How The Curtain Fell On Mizo Insurgency

- Thirty five years after it was signed, Mizo Accord remains the most successful political accord signed between the Government of India and an insurgent group. Mizoram, known in the 1960s as Lushai Hills district, was part of undivided Assam. At the heart of the trouble was a famine caused by rodents and made worse by the state government’s inaction. As the problem festered, the Centre ordered the air force to bomb Aizawl and nearby areas, the only such instance to date. In this episode of ‘Simply Nitin’, StratNews Global Editor-in-Chief Nitin A. Gokhale looks back at how it all began and ended.

Thanks to Nitin Gokhale and SNG for this very interesting snippet on the Mizo insurgency and the accord. A common factor, perhaps, between the Mizo and Naga rebel movement was their link with the U.K., which seemed to have an influence on both movements. One wonders if the missionary links had something to do with it.
Very interesting Mr.Nitin Gokhale

Good grief! A 2.5 hours-long video? This is a record for SNG.
