    You should look into Kalkwasser before you start dosing All-for-Reef. You can mix with ATO water. Great for nano tanks!

      using kalkwasser in the ATO is pretty much outdated and advised against as it's super unreliable. The amount of dosing you do when you dose via your ATO is determined by how much you evaporate. If you just use a dosing pump you have full controll over how much kalkwasser you dose. This way you won't dose for example 1,5L in the winter and 2,5L in the summer. Plus the rate at which you need to replace your ATO skyrockets with this method as Kalkwasser is pretty aggressive with a PH of about 11,4.
      But Kalkwasser in general is great stuff. Just don't use it in your ATO.

    Been using AFR for about 6 months now with the Red Sea doser. It's been working great! And love the App, and ease of use!

    Just move the ATO output to the same chamber the sensor is in

    Great video. IF you didn't notice you have some bubble algae growing (4:50 timestamp) , there is a crab that eats it sorry i cant reall whitch one . gfo should be in a media reactor.

    Set up a doser for all for reef. It would never give you consistent numbers based on evaporation if its in your ATO. I would definitely tell you to dose a consistent amount.

    I couldn’t quite tell from the video, but typically the ATO sensor goes in the pump chamber as that is the first chamber to drop its level due to evaporation in an all in one tank. If you don’t have it there, try that. If you do, then do your plan!

      Yup, that’s the one it’s in! I have to actively watch it to see what might be happening but haven’t caught it at the right time have only heard it activate twice lol

      @TrevorHiller Місяць тому

      Good deal. Maybe use a syringe or a turkey baster to suck some water out of the return pump chamber while you’re standing in front of it so it activates. Then you can just dump the water back in when you’re done.

      The biggest issue with ATO’s in AIO tanks is snails cleaning the overflow teeth and slowing down your return rate which in turn triggers the ATO for too long. It happens in dumped tanks too but the more water volume the less issue. I previously had an AIO and used the Tunze nano ATO which allows to select 2 limits on the time the pump stays on. I had it set to 40 seconds which meant it wouldn’t add more than a litre each time. You could set it to 240 seconds for bigger tanks if I recall correctly.
      The second biggest issue is trying to keep the sensor clean and not have algae grow all over it. I actually had to black out the back section of my AIO to stop this happening, but cleaning at least once a week should keep it in check. I’d maybe do it twice a week if it wasn’t covered. Algae grows quickest on clean surfaces. Better off blacking it out but keep cleaning it at least monthly or with every water change.

    Definitely setup that third head on the doser for RO+ATO on a schedule. Even if its not doing all the heavy lifting, it would be a nice passive way to keep things up for you. Say it adds water for 1 minute a day or something, whatever that is, maybe you'll get that consistency you were looking for. Why not!

      I actually tracked dowan a used Red Sea Max 250. It looks amazing in terms of the apperance in a room setting. However that tank design isn't the easiest to manage. Some of the newer models Res Sea put out , are big improvemnets. If you really want a hooded tank, options are limited. The Max 250 is cheap to purchase used, if you decide to go with one... I honestly don't think any reef tank is easy to keep, your mileage may vary! :)

    Put the torch in the other tank. No 2 tanks are the same. If you have cyno usually it’s because of low nutrients or large differences between Phosphate and Nitrate levels

    Hey. Love watching your vids. I wish I could visit Miami for Skullyfest. Best of luck on your event! 😢 sorry to be the bearer of bad news... you seriously need to consider taking out those blue clove polyps. If it's contained on rock islands, then get them out. If it's on your main rock structure...you are in for a tough battle ahead. Get on the forums and start your attack ASAP
