🫶🏽. Thank you for being a friend, for such a thoughtful and kind video, and for tagging me.
Thank you for being such a good friend, dear Mariandrea! ❤️
Something I have discovered about the channels I follow is that I discovered them for the books but stayed for the people, every time.
Thank you, dear Helen. I’m so glad you found me! ❤️
Thank you for the tag my lovely friend. Wonderful answers to these fabulous prompts. What hasn’t changed is your lovely, welcoming, inclusive manner, your honest reviews and your kindness to other booktubers. I think you’re great and I love your channel 😊
Oh Debs, you must help me to plan my revenge, er, I mean, my response to Dave. 😉 Thank you for this lovely comment! You are such a dear friend, and I’m so thankful for you! 🥰
@@BookChatWithPat8668 whatever I can do to help, count me in 😁
You’re a great example of what a person can do with a BookTube channel. Even if you have only been here less than a year.
Oh my goodness! Thank you, Greg, for this lovely comment. This means a great deal to me. 🥰
Your advice for fledgling BookTubers is spot on. I launched my channel in January of this year. I often feel discouraged when I look at my subscriber (or lack of) subscriber numbers. Then I remember how many friends I've made in the community, and that is what really matters. Thank you so much for tagging me. Your videos always bring me joy!
@@literarylove123 thank you, Jen, for this lovely comment. I’m so glad we’ve met here. I try to keep my focus on the community, on the relationships we’re building. They are the most important things about this whole experience. ❤️
Beautiful thoughts and reflections on your BookTube journey Pat! I agree, the new friendships I’ve made on here is absolutely the best part of doing this. There is such a feeling of welcomeness and belonging that I have not felt in other groups of people in my life and I absolutely adore everyone that I watch and who comes to watch my videos. I am glad you’re having such a wonderful time with this hobby and I wish you so many more good memories with new friends and amazing new (and old!) books to talk about. :-)
Thank you for this lovely comment, Farrah. You and your channel are among the very best parts of my BookTube experience. You have been kind and welcoming to me from Day 1. I’m so glad we’ve met here. ❤️
@@BookChatWithPat8668 thank you! I’m glad too 🥰
@@bookstalgic 🥰
Buon giorno from Positano! I am so glad you're here, Pat. (On Booktube, not the Amalfi Coast…although how cool would that be?) You have certainly evolved in the short time I have been subscribed and are one of my very favorite follows. Ciao!
Thank you, my dear friend! I hope you are having a wonderful trip! It would indeed be so cool to be there too! Hopefully, my next trip…I hope you are having an incredible time.
@@BookChatWithPat8668😘
Almost nine months have passed already? That apparently goes fast when I enjoy something as much as I enjoy your channel. You make BookTube and the world better places to be, Pat. ❤
@@heathersmusic8833 oh Heather, this is such a lovely thing to say. Thank you. Thank you for being here. I appreciate your support and your lovely comments. ❤️
I like your answers to this tag. This is one tag that I am looking forward to doing. Thank you, for tagging me.
@@JessBookgirlTV thanks, Jess! I’ll look forward to your version! I hope you’re doing well.
The learning curve is steep in those first few months so it's not too soon to reflect on your evolution! Thanks for the tag.
@@readandre-read thanks, Angelia. I know you have a big backlog of tags, as do I, but I wanted you to know I was thinking of you as I put this one together. 🥰
You offer wonderful advice to your book tube community. As just a viewer, I very much enjoy your posts. ❤
Thank you so much, Vicki! I so appreciate you and your lovely comments. I’m very grateful. 🥰
Great words of wisdom Pat. I really admire the work you do here on Booktube and how engaged you are. 😊
@@TheLibraryMouseGina awww…thank you, Gina, for such kind words. I’ll look forward to your responses to this tag if you decide to do it. No pressure, though.
I know you still feel new, but to me you’ve always been an old soul, booktube-wise, and I mean that in the very best way. You’re one of the creators that inspired me to take that next step and begin commenting and interacting in more meaningful ways at the beginning of this year. Your thoughtful and fun presence was too much to resist! Can’t wait to join you in celebrating your first booktube anniversary. 😊
Oh Patricia! You bring tears to my eyes. Thank you for being such a central part of this whole experience. I’m so grateful for you and your thoughtful responses. ❤️
Fabulous responses, Pat 😊And thanks for the tag - you'll find that a fair few of my responses when I do the tag will mirror yours! Especially how BookTube has broadened my reading across so many genres I never thought I'd enjoy so much (science fiction I'm looking at you... 😉). I love that you've ended up not only trying some horror thanks to BookTube, but also found some you really enjoyed. I do hope you manage to find a way to share your love of poetry that doesn't attract the trolls - shorts are weird like that in general, I think. I know your videos on poems have inspired others to write their own too, which is wonderful.
I can't believe it's only been about 8 months that you've been part of the BookTube community! It sort of feels like you've always been here! You're such a valued member of the community, and a great ambassador for what books and reading can bring to our lives - I look forward to many more book chats with Pat in the future! 🥰
Thank you, dear Alex, for this lovely response. I have not abandoned poetry. I just have to figure out how to include it in the channel in a meaningful way that will not subject me to trolls. You are absolutely right, though, that the "shorts" format does seem to attract an entirely different kind of viewer, and not necessarily people who care in the least about literature. Thank you for saying such lovely things about my presence here in this community. I feel the same way about you. You bring such joy to this whole enterprise, and I've loved watching your explorations into different genres too.
Ooooh I like this tag!!! Thx for the tag Pat. This could be fun ! We love your channel and can’t wait to see what you do next ! Sorry for the negative interactions ! Shake em off!
@@BookBuds thank you! I love your channel too.
Thanks for tagging me! Not sure I have much more to add to the discussion, but I'll give it a shot. Shorts are SO WEIRD! (Or I should say viewers of shorts) All my not so nice comments have come from shorts, but thankfully only a handful. I think you should just do a poetry series, once a month or something, and dive deep into your favorite poems. Hopefully you won't get trolls but attract people truly interested in poetry. I don't know. And I must say, even though you are still newbie-ish, you have set yourself up as a definite leader in this booktube community! Way to go! Your advice is spot on! After two years I still need to hear it all.
Thanks, Suey. I agree that the shorts just seem to attract an entirely different audience, and not necessarily one interested in literature at all. You are right that I should just go back to featuring some of my favorite poets every now and then. I thought it was a little premature for me to be doing an "evolution" tag, but I was delighted to be tagged in Jack's original video, and in Aaron Facer's, so I thought I'd give it a go. I didn't want to be presumptuous in giving advice when I'm so new at this myself. But I guess my goals have definitely become solidified over these past few months. No pressure about this tag, or any tag. I just wanted you to know that I was thinking of you, and you've just reached a big milestone too! 🥰
I so admire your generous, kind & affirmative tone of voice. Shorts with poetry generate trolls & hate-speech, (what is going on there?), despairingly incomprehensible... Thanks for another very enjoyable video, I have much to ponder, stay strong & creative.
Thank you so much, Phillip, for this lovely comment and for your kind and thoughtful presence. I’m so glad we’ve met here.🥰
@@BookChatWithPat8668: thanks.
Love this video Pat, lovely to hear about your journey so far. I’m so sorry you’ve been exposed to unkindness, I hope you can find a way to share your love of poetry. You’re one of my favourite booktubers and I always have an inward smile when I log on and see there’s a video from you. Hope you’re feeling better!
Awww…thank you so much for watching and for leaving me such a kind and lovely comment! I appreciate YOU! 🥰
This is a great tag. Your love of poetry has rekindled my love of poetry, so thank you. I'm sorry about the problems you had with the shorts, I hope you will still keep sharing poetry on your channel ❤
@@Bryndisdaugtherofgunnar thank you, Bryndis. I’ll keep at it.
I’m so happy to see this Pat! It’s such a shame about the poetry shorts. Funnily enough my biggest issues with comments come from shorts perhaps because they reach a wider audience and attract a wider range of people. Makes me reluctant to post them sometimes which I really need to work against because most people are lovely and I can just block and not engage with trolls. Working on it! I am so glad that you’re here in this community and absolutely loved your thoughts to the prompts! Thank you for doing this ❤
Hi Jack! Thank you again for tagging me. I loved doing this video even if I’ve had a pretty short evolution. Yes, you’re right about shorts. I think my poetry shorts were just reaching a bunch of people with zero interest in poetry or books or anything literary. I did a few shorts from around literary sites in Ireland, and only one attracted an inappropriate response. Thank you for being so lovely and so welcoming to me! 🥰
Oh wow, 8 months and over 1,8 K subscribers already, that's great progress. Congratulations.
Thank you!
Thanks for tagging me and i really enjoyed hearing about what you have learned in 9 months on BookTube (and why, oh why, do the trolls come out for poetry????)
@@awebofstories thanks, Melinda! I think the trolls were coming out for shorts, and mine just happened to be on poetry! It’s a whole different audience, I think. Oh well. Live and learn. I hope you’re feeling better now. I was really knocked down too. Ugh.
Wonderful video as always 😊 I think your advice is very valuable, even as a (kind of) newbie. People with more experience usually forget what worries and stumbles they had in the very beginning, and no one can explain those things better than the newbies.
I would also add that it helps to be as inviting as you are. I think everyone who watches your videos feel seen and included by you, you have a very special way of speaking directly to the viewer even through a camera. I think sometimes people are so focused on the algorithm and the numbers, that they forget they are talking to people, that there’s always a human on the other side. But it never feels that way when watching your videos, you stay human and that is such a strength.
Thank you for tagging me! I’m practicing the less pressure thing (if technology is your weakness, that’s mine!), but I hope to get some tags done soon! 😊
Ellen, thank you for this lovely comment. You certainly make me feel seen and very appreciated, and I am so grateful for that and for you! ❤️
Shorts are weird. They often hit a more random crowd than long form videos and I think in the process they expose you to a less kind group of people.
@@BookishTexan oh that is absolutely true, Brian. I don’t have a thick enough skin for that!
Thanks for tagging me. I love your answers. Shorts have never done it for me as a viewer. I watch them occasionally. But I am not really a fan. I want longer discussions of books. I know people say we should do shorts. But I don't really have any intention of doing so.
You are wise. I loved the short poetry series, but the aggravation it caused me made it not worth it.
Somehow I have not seen this one, great tag.and amazing to see how much can change in a short time, don't always realise until you take a step back
Thanks, Ven. I have tagged you on this one, if you’re so inclined.
Odd the tag didn't flag on my notifications, guess YT is being YT again lol. I might do this for my 2 year channel birthday at the end of November, feels like a sitting point 🫶
@vens_corner I don’t always get notified either, but then I find that I’ve been tagged when I go to “Mentions” in the YT Studio. I find them there.
@@BookChatWithPat8668 I always forget their is a mentions tab in their, notifications are set that it should prod me for mentions but nothing is perfect. I may need to go check my mentions tab itself though 🤔
I’m always surprised by “mentions” that I find there that I don’t recall being notified about. 😊
Congrats on your meteoric success, Pat. Wish I could give you some armor against the trolls but I guess that will be your own thing to figure out. Because I'm so hip and cool, I will quote Kris Kristofferson to Sinead O'Connor (RIP to both of them): "Don't let the bastards get you down."
@@troytradup thanks, Troy. I try to keep the bastards at bay. I just don’t have a very thick skin, and I probably can’t change that at this point in the game…
@@BookChatWithPat8668 Maybe you need to do some standup comedy open mic nights -- build up those heckler resistance muscles! 😁
@@troytradup mmm not a bad idea but probably not going to happen either! 😉
I'm kinda addicted on watching videos about books. I really love. My channel is more about journals than books but I'm reading more. By and by I gonna share more readings. In portuguese, haha.
I’ll look for a translation, then! 😊
I don’t usually write comments but I am making an exception. I am so happy that I found your channel and I will be watching even though I probably won’t comment. I bet you were a most loved teacher and what did you teach?
@@GwenOgle-ky8nr thank you for this lovely comment! I’m so glad you found me too. I taught high school English for almost 40 years. I taught every grade, but for the last 12 or 15 years, I taught mostly seniors in high school in four different courses. I also taught a writing course for grades 9-12. Thanks again for watching and for leaving me such thoughtful words.
I don’t understand how people can be unkind about such a joyous subject as books.I’m sorry that you were exposed to that as you seem such a nice person.
@@nonisnest9718 aww thank you so much. I just think it’s that “shorts” go to a totally different audience and not necessarily to people who are interested in literature. And people feel free to say really ugly stuff in comments there.
Your shorts haven’t been bad - not any of the ones from Ireland too. They collect a broader viewership I think.
They absolutely do-and sometimes that broader viewership is not in the least bit interested in literature. I got really obscene responses on several occasions that had nothing to do with what was in the short video. I don’t need that.
