Sinatra is a pure legend. His ability to use body language, voice inflection to convey a song are almost unmatched in music history. That era had perhaps the greatest songwriters ever and everyone wrote songs for Sinatra. Among his many contemporaries he was revered. No one, except maybe Tony Bennett, could interpret a song any better. Not known by many people is the fact that he was at the forefront when it came to desegregate Las Vegas hotels, restaurants and nightclubs. He refused to play at hotels on the strip that did not allow black guests. He received a lifetime achievement award from the NAACP. Polo, hope to see more of Francis Albert Sinatra on the channel. I Don't know if you will actually read this comment I've been a long time listener/viewer of your UA-cam channel, yes I am subscribed, I've sent many a requ3sts to hundreds upon hundreds of reaction channels, If you dig Sinatra please I beg you 😅 do a reaction of Bobby Darin's "Mack the Knife" anyways when I think of gangster I think of this song plus it used to be my karaoke song Sinatra covered this song Louis Armstrong even covered it as well as s3veral several others. FYI have you heard the song splish splash? After you listen to mack the knife Darin wrote both of them

One of the best performances I’ve seen of Sinatra was him singing Old Man River at an NAACP fundraiser at Carnegie Hall. He flew in from California specifically to appear at the fundraiser where the special guest was Dr. Martin Luther King. His rendition was so moving that it was said Dr. King was brought to tears in the audience. It really is very special. Thanks so much for reacting to Frank Sinatra, the Chairman of the Board. 👏👏🥰

My dad was a Frank Sinatra /Steve McQueen type- he was a man among men - as they used to say - charismatic, cool, cutting wit, the cigarette a prop that enhanced his coolness, and his blue eyes would have the ladies swooning over him. . But his passion and the love of his life was my beautiful mother. .They were stunning together. He had a personal power and agency that others did not trifle with and by extension they did not trifle with his family.. He provided safety and security and commanded respect.which gave us a certain level of freedom - freedom from fear and a certain level of confidence. Having a strong man as father is not something I take for granted - it is a privilege afforded to fewer and fewer children. God bless and long live the strong men!
I guess I also want to add that it is easy to idealize his life - but he struggled too. His way of containing his emotions was to keep an certain emotional distance, being a leader can be lonely business. High blood pressure and other stress related illnesses were also the order of the day for men. Strong men sacrificed a lot, they shoulder the burden so their family does not have to.

I was blessed with a Dad that loved music. Frank was his favorite. In 1986...he took me to Vegas. Surprised me with tickets to see Frank in concert. The Golden Nugget Casino. Front row table...Frank larger than life, a beautiful orchestra and the best smile i ever saw on my Dad's face. It was such a special night and a memory that i go to a lot. I lost my Dad in 2012. I listen to Frank when i miss my Dad. Frank is a Legend. His delivery of a song was like no other!!! A Legend!! Our song was Fly Me To The Moon! ❤️✌🏼

I think I disagree. he's under stress, and he's pretending to be in complete control and for the most part, people are buying it. he's pulling it off.
@@axolotl8694 I have said for years that people chase cool, but few ever really catch it. McQueen, Miles Davis, Maybe Brad Pitt. But for certain Sinatra caught it and had it mounted over his fireplace. "I've got the world on a string, sitting on a rainbow, got that string around my finger. What a world, what a life....." It always seemed Sinatra didn't only own the songs he sang, but lived them.

@@zennenn true, it's a performance, but the man had a background where he was the first big pop music sensation, crowd control problems, screaming girls every place he went, the whole bit. So this performance could been just like walking around in some ways, except for the filming, he performed it so often.

It's a well-known fact that Sammy Davis Jr wasn't allowed to stay at the Las Vegas hotels that he performed at for a while, but after he met Sinatra that all changed. He stayed at Sinatra's home for a while after the car accident where he lost one of his eyes and they became best friends. Anytime a hotel wanted Sinatra to perform there he told them that if Sammy couldn't stay there then he would never perform there. By helping to get African-American performers on TV and break the color barrier in major hotels, he played his own little part in supporting the Civil Rights Movement...

Howdy from Texas, from an elder white lady who has heard a lot of amazing music and musicians. I learned a long time ago to breathe the music, great is great... has no color, no genre, no style, no age... it just IS. From this genre of crooners, we recently lost one of the greats, Tony Bennett. For a kick in the head, try anything with Tony Bennett and Lady Gaga or Amy Winehouse. He was suffering from Alzheimers at the end... sometimes lost and bewildered, sometimes couldn't remember he had JUST performed yet when the music began, he was completely Tony the masterful entertainer.
For the record, my number one is the man whose music saved my life by being a lifeline through hard times... Elton John. If I can pop a recommendation from his expansive catalog, give this one a spin... the album version... 1973's double album Goodbye Yellow Brick Road. The first track... Funeral For a Friend/Love Lies Bleeding. and if you forget to stop the playing and catch Candle in the Wind about Marilyn Monroe, just fall into the harmonies and enjoy the ride.

They don't make them like they used to. Frank Sinatra was such a smooth crooner. This is before auto tuning. Artists had to be really able to sing. And the lyrics were clean, romantic & really meant something. He has a huge library of great songs. Some of my favorites are "Fly Me To The Moon", "New York, New York", "My Way", "Strangers In The Night", "I've Got You Under My Skin", "That's Life", "My Kind Of Town", "Summer Wind" etc. And he did a duet with his daughter Nancy called "Something Stupid" in 1967.

In palm springs, where he kept a house , the local radio station played only Sinatra, 24/7, nothing else. this went on for many years even after his death, the guy had talent.

And notice the respect given by the audience to the artist’s rendition of the song. Complete silence and attention, no cat calls or hoots.

My Dad and my favorite song. Dad took me to Vegas to see Frank in concert at the Golden Nugget 1986. He was amazing! Ole Blue Eyes is a legend! Sang like a poet. He knew what inflection was all about. And quite an interesting life. Loved Frank as much as Dad did..❤️✌🏼

Buddy, you're an old soul. I can feel it in your voice and vibe. I'm a boomer, and like you, Frank was even a little before my time, and yet I loved his music and his demeanor. He just grows on you.

Sinatra was also an actor in radio and movies. He had a vital role in the movie "From Here to Eternity". He had several movie roles over about 30 years or so and was always backed by some of the best orchestras and musicians that the recording studios could provide.

In 1986 I told my New-Wave-Punk girlfriend we were going to see Sinatra on his farewell tour. She sneered and said "that's old people's music" so I had to bribe her with dinner at the restaurant of her choice. Frank held the audience in the palm of his hand and the memory of the roaring applause when he capped off the show with "New York, New York" still gives me the chills, and my old girlfriend still thanks me to this day for taking her.

My mother was a Sinatra fan and i Elvis. They did a duet together in 1960 when Elvis just got out of the army and Sinatra put together a welcome home show for him. It's available on UA-cam video. This was the only time Presley ever sang on stage with someone although ironically he sang a duet with Frank's daughter, Nancy, in a movie.
I remember Frank. I'd heard a few of his songs but never really listened. Then, about twenty years ago, i came across " It was a very good year. 12:07 12:07 " it absolutely blew me away. He is absolute class

There is a live performance of My Way on YT - 1975 or so - that is just so good, you won't believe it. His timing, his phrasing, that big voice....it is all wonderful.

Trumpeter Chris Botti, on tour, played a stop in Boston and called upon John Meyer to join him in a cover of an old Sinatra tune, Glad To Be Unhappy. John carried the vocal with a sensitivity to Sinatra's phrasing and style. I would love to see your reaction to it.

I know about Frank Sinatra. I grew up on that man (and I was born in the 1980's 😄). Actually the whole Rat Pack. Dean Martin & Sammy Davis, Jr. may be two other artists worth checking out if you have not already.

One of the best singers of the 20th century in any genre. Hugely skilled, but he preferred to make it look easy. He could sing breathing in and breathing out (a technique he learned from trumpeter Harry James). He wrung the meaning out of every song he sang.
"Moonlight In Vermont" is a classic. Of course, he has lots of classics. 🙂

Growing up in an Italian Household, I really never paid much attention to a lot of the music being played in the house. I was too much into being a Kid. As I got older and started having kids of my own, something Brought me to All of this 40’s Music. I really don’t know what it was, but I Absolutely Love all of this music including Big Band Tommy Dorsey & Glenn Miller.
All this Music Back Then is Second to None.

Wow! My dad (may he Rest In Peace) turned me and my siblings on to ole blue eyes back in the 70's by turning him on every Friday night and hearing him in almost every room in the house and out (intercom system). i have a special place in my Italian heart for Frank. Thanks for the memories!

This is one of those classic songs recorded by so many great artists. It's written by well-known songwriters Harold Arlen and Johnny Mercer. Ella Fitzgerald does a gorgeous version of this as well.

Love this... Im literally crying and crying right now.. my dad used to spend every Sunday ... his day off .. as he was a mailman of 30+ yrs. ..he would sing with the albums, 8 tracks & cassettes of Sinatra and all the boys of the day and the ladies too ... the whole day was a musical magical day .. as he cooked a dinner that was truly from scratch and amazing ..he cooked every day as my dear beautiful mom had Multiple Sclerosis and no longer could... he was an amazing cook for sure.. and truly sounded as well as Sinatra himself.. he took care of her until she passed away (1999in the very home he was born in .. in 1920 ..and we 5 kids lived in as youngsters... he loved us so much .. ) but I was gifted that it gave me all the appreciation i have for music... as well as my sons too ... my son was little and sang along too as my dad played guitar .. my son grew up self-taught in many instruments, and his band toured all over the states .. the house of blue every wear, as well as a very extensive tour of Brazil & Europe ... a gypsy punk .. roots band ... he put on hold being a new dad as of now 😊honestly he sounded so much like him it was spooky... we played "I Did it My Way" at funeral several yrs ago .. he was strong 86.. I miss them so so so much ... especially when I'm going through soon much devastation right now...
