Both animals eat plants that don't offer that much value for their bodies if we break it down to nutrients and once they are in a dangerous situation, they don't really show their strengths to be honest. However, it worked for them up to the point where we came and decided to take every bit of habitat away that they have.. Species don't just go extinct or endangered out of nowhere and it's a fact that human life has heavily stressed large areas all over the planet, resulting in habitat loss as Some Guy already described it. From an evolutionary point, letting them go extinct might feel natural, but from a moral standpoint... After all they would be fine if we were not around.
For snow all you need cold and moisture. High in the Mountains you have both. When the earth is more free of Greenhouse gasses the colder it gets. The farther the position on earth away from the sun the colder. In freezers from endothermic chemical reactions. Lipolysis creates water from non water chemicals. Many different ways to get cold and moisture which to form snow.
Seriously they do charge when threatened and hiss too! They can run up to 25 mph (not for long periods) and are bundles of solid muscle, with very sharp claws and very strong teeth too! Check out the rescued Wombat Pete and the fantastic Kangaroo Dundee (Brolga) on UA-cam. Kangaroo Dundee is an older BBC documentary series. 😎
Yeah its a surprise to a lot of people, the Australian alps get more snow than Switzerland in area even though we have the worlds lowest highest mountain which is Mt Kosciusko named after a Polish general or statesman whatever he was i guess he was important back in the day.
You don't have to know what a wombat is but where it's from is easy cause of the crazy name it has. If an animal has a crazy name, first guess its from Australia because Australians can come up with craziest names. This is not meant to be a putdown, just something I've noticed...
