I have never been on a yarn crawl, but we visited a yarn store while traveling and they had a table set up for “yarn tasting” - they had sample skeins of yarn and needles so you could try knitting on the yarn. Some pieces were started in garter stitch and others on stockinette so you could just pick up the project and Knit to see how you liked the yarn. I thought that was a great idea
Fun episode as always. I attended the Hill Country Yarn Crawl back in 2015. I made it to 11 of 14 shops and had a blast. I really enjoyed chatting with other crawlers and meeting podcasters and yarn dyers. It was nice to purchase the featured yarns at a discount and to receive free patterns as well as pins (from each shop) for my crawl bag. Thank you for sharing.
My favorite yarn crawl memory is meeting and chatting with Kathleen at last year’s NJ Wool Walk! My daughter purchased some beautiful yarn on sale that she knit into an Andrea Mowry shawl for Rhineback. We both won skeins of yarn, as well. Had lunch at a recommendation by staff that was delicious. ❤
In 2015 my sisters and I crawled in the Steel Valley Yarn Crawl in Pittsburgh. So so much fun! When you purchased your passport you had the option of adding on a tote bag for the crawl, which was needed for all of our purchases! As you visited each shop you were provided with a portion of a pattern for a sampler scarf. Can’t remember if I ever made it, but thought it was a great idea.
Have done the I-75yarn crawl (Michigan, Ohio, Kentucky, and Tennessee)……it is just fun to go with your friends. They also have sale items, special colors. Love watching your podcast.😍
That was so fun!!! Your wedding dress is gorgeous! Glad everyone is feeling better. Such a lovely saturday spent with you! I have done wool walks, in the Chicago area. They were fun, but it was kind of during the pandemic, and I think yours sounds so fun! I wish I could be there to join. Can't wait to see your exclusive color! All the best! Kimberly
Hi Kathleen, Jenn and Amanda, Yes, the sound is much better! Another enjoyable podcast! Yes, I have done a few yarn crawls /walk which l learned about the NJ Yarn Crawl/Walk from you at Yarnia. Enjoy the tape measure and Yarnia stich markers. I always start my Crawl/Walk at Yarnia!! Looking forward to the NJ Yarn Crawl this year and your 'coffee stop" map! Happy Knitting!
I love seeing everyone's yarn crawl experiences, but I've never made it to one. The closest option is over a 2 hour drive to the nearest participating LYS, and more to the others, so it hasn't been possible yet. I keep saying one day though, so maybe when the kids are older... Your projects are as always spot on, and I cannot wait to see the LBA Yarnia colorway projects live and in color
I've never been on an official yarn crawl, but the Minnesota Yarn Shop Hop is coming up in April, and I'm very excited! I love your idea on having a coffee shop map for the Wool Walk!
I have not been on a yarn crawl, but I have been on a few Shop hops for quilting and fabric shops. I loved it and of course I tried to purchase a little something from every shop that I visited.
Hello, thank you for another wonderful podcast. I have been on the NJ Wool Walk twice. I loved your gumballs. I won a prize. Can't wait to see you again this year. Karin
I went on the 2018 and 2022 NJ Wool Walks. My husband might say that every out of town trip we've taken since I started knitting is actually a Yarn Crawl. I always want to see a new yarn store.
I have only been on one yarn crawl, the Carnation Trail in Ohio. I only had time to visit two shops in the Columbus area, but it was fun! There was a special tote for sale as well as free wooden stitch markers with the LYS name and logo.
I’ve never beer to a yarn crawl. I live in very rural Tennessee and am hours away from any city large enough to participate in a crawl. Love the idea of the passport
Post COVID I find that the stores have become fewer and farther between so our "yarn crawl" is not something I have attempted. Some of the stores are more than 2 hours away. Pre-COVID my step mother and I spent a day going to 7 different shops on the crawl. Our focus was to go to shops we had not been aware of before downloading the list of shops. It was fun and expensive, as I spent money in almost every store. Samples are definitely a way to draw people in to buy yarn for a project.
I try to go on each yarn crawl that I can find in Michigan. West, southeast and Middle of the Mitt. I love when the shops design their own crochet and knit pattern for the crawlers. Someday, 🤞 I’ll make it to yours.
Hi ladies. I’ve been on yarn crawls in NJ and FL. What I liked here in Florida was a special project bag was for sale, as well as a special yarn color ( which you are doing) but they also sold pins commemorating the crawl that you could put on your bag. Lots of excitement buying the new goodies.
I’ve done parts of the Great North Yarn Crawl and the I91 Shop Hop. So much fun, but I didn’t have enough time to do all - busy time of life with my family. I think a mini skein unique to the store would be fun to collect at each of the shops that could be used in a fun pattern
I have done the Hill Country Yarn Crawl here in Texas, and my LYS has a yarn tasting every year. I love trying to do a yarn crawl because I learn about new LYS that I didn't know existed.I wish I could do the Wool Walk. I used to live in Morristown when I worked at Fairleigh Dickinson Florham. Maybe when I retire and come back east to visit family I can do my own version of the Wool Walk
I’ve never been to a Yarn crawl/walk. It sounds really fun. I live in Las Vegas and we only have one LYS. I only started knitting with wool two years ago when I decided to try knitting socks. My husband loves his hand knit socks. Maybe some day I can plan a trip out there and hit all the yarn shops.
Love your you tube... I'm one of your gentlemen knitters. I've never done a yarn crawl..I live in Arizona so we don't have many yarn shops..I guess because our summers can be in the 110s and winters are considered cold in the low 60s lol.
Last year I did the Sweet GA Peach Yarn Crawl, which was the inaugural year! I hope they do it again this year. I went to 4 shops, and my favorite part is the locals dyers that did pop up’s at the shops.
I've never done a yarn crawl. My nearest yarn store is an hour away and it doesnt have hand-dyed if you know what I mean. Nearest yarn festival is a few hours away. Haven't done that yet.
My oldest child is 15 years old and she refused to let me even smell popcorn when I was pregnant w her. Last fall was the first time I could eat popcorn since then 😅😅😅
Hi Phyllis - In this episode Kathleen is making one in Woolfolk Far (it's the shawl version, she used 3 skeins) and Jen is making one in a new yarn for us, Summer Slubbin' by Knitted Wit!
Have you considered adding chapters to the videos to allow viewers to select/skip to interested content? 17 minutes upfront of pregnancy & coffee talk…yikes!

Yes, I have done the I-75 yarn crawl I love how welcoming the stores are.

Sounds great! The NJ Wool Walk has done totes a few years that we were involved. I love the sampler scarf idea!
I have done a few yarn crawls ( in the midwest) and I love that each yarn store had a free pattern that was designed in house.
Have done the I-75yarn crawl (Michigan, Ohio, Kentucky, and Tennessee)……it is just fun to go with your friends. They also have sale items, special colors. Love watching your podcast.😍
Very cool! It must be a serious time commitment to enjoy that one!

I've never been on a yarn crawl, but I'm jealous hearing about your Wool Walk every year! :)
I have never been on a yarn crawl, but it sounds like heaps of fun! Love Prym knitting needles!
I have not been on a yarn crawl but the NJ wool walk sounds amazing. Excited for the projects
I’ve never done a yarn crawl..but it sounds like so much fun! Can’t wait to see the color of your yarn!🧶
I love seeing everyone's yarn crawl experiences, but I've never made it to one. The closest option is over a 2 hour drive to the nearest participating LYS, and more to the others, so it hasn't been possible yet. I keep saying one day though, so maybe when the kids are older...

I love that cardigan Amanda! And the fit is perfect on you!
I have not been on a yarn crawl, but I have been on a few Shop hops for quilting and fabric shops. I loved it and of course I tried to purchase a little something from every shop that I visited.
Can't wait to see the new colors!! I have never participated in a yarn crawl. Hopefully, I will one day.
I've never been on a yarn crawl but it's definitely on my bucket list.
I have not done a wool walk or yarn crawl, however it sounds like so much fun . It is now on my bucket list
Hello, thank you for another wonderful podcast. I have been on the NJ Wool Walk twice. I loved your gumballs. I won a prize. Can't wait to see you again this year. Karin

LOL, Beth - we totally get that!
I have never participated in a yarn crawl in person but have enjoyed watching Prof Purl’s Rose City (Portland, Oregon) blog of their last two crawls.
Yes, Prof Purl does a great job with those!
I've never been to a yarn crawl but it sounds like it would be a ton of fun. Thank you for the video
My Sister Knits in Fort Collins, Colorado had a great set up for yarn crawl with lots of great displays and sale items.
I have only been on one yarn crawl, the Carnation Trail in Ohio. I only had time to visit two shops in the Columbus area, but it was fun! There was a special tote for sale as well as free wooden stitch markers with the LYS name and logo.

I have done the Puget Sound LYS Tour. I love see different yarn stores. Each has their own personality which is fun to see.

That's such a great idea and one that we may see happen in the future in NJ! 🧡
Technically I have been to one yarn crawl, NJ Wool Walk 2022, but only had time to go to one store (Yarnia). This year I plan to go to two stores.
Hello ladies, thank you for your video. I have not participated a yarn crawl but may be one day.
Sadly I’ve never had the opportunity to do a yarn crawl-plenty of bar crawls back in the day though!😂 Keep up with the digressions ladies-hilarious!❤
Thanks, Karen! 😊

We definitely have encountered people doing that - it's one time when New Jersey's compactness is helpful!

I've never done a yarn crawl but I want to do one some day
The prim hooks are pretty!
Hello from St.Louis Missouri!

Hi ladies, love you ❤ never been to a yarn crawl. I might make it this year? I hope!
Go for it!
makes me so happy to see another episode from you guys.
Thank you!

Never had a chance to do a yarn crawl
I’ve never don’t a yarn crawl. I love in NW corner of CT and the stores are just too far away 😕
I have never been on a yarn crawl.
Yay yay yay💕🧶💕🧶💕🧶
Congrats!!
My oldest child is 15 years old and she refused to let me even smell popcorn when I was pregnant w her. Last fall was the first time I could eat popcorn since then 😅😅😅
What yarn are you making your Sophie scarfs in?
Hi Phyllis - In this episode Kathleen is making one in Woolfolk Far (it's the shawl version, she used 3 skeins) and Jen is making one in a new yarn for us, Summer Slubbin' by Knitted Wit!
