza was such a neat spot with 4,5 and 6 surrounding it. it's hard to get an idea of the scale. a 9 story building in most towns would be hard to not notice but they were completely dwarfed by their sisters. that and the use of the aluminum facade I always really liked. wish they were still around.
