    I do think the theory that they're doing this because rerun sales are low is probably true. Like if they buff seele then they'd actually be incentivized to actually rerun her.

      my problem with hoyo is that they use these dev notes to table more time. they think they're in the clear for now and will take their sweet time (apparently patch 3.2) to "implement" this.

      ​@@jeweler-blond I think some people have misinterpreted what the Devs actually mean when they say 3.2.
      If you read it carefully, they actually mean the current issues in 3.0 will be fixed in 3.2, however the complaints will all be addressed ASAP (starting from next patch). This makes sense because it will take them some time to retroactively fix 3.0 while they work on adjusting future patches.

    I would still be cautious about all this. Hoyo loves to test players' patience when it comes to QoL stuffs so until the actual changes roll out, I would still keep my doubts.

      I learned my lesson from Artifact Transmuter, Sanctifying Elixir and the Recommended Artifact function. Being cautiously optimistic is good. Then you can jump on the 'I told you so' train when HSR dosen't deliver. After 4 months, and they don't adapt to players, its time to move on to newer games. Afterall, they will always be Hoyoshills. Let them fund the game.

      @@silverjuly9339 i would say the whole artifact stuff is honestly a good thing that they strike middle ground rather than giving you perfect stats because it either becomes too easy or balanced around those perfect stats HOWEVER im sure its no coincidence that qol is being pushed to their newer games and their powercreep is even worse

      ZZZ came a very long way from 1.0 to 1.4 in terms of QoL so I do mostly trust them on this. If its Genshin then I wont 😂

    A perfect way to buff Silver aside from making her ultimate an AOE would be to change her skill so that its weakness implant will always match the element of the first unit in the team's lineup. This would make her a lot more consistent outside of Mono-Quantum. Personally I also think they could even make is a blast skill that implants three enemies at a time, to make it even more viable

      I love this idea!! I really hope they do this. She’s so much fun and it’s sad that she got replaced in pretty much her best team, Acheron, since that used to be my justification for running her over Pela lol.
      Meanwhile Ratio isn’t really competing for the top spot rn, and mono quantum has that same problem with Seele’s current power level.
      Hopefully Hoyo will do above the bare minimum and actually make their characters current, rather than just increasing numbers.

      @__-pas-__ Seele would benefit from getting resurgence for getting enemies to 50% HP. ratio I have no clue.
      But yeah, SW needs to be made multi-target. Tbh I still use her all the time, but mainly cuz I love her. She needs multi-target so bad. Also, her debuffs need higher multipliers, such as doubling the ones fron her talent and adding an extra 15-20% to her ult's def shred.

      Honestly yeah, one of the biggest SW flaw is that her skill implant is absolutely nightmare if you don't play her on mono quantum (who tf even play non-quantum these days).

      Definitely a step in the right direction!
      say let us pick any unit on our team. I don't care for putting my damage dealer in first slot. Only ever 2nd or 3rd. Since everything does aoe now, its free ER every attack that happens.

    I'm a little concerned about the potential dumbing down of quests. You're right about the presentation being the issue and I'm worried they don't understand that. I don't even mind getting lore through dialogue, but even in the specific example they give where lore dialogue is optional, the lore dialogue is somehow both vague and bloated and felt like a waste of time. ZZZ's dialogue is incredibly well written in comparison to both HSR and Genshin. I wish they would devote more time to how the dialogue is written and the clarity of information so the average player can understand the relevant lore to the main plot on a fist listen without having to pick it apart or have it repeated over and over like that "history lesson" sequence early on with Aglaea.

      agreed, you don't need a skip button if something is competent. the hsr character trailers are basically ALL intriguing and not even just bc of action or animation. even when it's just dialogue, it's really compelling. and it's in a short amount of time. if they improved dialogue (plus did more showing than telling) and just let things captivate the audience, no one would need a skip button. and they could flesh out more characters

      ​​​@@oh.ikarus Idk what's with HSR animation in cutscenes but they look very crisp, especially since 2.X. The shading almost look like it came from Unreal engine animation despite the game still using Unity as their engine. But sadly they are too short. Maybe because they are more expensive?
      But either way, I really wish the presentation could be better. At least smoothen the overworld animation like character limbs & expression + camera angles. Also if they cannot provide crisp 3D animation, just do 2D instead like what they did for Myriad celestia trailers, especially the lore-telling.

      ​@@oh.ikarusZZZ has a skip button and I've played the game under pressure given that I started 3 days before Ellen's first banner ended and I was grinding to get enough pulls. Yet I never skipped and got interested in reading the story, every main quest, trust event, side content, even random dialogues with the NPC's they all felt so engaging I forgot there was a skip button because it didn't need one. While sometimes HSR is padding its runtime so much I just start dialogue mashing because what they spend a whole cutscene explaining would've fitted one sentence.

      @@oh.ikarus Tbh, Skip is only must if there are content locked behind story, aka HSR before 3.0 or Genshin's Inazuma. Genshin implemented boss fight without progressing the story back in early 4. something, HSR only recently. The point of skipping the story is farming materials for player play for gacha only. ZZZ's and HI3rd dialogue is some sort of interactable video unlike Genshin/HSR therefore rewatch could be implemented.

      @@jerryeljeremy7790the reason why hsr’s cutscenes are shorter is just because of the game director’s storytelling philosophy. He choses to accentuate more, smaller moments over a quest, whereas genshins philosophy is for longer bigger moments.

    Bro imagine if they actually made Yukong useable! Every character including herself being able to use her buffs for many more turns like other supports do and perhaps more? I couldn’t ask for anything more than being able to use my hyper invested Yukong again

      sorry to bust your bubble my dear Wolf friend, but I imagine they were talking specifically about limited 5-star characters and not 4-stars or Standard Units. I hope I'm wrong because I got a E6 Yukong but never cared to build or use her because of how her kit and buff works. I love her character design.

      4 star in HSR is unfortunately transition character before someone invested a 5 star upgrade, pretty much the same thing on every Gacha game. The issue is there are no open world combat content in HSR, the combat is pretty much AUTO sim. There is no point on using a 4 star on 90% of the content because it's just increasing the combat duration. There are no friendship system whatsoever, there isn't any incentive to use 4 star (Maxed out most 4 star, never really used them)

      I'm an E6 Yukong haver myself, and she is amazing on double-Harmony teams with Robin, and especially with FUA
      Since Robin exits the turn order while singing, you don't have to worry about SPD-tuning anymore, and with correct setup you can get 14 offensive actions under the ATK% boost, 10 of which also get the CRIT boosts (including FUAs and ults) in a Feixiao-March Hunt-Robin-Yukong team
      Also, using Yukong's 88% ATK buff before Robin ults is a *massive* amplification for Robin too, so it doesn't even go one way either

      @@hlonghi It was leaked that March Pres was getting a buff. So, my actual guess is that everyone from the first couple of patches will get a buff. All 5 and 4 stars.

    I wanna use my Arlan.
    The CN version of the dev radio said they will make the characters themselves stronger.
    Most likely due to dev cycle we won't see these buff til 3.2 at earliest.
    1.0 to 1.4 characters I expect to be looked at first.

      @ SU is basically a safe haven for powercrept and benched units and also where you can have the most fun by experimenting with teams that don't make sense.

    Them even addressing the issue was surprising to me. But I won't celebrate too early, and will only do so once we see these changes and most importantly, how they're going to buff the older characters, or which characters are they gonna buff (hopefully all the 1.X's)

    I'm relieved... i know it isn't everything and there is a lot of room for interpretation but, chill guys... they ARE willing to do stuff, we just need to keep addressing the correct issues and they might just keep on improving.

    Man let's be honest Hoyo messed up really good with this powercreep, releasing way too many characters up till now, making older units in the game feels useless just to sell new ones, hp inflation, and them not seeming to care for players concerns for like a year.... turned this game from the best hoyo has to offer to greed feast where people bet how many patches this new unit usefulness will last, and how long everyone will throw it away focusing on the new one, up to before the release of Firefly people will get excited for new units but now they all look at the new character (like The Herta and aglea) and think "Yeah I don't know about that, they will probably get powercreept soon". Hoyo greed burned all of the game "Goodwill" unfortunately, and unless it's 100% proven that with the new changes things actually get fixed and they are actually listening for player feedback I advise NOT getting your hopes up and NOT giving them the benefits of the doubt, because for all we know they could just bring something else up out of their asses after the backlash has calmed down.

      I am cautious about this announcement. The idea of a bunch of older units getting stronger from a buisness perspective sounds good and bad. Bad because it might make new units less desirable, but good because there rerun banner sales are so low because there is no reason to pull a rerun unit, whereas in Genshin reruns can still make a lot of money during filler patches. We all know that Jingyuan keeps getting buffed but that is not a coincidence or accident, he is a CN fan favourite so it makes sense, my best early game decision was skipping Seele for Jingyuan. My main concern is how they will implement, like will it be free or a paid thing, and how will it be implemented. I feel like even if older units become "viable enough", people will still be dissapointed because there is way too much hype now that anything less then an old unit being top tier will make people angry.

    I agree that I enjoyed the lore of amphoreus quite a bit but the presentation is where it was really lacking.

      3.0 main story is the longest it's ever taken me to get through a main quest. Or at least it feels that way. People say it's not that long but any time I feel like I'm making my way towards a goal in the quest it just ... keeps going?? I have had to take frequent breaks going through it cuz I can only digest little chunks at a time. It feels like I'm just going through the motions and not actually working towards something if that makes sense.

      It really makes me wonder where they are spending all their profits on.
      We are 3.0 now but still stuck with the same few end game modes that get updated MONTHLY. Events are short and spaced far apart. There’s little to nothing to do except to rerun MOC PF AS after I built my Aglaea.
      People love to argue it’s a gacha they want you to have time for other things. No this shouldn’t be an excuse especially when the game being this successful still suffer from content drought and poor presentation of story. The gameplay has depth but there isn’t enough content for the players to have fun with it.

    The only reason HSR is doing this is because their powercreep/storytelling got bad enough where people are legit quitting in masses and that in turn messes with their profits.
    Hoyo has definitely proven themselves just like 95% of companies/studios, they will only act once their bottom line gets affected enough and it's safe to infer that with the reception of HSR's powercreep over the past 6 months and 3.0's divisive storytelling. When studios/corpos "care", they care about their image, reception, and money and not so much the altruistic version of "care" a lot of players like to say they do. The whole identity of gacha is antithetical to the idea of altruistic care, to actually proactively seek out ways to fix things before their players make enough of a fuss about it to hurt their business/economic metrics notably.

      Anyways "powercreep" is not a thing. New characters obviously will always be better than whatever came 2 years before them. And Hoyo is a Chinese company, so they have to follow Chinese product laws. Which pretty much blocks them from modifying already sold products (a.k.a buffing limited characters by changing their kits). So these so called "buffs" will be something more indirect than direct. Like as special stage buffs in endgames, or new LCs or maybe 1-2 new support who can work well with old units.

      Not only are you saying this right after the devs quite literally admitted they've caused issues with the powercreep (the very SUBJECT of this video)
      But you ALSO quite literally defined to me an aspect of what powercreep does by saying: "New characters obviously will always be better than whatever came 2 years before them"

      100% agree. Star rail combines honkai power creep with genshin character release schedule so it’s incredibly likely that they will pull the new weapon buffs specific characters please spend more money please for buff!. At least in honkai the weaker characters can still be used for the bosses they were designed for and become standard or war treasury after some time and Genshin tends to make characters that fit a certain gameplay style and not just trying to make them better then the last every time.

    I want 100% action advance with sparkle. and AoE debuff with guaranteed choosing weakness on Silver Wolf.
    I spent lots of money for their Lichtcone and Multiple Eidolons. I feel like got scammed really hard for pulling characters I like (seele, sparkle, SW)
    If they dont follow throught their promise I will just quit this game and any gacha games in general, due to my bad experience of powercreep and HP inflation.

      Seele e0s1, Silver Wolf e1s0, Sparkle e2s1. I too love Quantum and wish to use my older characters again. My poor DHIL hasn't been used in ages! I tried him in MoC 12 one or two seasons ago? He got his butt womped. I switched to the newer unit Rappa and she had zero issues. I have lots of older characters I miss getting to use, but noooooo, it's dang near impossible to play them effectively. Jingliu will get outshone by The Herta, just like DHIL was outshone by Rappa. Blade's closest replacement will be the future Mydei in terms of playstyle, but by weakness it'd be Feixiao from wind. DoT has been long dead for forever, my poor Kafka and Black Swan only got used for a short bit when I had Acheron until I got Jiaqiou. Acheron herself is e2s1 so she doesn't need the two Nihility.

    On the honkai impact topic they also release divine keys for old valkyries or characters that give them niches or specific use cases, and with part 2, they release characters with locked attribute tags that unlock when new characters come out so they work better with them

      I have never played HI3 so I have a question. These methods of making older characters stronger, are they paid methods or use whatever wish currency HI3 has? I am trying to make my own guesses about how Hoyo will make older units stronger and my big concern is that it will involve paying or using stellar jades.

      Honkai impact is different case as you can get older characters just by grinding or handed out for free....like you can get E6 for a character if you grinded longer.
      so the Agument core buff will reworked whole kit new animation new look but it was too good made them meta it hurt the game,
      then they moved to pulling new weapons system less grind same results andsince you get character for free no one minds.

      @@Candytime9Well, there are 2 different ways the *directly* buff characters.
      The current way is with divine keys (signature weapon). It doesnt change their kit _that_ much, but adds new mechanics and better stats/scaling for more damage. This is via gacha though (do note that hi3 rates are MUCH better than hsr and genshin)
      Note about hi3 *signature* weapons: they play ONLY for the intended character, working in tandem with their kit (adding passive stacks, working with the playstyle, better scaling, new buffs, etc) so theres no such thing as sharing weapons without losing a lot of the buffs
      The old method (which i hope hsr uses) is via augment cores. These change the character entirely (though usually still stays faithful to the original concept) these are farmable materials (hardlocked via weekly limit) and are completely f2p.

      Thank you. As much as I was sad augments were forgotten the divine key and new craftable stigmata sets was a GREAT addition for old characters with the part 2 system!! And I wish more people talked about it cause it comes with so much value like new animations and lines for your favorite character!! And you still have the choice of switching back! So, you're not even locked into it. I hope HSR does something similar.

    Seele not needing to use a sp uppon defeating an enemy for her extra attack + increasing her single target dmg would be nice I guess. Her ult dmg should actually rival Fei Xiaos and Acherons Ult dmg. Thats all thought I would want to change on her.

      I would give her "enemy targeted by Seele's skills that would end up with 10-20% hp, Seele kills it instantly, the effect doesnt apply to boss/elite enemy". This would make her much more consistent not screwing your run because enemy has only 1% hp left after enemy.

Honestly I think increasing her multipliers to meta unit standards would be enough. Her kit doesnt feel outdated at all. I see people still 0-1 cycle MoC but they are using 3 supports (high investment I know). But aside of simple stat boosts what could we change on her kit? The problem that I see is, is that her kit can be easily be powercrept. Like it wont age well into the future. You need to buff her stats every time the HP inflation increases, thats smth Hoyo wont probably do. Even an execute mechanic wont help much at that point. So in my opinion the actual problem is the resurgence buff u get upon killing an enemy. Currently we are blessed with the Erudition meta, thanks to that we get a ton of small mobs Seele can kill procing the buff and getting an imence dmg boost. It would be nice if there is a method to be able to uphold the buff in single target scenarios or another condition to get the buff. For example similar to Sunday. After you ult u get the buff for an amount of turns. U can stack the buff when ever you kill an enemy. So for example: If I ult I get 3 turns of the buff, every time its my turn the buff decreases by 1. But every time I am able to kill an enemy I get 1 more turn for the buff. Maximum is 3 turns. I think that would be a reasonable change.
      Well fck reason, I just want her to be OP. Let me execude mobs, get me a limitless next turn and 0 SP cost on her skill. Let her ult deal massive dmg and boost crit dmg by 500%.

    With all due respect, this is a nothingburger, anyone who has played Honkai Impact 3 remembers how it was handled, Void Drifter? Drive Kometa? they were buffed with Augment Core system, with it we only saw *two* 5 star battlesuits getting updated Fervent Tempo and Twilight paladin, and 5 more 4 star battlesuits aaaaaand that was it?(I know most of them were STORY related), then the Augmented Battlesuits had relevance for some small amount of patches (Except Drive Kometa which was busted), the buffing lasted until powercreep hits again, then they tried with weapons so some battlesuits like Vermillion Knight saw some use, then that too wasn't enough then they stopped Augment Cores and just release new Battlesuits weapons and stigmatas, Kiana HoV buff anyone? Hoyo is just talking for the sake of keeping ppl interested and perhaps roll on pre-2.0 banners but there's a VERY high chance your favorite chara won't get shit ever from hoyo.

      Augment cores were hurting monetization system.
      Powercreep keeps going(and tbh with P2 as of now it slowed down) because it's what whales want - they won't roll subpar characters. They don't do well in MA/Abyss. New characters should be highest-scoring at least somewhere.
      HSR is much more chill in that regard, it's Genshin 2.0, people were ready to roll because of story/appearance before shit hit the fan.

    I think, ultimately, the devs listening is a good thing. Because if these issues had been allowed to fester then the game would have been on set for an early demise sooner or later. Them listening is ultimate a good thing here no matter what, I just think we need to make sure they understand exactly what we want.
    For example the story of Amphoreus wasn't the problem, it's that the presentation should have been a bit smoother. The water sprite giving us a lore dump wasn't great. And I can't help but remember the first Amphoreus trailer and how good *it* would have been if it had been in the game in that moment. If it had the dialog for the lore be optional and perhaps had more dynamic animations or even still art instead of black screens I don't think people would have had a problem.
    But buffing older unites and promising the improve the gameplay is a great start.

      I agree on Amphoreus, the lore itself is so interesting, but the presentation doesn't just kill it, it absolutely, completely butchers and pulverizes it, i legit still haven't finished 3.0's story because of how bad and how much bloat there is, this is the first time i take this long to finish a story, even 2.6 banana story didn't take me this long

    4:23 as an Argenti haver. he really doesn’t need a buff. He can solo any PF with physical weakness just fine with an energy support like Bronya or Sunday- and even without them he can easily burst every turn with enough ER. I’m honestly surprised at how well he aged!

    Wont have high hopes. They tried 3 methods in HI 3rd, they're just ass short term band aid solution. The problem is their horrible balancing and powercreep, if it isn't addressed properly then their idea of "strenghtening old characters" would just suck ass. The bright side though, HSR doesn't have leaderboards so they should be able to do better job compared to HI 3rd.

      Yeah, even with those buffs in HI3rd, they still mostly just keep those old characters viable for one or two teams and for only about 2-3 patches where they have favorable boss/stage
      Especially so in Part 2 now where each new releases is a new meta, to the point a new character best team is all the recently released characters. The Divine Key and Astral Ring addition Part 1 valks get also only works for 1 particular team to fill in a slot

      their idea of "buffing" old characters are really just giving them more gears u have to spend money to pull or spend energy to grind (again) for decent substats. iirc the issue with gacha law is only when devs nerfs the characters later after release. i dont think it applies when the characters are getting buffed. so why are they so afraid to do so?
      so far the trend is almost right, with release of new supports and relics set that for some reason seems like perfectly tailored to address the issue of a certain general. if the hsr devs really went with new signature lightcones i think its time to give up on this company

    Normally I'm pragmatic about how a game dev would implement things, but this time I agree with you that a blanket formula based buff or age based buff just wont be very good since it's just as likely to cause as many problems as it will solve. I mean, just imagine if they just had a flat %-based buff favoring older characters, you'll end up with Ruan mei being buffed more than sparkle, which would be the most ridiculous thing ever. I have some older characters that I love using like Silver Wolf, Fu Xuan, Jingliu, and I actually really enjoy Argenti too when I can use him but honestly it's pretty hard to make good use of him now. But It's honestly Sparkle that I really feel like needs some good karma her way. They did her DIRTY by making e very dps after her release have mechanics that don't benefit from significant portions of her kit such as break dps not using crit at all, Acheron not being able to enjoy a harmony unless you have no sustain or e2 (and lets be honest, only whales were able to get sparkle AND acheron e2 with them being released so close together), Jade, who should have been great since she is quantum (oh, and btw, the ONLY other quantum character in 2.x), is a sub dps, and her thing being followups, therefore not really benefitting from action advance. IT's like all of 2.x was an intentional burn to sparkle.
    Sunday overshadowing her isn't even my gripe, it's like she was invited to a stage except she got a trapdoor in the basement to rot right on effing release. Meanwhile, ruan mei, who was out longer, kept getting more and more characters that fit her like a glove, as did Robin (though she came out after), Sparkle got NEGLECTED. People say Blade got forgotten, but dude at least got Jingliu after, and he's a dps to boot so it's expected that he is supposed to age faster. Sparkle was basically just a lifesupport for DHIL, but she never got anybody for her specifically minus Sunday, her grim reaper.
    Yeah, I want hand-tuned buffs to older characters, with a mix of some common sense because if She gets neglected for being too 'new' (since she's 2.x) but Ruan mei gets some benefits, I don't even know what to say, poor girl is CURSED.

    i need the game to do a "show, dont tell" model. thats why the game was so popular when it game out. the story was more concise and fluid. but had big set pieces and music that made the game feel good. and i need power creep to go away.

    One think I'd love to see is a rework of some techniques. Attacking techniques are inherently worse than their counterpart, so giving some characters non-attacking techniques (even if they keep the same effect) would be very nice. I think it's a small change that would help a lot. Also, techniques that increase DMG at the start of battle for 2-3 turns could also be changed to something more useful.

    Been playing since 1.0 and I've been accumulating Welt eidolons whenever I can get them. He's easily my favorite character from the early days and I just want him to finally have enough scaling to compete again/be given a more well defined niche. Currently you have to build so much effect hit rate to even function, which doesn't really leave any room to explore his break potential, and severely limits what he can do as a crit DPS. I'd love to see some sort of EHR to crit conversion in his kit, which could also free up enough stats for him to be a very potent hybrid crit/superbreak DPS.

    I have a feeling that they are going to give some Hunt unit's Blast attacks, reason being is that Erudition units get blast attacks, Aoe attacks, and Single Target attacks, and Destruction gets any/all of these, with Hunt getting, Single Target only? Like yeah I fully understand its a single target dps but to the point that bosses having summons kinda either make or break their kit😭😭

    Some reasonable(?) buffs I thought of for fun for characters to remain true to themselves while becoming better:
    SW: AoE Ult, Skill weakness implant type is guaranteed to be the team's first slot's element. IE if Fei Xiao is in the first slot, the implant will always be Wind
    Seele: bigger self buffs from skill to ramp up harder. If Ult defeats the enemy, regain 80-100% of max energy

    It's PRETTY obvious that they're only doing this because reruns aren't selling anymore and players are getting paranoid about pulling for fear that characters will become unusable over time.
    If I were to bet, they'll probably introduce some new piece of equipment that changes or adds a Talent to the character, and said piece of equipment will either require you to pull for it or farm some extremely limited resource.
    (Note: I and many others liked Natlan's story, just because it was a simpler story doesn't mean it was bad, and between a story that tries to be complex and fails in presentation and a simpler story that knows how to tell it, I'll take the simpler one)

    Personally, I don't like HSR having a simplistic story, it is more enjoyable to read a story with a core/ message within, makes it less shallow. BUT HSR's story telling presentation is so bad that devs need a lot of work and adjustment to make the story readable.

    I love HSR a lot and I am bery happy about this chance. I am not a rich person myself so i never paid for anything, but my motivation in games are usually always the new characters. Which is something HSR has and not Genshin. Genshin realses 1 new character in a patch or 2 and leaves it as that... Which makes it really boring for me and kills my motivation on "Why am I even farming for if there is no mew characters?"

    after watching, that list you put together in under five minutes about who needs the buffs, was actually pretty accurate. Also, im with you on the story of Amphoreus. The story itself was amazing. As was the lore and how the world was built. The problem was how they executed the telling of it. Too many Black screens and white text, and the part with Aglaea, doing her Golden thread thing to you in the bath. Despite the picture they used being very pretty (which i screen shotted btw), shouldve been animated as that was a very serious introduction to Aglaea and wouldve show cased her character more. Looking back on previous worlds, Penacony and the Loufu, just about everything was animated. Like the memoryzone meme "killing" firefly. that was animated and basically framed on a wall. Sure those worlds had Black screen white text too, but it was no where near as much as it is here. SHOW US whats going on, this way we dont have literally try and imagine whats being said and it ends up being inaccurate anyway.

    Even if they do actually go through with and actively buff older characters they're still not going to be top tier. The newer units will still be superior to use and it will eventually just get back into the same issues with the older units falling behind into obscurity again.
    Star Rail will have to constantly keep going back to buff older units to keep them usable compared to the newer characters

      This. Also idk why people are hung up on hp increase = powercreep. The game is completely different from what it was over a year ago. The lowered cycle limit, granted grit system, etc. Its not just the hp inflation that's actually the issue. Its that the new characters specifically harmony characters that make older characters rip current day content to shreds. If they made every character or comp even in performance, we'll just get the same song and dance with genshin meta. There is literally no winning with people who simply can't be satisfied with one thing or the other.

      Hi3 power creep is still an issue though, divine keys only apply to Herrschers, and as you said, augment cores have been obsolete for years now. Part 2 astral ring is also an issue as units that released mere months before part 2 (FoV, HoRB, Luna) have been severely impacted by astral ring power creep because they simply don’t have it. Also there’s the fact that not a single “free” unit has been dropped since part 2’s release, which is absolutely INSANE.

      @ I’m coping HARD for a FoV Divine key, but considering PX was a support and FoV is a dps, I doubt they’ll bring her back. Luna is still used in bleed content, and considering she’s both a support and a dps (plus the fact she’s a fan favourite) it makes the most sense she would get a divine key out of the non-herrschers. It’s been nearly an entire year since Coralie and Helia were released and THEY’RE THE ONLY FREE PART 2 UNITS???? WHAT THE HELL HOYO.
      Honestly, hi3 seems rather dead nowadays, even that one top player in SEA stopped posting anything other than newer bosses. If Hua gets a new battlesuit, I’ll start playing again, but for now I’m just gonna stay away from the game for now.

    Though it may be weird to implement, one way they could buff characters is through artifacts. To those of you who play dragon ball legends, you’d know what a unique equipment is. That’s kinda what I’m thinking could happen. They could add a whole new artifact set that could even be 6-pieced, and make them character exclusive. That’s just an idea that I doubt would happen, though.

    They still have a buff system in hi3rd in divine key which honestly isn't as good as augment since it's basically pulling a new weapon but is somewhat mitigated by fact that divine key pity is 60/50 pulls and f2p crystals is decent.
    Ideally a system like fgo is the most ideal scenario

    I really hope they include the standard banner characters with these buffs. Besides wanting a silver wolf buff, I'd love to see Gepard to get some extra utility like the limited preservation units offer. Something like a buff or cleanse would be amazing for his kit

    seele is still one of my favorite characters and i WILL get her lc if they make her and the mono quantum team decent enough to use in apoc mainly. just make seele get resurgence when there's a weakness break (+ increase scalings ofc), make sw aoe like she was in that stellaron hunter battle we recently had, make sparkle's buffs bigger (give her a cr buff or something idk) and fu xuan... she doesn't need to do much, just make her more tanky ig? 😭 or maybe her ult could heal more since that would really come in clutch. her 15% cr buff is still nice but i can't bring myself to use her

    I do hope they adapt something like the module system in arknights. I really love HSR's gameplay and if older characters can be relevant to the current meta, then I hope we can have more diverse teams.

    Same. It's great that they're LISTENING but the fact remains to be seen whether they are actually UNDERSTANDING and not just tone deaf because they could make changes that literally nobody asked for and just aren't good OR they could make the greatest improvements imaginable.

    i think it'll be more accurate to compare these older char buffs to new best stigmas/divine keys in hi3 since it is the system they implement instead of aug cores. yes, cores were abandoned, but new system came around to buff older valks (and i think this new key/craftable stigma model worked better than cores tbh)
    not very optimistic, but not very pessimistic either about these news, time will tell if hoyo will make us happy or disappointed

      I don't agree with Hi3rd system being a good example to use as reference as both the Augment Cores and Divine Key+Stigma requires us to spend premium currency to get them.
      We don't need more things to spend when new characters are still coming, whereas the old characters even when buffed definitely still won't be able to compare. If they want to implement this buff, make it free and tied to in game progression to unlock and obtain it

      and even though i find new hi3 system with new keys more interesting (only in hi3 i must admit) i understand that it cannot be used as a reference for star rail old unit buff system
      i think they can only take that "new animation for ult/skill and bonus effects/bonus abilities" part of divine keys buffing system and make it achievable through some kind of activity (challenge, friendship cap or something like this) that doesn't require us to pay

    When it comes to the "blackscreen white text" and "standing around talking" problem, I feel the Yakuza and/or Like a Dragon games balance it perfectly between, in my opinion, four different types of scenes:
    1) The extreme high quality movie like important parts
    2) Important dialogue with characters in varying poses and animation
    3) Quality images for flashbacks (it doesn't have to be strictly for flashbacks)
    4) The non important text where characters just stand and have their mouths move
    HSR does 1 and 4 already, sparsely does 3 (e.g. end of Dan Heng and Bailu quest), and I have not noticed 2. I understand trying to do these four points would take a lot more animation and work, but I feel it would greatly enhance the experience while playing. In regards to point 2, I think that would immerse us into the world and characters better. Like when characters are having a tea party, we should see them sitting and drinking tea. However, if the trailblazer does some dumpster diving, instead of a blackscene and text, we should just get a "simple image" or two of them in a trashcan or whatever.
    Ehh, I am just rambling at this point. I hope the message got across. A little more showing and a little less telling/describing.

    Well, they could also follow one of honkai impact mechanics of buff. In Hi3rd, some characters (5 starts) got a new set of skills and abillities (through weapons and "artifacts", but the artifacts are exclusive for the character (hard to work on others), and have really long buffs, different from GI, HSR and ZZZ. Also the weapon is a 4 star, but that would be hard to actually work)

    One of the problems with the story the way I see it is that, they are pretty much putting everything all in one place that you have to go through, whereas in other games you got the gist of it and then the sidequests and lore books usually filled out the rest of the details. You have to get through everything just to finish whereas I think most quests should be more like an action movie where things constantly happen and then give people the ability to replay the quests so you can just enjoy it at anytime.
    Lore can be placed in modes where lore is applicable, maybe spruse up the library a bit and make it actually interesting to go in and interact with the lore, you could voice the lore in Dan Hengs room and have little animations that slightly move to depict what is being said.

    I think that one thing that does quell some of my worries about this buff for old players is the devs for HSR and ZZZ have shown that they care about the community. They have a past record of doing things that the community has asked for before like the free 5 star character for being nominated for the game awards and other such things. Which shows that they have taken note of the communities voice. So I do believe that the HSR devs will do well with this. Please note how I said the devs and not Hoyoverse. Cause the Genshin community has been suffering and I can not blame them for how they feel

    Tbf Honkai Impact's Augment Core buff system was the *old* method of buffing characters, like *years* old. A more recent example that still sees use is PRI-Arms (ascending weapons from the usual 50 to 65, with more cracked effects), and even more recently, *new* signature weapons and signature Stigmata (relic equivalent) that allow Part 1 characters to use the Part 2 mechanics.
    Honestly I can see the Star Rail branch doing something similar to the latter method: They release a new signature LC and/or Relic set that has "If [specific character] is equipping this, then [exclusive effect] is granted". The former plays into their bottom line cuz gacha, while the latter incentivizes farming, thus potentially increasing player count and retention.

    Himeko does work well and I don't mind if they increase her damage, for me however it's just her Break Point limit needs to overflow like Jade's points for her follow up. Breaking 4 or more enemies in a single attack hurts my soul since Himeko doesn't get the excess points.

    4:48 Well in hi3 yes they abandoned the augment core system but instead they later did the "divine key" system wich also boost and changes some unit gameplays making them playable again in those updates.

    My main problem with older characters is that they are not THAT weak; their kit isn't really useful against new types of enemies.
    For example, My E2 Seele is still the best for daily, against weekly? Unless the enemy has quantum weakness, it's a no-go, considering break meta and everything else they added to the game, newer characters are just way too advantages to old characters, remember when 100k+ is considered BIG damage? yeah, Acheron and Firefly can do so much while the other character need a lot to work with.
    Still hoping they indeed strengthen older characters, this include not limited to their kit, or base stats, but Eidolons too, I build so many E2 that ended up not going so hot after 2.1

    Divine Keys
    Pretty much new signature equipment for some S Rank valks, new weapon and new stigmata set
    For example, now in Part 2, there's a mechanic called Astral Ring that is mych cheaper and stronger to build around, and only Part 2 valks can use it, so every part 1 valk got pushed out
    To counteract that, twice now (once in 7.8, and now in the upcoming 8.1) they've added Divine keys for popular old valks which bring them from deadge asf to some of the best in the game

      but the base kits of the valks remains unchanged. they just sell u the bandaid that u have pull and raise their levels to priarms, which also requires quite a bit of materials and farming

    buff old character in 3.0-4.0 just to get powercreept again in 4.1-5.0
    we all know hoyo drills lol, secretly buff enemy hp. Also buff old character in game not even 2yrs old yet is a sign very bad powercreept. Most game took 5-10yrs buff old unit

    as a dr ratio main, i think honestly he should be in line for buffs later down the line. he got directly powercrept by feixiao and has so much clunkiness in his kit (fuas aren't guaranteed, getting his burst is slow regularly, awful at switching between targets, etc) and i often see him being left out of the conversation when discussing powercreep. he feels A LOT worse to use than he did at release, while other characters from the same era like argenti are still finding combat niches and usability in other teams. ratio is SO restrictive on team choices that he's very difficult to use and his damage and qol suffers immensely without the handful of characters that DO work with him. i wanna keep playing my silly chalk boy so the LEAST hyvs can do is rerun him so i can get his lightcone and his e1 if im lucky

    While HoYo did drop augment cores in Honkai Impact more recently a few older characters ( Kiana HoFi and Herrscher of Sentience) got new equipment that brought them up to a more modern standard. They are still buffing some characters in Honkai.

    Based on Hoyo, they will likely drip feed improvements even when the acknowledge it. Like it will eventually get there but it will always be a slow and bare minimum improvement over time. It's almost like them seeing whether or not it is enough to satiate the players without giving them the full fix.

    I hope that they increase the characters kits into a newer version so every character is meta like in wuwa and maybe make it so older characters are able to support each other better as a old vs new meta it would also be cool to see endgame modes that are designed for older characters like maybe a game mode made for older characters like a character spotlight made for them rewarding 400 jades a month but they would only run two of the spotlights at a time like for silver wolf they could make it so her debuffs are 2x stronger

    I hope these buffs aren't just flat stat boosts. Blade being able to hold onto his extra stacks lime Xueyi. Kafka getting a new dedicated support. Gepard having his talent reworked. Arlan performing just like how he did in the beta. Best girl March 7th gets anything at this point

    Rappa felt like the most complete story patch in the game and should have been the standard for future patches. They weren't trying to pad out the story to fill X patches and just told a complete one in a single patch. Too bad most people hated it for some reason.
