Why does this exist?!?!?! People who want a more "modern" device should buy from Lenovo's Yoga line. Thinkpads are for those who want to make a statement against modern design choices. This laptop just . . . shouldn't exist.
I'm younger than you and have nostalgia for the trackpoint. Hell, I'm a fairly regular user of it to this day. It's surprisingly effective when used in certain games over a trackpad for navigation (it allows for more precise and quicker control), and I prefer it when I'm stuck in a cramped lecture hall for my classes (it's more comfortable to use in that situation than a trackpad, as I can lay my wrist relatively flat instead of having it arched at a weird angle). Yes, the trackpad has its time and place, but so does the trackpoint. It's why my current laptop is a Thinkpad, and as long as it still has the trackpoint, so will my next one.
Since you're there at the show, tell the Lenovo guys that the camera notch sucks on each and every laptop and we're not going to buy any of those if they don't get rid of it.
it literally looks like a space black macbook pro 14 and a macbook air 15 from the inside. If i want a macbook i'll get a macbook. as an apple user im looking at windows laptops for their uniqueness instead of apples simplicity. you can be business oriented without being simple. look at the xps 13 plus. the moment windows laptops start trying to copy the macbooks they fall flat on their face cuz they just can't compare in terms of reliable build quality, speakers, trackpad, resale value, etc. Lenovo if ur reading this, double down on your classic design. people who look at lenovo aren't looking for a macbook wanabe temu version. they're looking for a modular, soft touch, matte black laptop with a damn red nipple at the center. and no, no one wants RGB or overkill processors with rtx 5070 that require 200 watts vapor cooling. make it dust proof and drop proof and industrial. black and red, just the way i like it
Just because you can go thinner doesn't mean you should go thinner, how many designs are awful with thermal management before being pretty is better than being practical.
Id much prefer a plastic case/chassis. Cheaper? Sure, but less prone to dents and bends than say the aluminum body. Maybe a composite chassis for structure? This falls and hits a floor? Bent and dinged to hell. Plastic? Ehh, its fine.
@@randipoling635 older ThinkPads used a magnesium frame on the inside and glass/carbon fiber reinforced plastic on the outside, some of the most durable laptops ever behind the toughbook and dell rugged extreme and such
being a user of ThinkPad X series for over 17 years I can say: there is NO WAY I will buy that notebook. Aluminum and no TrackPoint!!! NO THANKS... will stay using my X1 Carbon until will not work more, maybe 17 years more...
Brand power is knowing what you're going to get when you buy one. Trying to ride off the brand, as Lenovo is doing here, is going to ruin the brand. This and the Z series should be under a different brand name. Fingernail arrow keys for the sake of looks is a bad idea. Same with centring the touchpad to the palmrest instead of to the G and H keys. What would have saved this is if it were modular: the bottom bump can be swapped out for a new planar/CPU/etc. PS. All ThinkPads (maybe not E and L) should come with GaN chargers... although I'm not sure how well USB-C charging works with 135W/170W.
A hot mess, they shouldn't name it "Thinkpad", not even Thunderbolt 5. Hope the other 2025 models come with the more traditional carbon fiber and TB5 available.
Disgusting. No Trackpoint, flat shitty Macbook like keyboard..why the hell would I ever buy crap like this? It removes all the reasons to choose Thinkpad over other laptops
is anyone interested in an unrepairable retail laptop in business ? Do companies need another chip spying on your usage and data ? Just put unix / linux on it as ms bows out of any involvement in operating systems?
OMG, this is exactly the ThinkPad I was hoping / wishing for. Relax guys , there are plenty of "traditional" ThinkPads on the markets, X1 Carbon. However I recently purchased a Yoga Slim7x with X Elite and I love it, coming from generations of X1 Carbon's. The X9 is very tempting to switch back to X86, not sure I want to go back to Intel.... What do you guys think?
It sounds like you want a ThinkPad because ThinkPads are cool. Making models like this won't continue ThinkPad's coolness, so why don't you just buy something else to begin with?
I dont buy something because it‘s „cool“ otherwise I would buy a Mac 😂. Thinkpads in general have a fantastic keyboard and are reliable and offer great fast service.
I'll be the outlier... I love this, and I just ordered one. I don't need the nipple. I have a 120hz OLED touchscreen and haptic touchpad. Do I really need another touch input? No. It's also super slim AND comes with a new GaN charger!?
No Red Nipple and no trackpad button means no thanks.
I can say Nipple but Haptic touchpad is already an option in ThinkPad T14, Z and X1 Carbon.
Same here! 💪
😂
@@hoangnguyenminh9594 is the haptic touchpad in the P14s also?
Ah yes, the new IdeaPad X9, so when's the 2025 ThinkPad coming out?
No TrackPoint? Not a real ThinkPad.
The red nipple is what kept me from switching to Framework. Guess it's time to move on..
It is not a Thinkpad so it is no longer worth buying unless it is the cheapest.

This is ThinkBook, not ThinkPad
Why call it a 'ThinkPad'?
something to really "Think" about

this need to be stopped
3:57 With the connectivity. That is a USB A port we're seeing right? Just wasn't mentioned
They misspelled ThinkBook

No trackpoint? So it's a reskinned acer or asus...same vibe, different logo
looks like grey colored exterior.. anything in black?
Is the screen extremely reflective and glossy like their other laptops?
Dude I am your age and I have nostalgia for the Track Point... What are you talking about... Are we your parents age 🥲🥲🥲

I thought with the new intel chips, ram is always integrated?
Someone in the marketing: We need to copy MacBook Pros, and this happened:
Lenovo gotta get rid of those camera bumps on your laptops looks terrible.
The ram on thinkpads has been soldered on (all models) for years
See the P1 and P16. P1 has two slots. I think P16 has four.
Edit// Oops, latest P1 has an LPCAMM2 "slot".
Why is this a thing when there's the Yoga line to directly compete with Macbooks?
YOU DIDNT TALK ABOUT THE WEB CAMERA? COME OOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOON!
the arrow keys (o_0) I'am having hard attack
I think you mean "heart attack", rather than a "hard (on) attack", which would be something very different 😀.
The red trackpad is an iconic symbol of ThinkPad's. Imagine if Apple removed the logo from its MacBooks or iPhones.
Lenovo don't understand Thinkpad had a very hardcore fans, major change just gonna loose it....
Lenovo should make the trackpad an option,

Great idea to water down the brand identity. Still much better than what Dell is offering, sadly.
This is definitely a thinkbook! 💯💯💯 Imposter Thinkpad
The least ThinkPad ever so far! But honestly, have you heard Z series? :D
I like it tbh
Not a thinkpad, just a rebranded thinkbook.
