Some good opsec practices:
- Don’t be loud
- Don’t build a brand or persona
- Don’t create a continuous identity, if you get charged you don’t want to hand the prosecution a list of every other crime you’ve ever done.
How about don't do crime?
Yeah okay cool Pom had notoriety and could be trusted to deliver, but you’re not going to stay around long enough to reap the benefits anyway. Just look at any APT. It’s probably 1 actual group behind every 2-3 identified actors. Switch up your MO, name etc. Look up a video of a shark trying to attack a school of fish.

Honestly a tale as old as time when someone lets their ego go off it always ends in them getting into trouble. I have no doubt he will turn informant easy
Yup. Hackers for a long time have let their egos get ahead of them until it leads them to getting caught. People in general would benefit from not gloating on the internet; it has a tendency to bite them in the ass. I genuinely don't think these hackers really consider what they're doing as criminal. Sure they may take precautions, but a part of them is still LARPing as if they won't take serious federal heat if ever caught. It's like they imagine they're invincible.
Famous criminals in history have fit that profile too. They always wind up dead or serving life by the end. If you're gonna do this stuff, it's better to be ice cold. I wouldn't even want anything to do with Baph after this either, just because there's no guarantee he's not already pinched, especially if Pomf talked for a plea deal.
Pride comes before the fall
Once the head gets in, he will say it all...
Sounds like skill issue to me
Literally every other major hacker's life story goes like this. It's always guys who can't keep to themselves and end up ruining their own lives until they switch and start/join security firms.
I agree, it’s already been compromised and the chances of it being a honeypot is extremely high, so shutting it down is the best option

Hackers need to decentralize more and improve their OPSEC. It's almost always poor OPSEC taking these guys down. Trolling the feds through honeypots or a similar medium of their own is a good idea. Don't let the glow get too bright, let the darkness dim the light.

its almost inventible that someone with as many enemies as pompompurin would eventually get busted. if your that big of a target its gonna happen, just a matter of time. One tiny slip up is all it takes.
Realistically if he came to his senses and bailed before he slipped up he could have walked away. Issue is people with an ego like his can't step off their inflated bubble. They ride that shit until it bursts and takes them with it.

Good. All of those parasites need to be put away. At least it will be harder to steal for a little while.
About the “pom becoming informant” thing, We were pretty close. Casual conversations, voice calls and working on stuff together (nothing illegal).
He was/is a very soft spoken and soft souled guy, he is by far no hardened criminal and sadly have to agree I think he will take a deal, but with his coverage of omnipotent being a glowie, I dont think he will be roping in any of his forum members or friends
The best opsec has always been to not have an identity out there. You can get away with a lot of stuff if nobody even knows you exist. Never brag about stuff, and don't make any enemies you don't need to have.
But I gotta say, with pom being so young and just having the hackerman look about him, you know he would never resist giving himself a persona and bragging about his many exploits. And the police will def break him, no way he can handle decades long sentences being dangled like a guillotine over his neck, he would never survive fed prison.
So, if I was anyone who shared data with or used Pom's devices/server, I'd prob go dark for several months and start anew.
will there be another podcast episode ever?
Here’s the truth when dealing with criminals that they don’t realize.
We only have to get it right or lucky once, they have to get lucky every time.
Quite the opposite in some ways. Blue teamers (police and cyber security professionals) have to find every single flaw, exploit, and bug in a website. Red teamers and black hat hackers only need to find one. So if a website has 10 RCE vulnerabilities, the "good guys" have to find all 10 of them. The "bad guy" black hats only have to find one
@@rideroftheforce5245 black hats only have to make one mistake, and it’s a wrap. It doesnt cost the fbi, nsa, homeland anything but pride… doesn’t matter how successful a hacker was, one mistake and they get all the credit.
This dude is not alone, the decision he made and the message he wrote must have been done with some type of help and support such as a lawyer or something.

I know you must've got this question hundreds of times but what theme and browser do you use (for specific setting being asked, asking about theme/browser at 1:20 on the video.)
Brave browser, the purple is the default theme in a new private window.
i’m not familiar with the community mentioned in the video beyond what was shown in outlaw’s other videos. what’s the point behind providing a PGP signature in the message at 5:05?
the signature is generated from a "private key" that in theory, only the person sending this message would have. basically it's to confirm that this message is genuine and not some fraud trying to spread fake news.
It verifies that the author had access to the private key, which is a very good indication that they're whoever released the corresponding public key.
so the people reading his messages are able to confirm their authenticity.
The forum is gonna be taken down so when he tries to identify himself to the people reading the post in the future he will have no proof that it's him.
So he gave them a signature and further messages from him outside of the forum will be signed.
Assuming only pompompuran's computer was compromised. Even if the feds had access to this other guys account and access to everything on the forum, they would not have access to this guys private key. The only reason for signing it is to prove that it's actually him (or whoever else has access to his private key if any) that is writing the message, and not the feds acting like him or anything else like that.

I‘m a bit confused. How exactly did the slip up of not using TOR or a VPN get him caught? I understand that once the police have your real IP, its over, but to that websites administrator, that IP could‘ve belonged to anyone? How did they tie the account back to pom?
Every single time you communicate with a website it logs your IP. So when you send a message to google saying "hey let me log into the account Chrome 11 with password123" google logs that request and your IP. When you left a comment on this video google logged your username, comment, and IP. Pom had an account on IntelX when he wasn't using a vpn or tor.
@@rideroftheforce5245 That I understand, but how did the website owner tie that account to Pom? As far as I‘m aware, the username he logged in as was something completely different than „pompompurrin“. Is this some alias that pom used?
