Lenovo shouldn't treat the ThinkPad brand as a meaningless marketing vehicle. If you want to copy the MacBook design straight, just create a new brand.
They do have another series though, that's the Z series which tries to compete against macbook. Those have all aluminum body, pressure touch trackpad and efficient hardware (full AMD). I just don't understand why they have to release this generic-looking laptop when they could just be unique in design like they used to be
What? Thinkpad without trackpoint? I’m very dissapointed. Lenovo, what are you doing with your thinkpad brand? Why the thinkpad we love was disappeared? The Thinkpad Laptop which have easy upgradable/ replaceable hardware, the awesome keyboard, the durable design ,where are they? PLEASE REMEMBER THAT THINKPAD IS NOT MACBOOK!
@@iuploadmedia on most models the physical buttons vs haptic trackpad is an option. We're still buying the button trackpad on the X13 2in1, T14s Gen 5, X1 Carbon Gen 12.
@@ryan2011 yeah, but idk about this one... I'm guessing since they are going for the generic simple look for this MacBook, they would not have trackpad buttons. I mean they alr removed the trackpoint
I wouldn’t call this a ThinkPad without the ThinkPad brand identity, like say black-red colors or a TrackPoint for that matter. This just looks like any other generic notebook. Especially the missing TrackPoint stings quite a bit.
What the hell are you doing Lenovo? You removed all of the ThinkPad from the ThinkPad. People buy ThinkPads for the TrackPoint, the color, the red theme and the functional design. No one wanted this from you. Also since when has ThinkPad been focused on sports and video editing? Complete and utter miss from the design and the marketing department.
being a user of ThinkPad X series for over 17 years I can say: there is NO WAY I will buy that notebook. Aluminum and no TrackPoint!!! NO THANKS... will stay using my X1 Carbon until will not work more, maybe 17 years more...
I guess it is Thinkbook bur come with a ThinkPad brand as there are some fan weigh this brand much and willing to pay for it.Other than this point, it is just a Thinkbook X14/15, or basically an Apple's Macbook Air copycat. Yep, it will follow Apple up with even battery life due to LNL+80Wh battery
Congratulations on losing thousands of people's trust in your brand and removing all the personality and identity of it! This is surely a great change that will help you stand out from all of the current ultrabooks!😊 Edit: I also find it funny how other Lenovo laptops like the Yogas and IdeaPads basically copied the ThinkPad keyboard, yet the ThinkPad is the first to overhaul their keyboard. I wonder if the Yogas and IdeaPads follow suit with this new, very creative and unique keyboard design.
If there is no way to add Thunderbolt 5 ports to those devices that are with the new Intel Core Ultra chips that has discrete Thunderbolt 5 support just give us at least the Occulink port that was introduced in the Thinkbook last year
Thank you for reaching out to Lenovo Customer Support! At this time, we can’t confirm specific details about Thunderbolt 5 support in Lenovo’s 2025 devices. However, we continuously strive to integrate the latest technologies into our products to provide the best user experience. Intel’s introduction of discrete Thunderbolt 5 support in the new Core Ultra chips is certainly exciting, and we are closely monitoring advancements in hardware connectivity. For updates on our upcoming devices and features, we recommend keeping an eye on our official website and announcements. What an insult to the people who've still been supporting this brand after the - - 40 series. If I want a macbook I'd buy a macbook not a thinkpad. But I want a thinkpad, not this rubbish. Shame on Lenovo and the Thinkpad team that worked on this.
this is not a really really real thinkpad like my T410 where is the red trackpoint ? and maybe the build quality on this new X9 laptop is not like my T410 😒
worst designed ThinkPad ever, even the Z series is better. I hope it only stays for only one generation before Lenovo realizes that the X9 is a bad idea
@papagen00 have you even used a thinkpad? It's unbeatable(although debatable now) when it comes to build, upgradeability, screens and performance. Especially for people in IT
Trackpoint is meant for heavy typers. Not having to move your hands to navigate when typing is incredibly convenient. Once you get used to it you just can't go back. Besides some models have easily replaceable keyboards. Why doesn't lenovo give the customer the choice if whether they want a trackpoint or not, similar to how there are keyboards with and without backlight?

@@vintagewander Z series is dead
They could have made this a Thinkbook or even a Yoga product. Making it a Thinkpad is ridiculous. Let's hope that no one buys this
Hi, Any news on Thinkbook 16P models for 2025?
"bringing together legendary ThinkPad design" where ???
What? Thinkpad without trackpoint?

I'm mad about the removal of the physical track pad buttons, I use those all the time.

L moment, Lenovo. You shouldn't treat the Thinkpad branding like that.
Cool MacPad! #stopX9
It's ThinkBook , No trackpoing

Jesus, it’s just an addition to the lineup. The other thinkpads haven’t been scrapped.

Guess my next laptop will be a framework
For your own sake, keep the trackpoint! By removing it, you are getting red of a signature feature and, thus, diluting the Thinkpad brand.
trackpointless thinkpad aint a thinkpad
All these haters but I'm glad this is the Cheapest way I can get my mitts on a Lunar Lake machine...people are totally missing the point of this!
this is not a ThinkPad it doesn't even have the TrackPoint just call it a yoga

Nice IdeaPad
old colors,. no black?
never have I seen a thinkpad this generic-looking in my entire life, it has been a great run
I prefer you go for Yoga design than Thinkpad, Thinkpad already had his own legacy

ill skip intel & go for amd. ill skip this thinkpad series as it looks the same like thinkbook + no track point.
Fake pad
It's great stop with the cope. I've had a thinkpad and never used the track point and nobody in my office
then why the hack would you get a thinkpad if you don't use trackpoint
