I feel so evil for laughing at the air dried hair, but girl we've all been there!!
I laughed too I’m so sorry 😭
😂😂😂😂😂😭
I was NOT EXPECTING THAT! I bust out like what the heck!!! But it’s because her hair was dry so long in the straight state. Obviously whatever she used sealed out any moisture so its not sinking in.Clarifying shampoo to get that stuff OFFF her hair, she needs to steam open those cuticles and do a protein treatment maybe, then the LOC method. I bet you that would work?! I hope that will work!
I died laughing...😅😅🤣🤣😂😂😂
🤣 you're not alone
Sometimes it just takes a wash or 3 to bring it back all the way after straightening 😭
Yup it took me several wash days for my hair to go back to normal making sure not to skip my deep conditioning. I haven't skipped it since😅
Yes... You need to use a stripping shampoo to take all the silicone out of the hair strands.
yeah it usually takes me a pre poo, a few washes and a deep condition later before it goes back to curly
Definitely! I have to use a clarifying shampoo at least twice after a good press add a protein treatment in there too lol
Thanks for this comment cause this is my hair currently lol trying not to cut it off
I’m about to revert back to curly as well! Pray for me 😫
You should definitely try a diy protein deep conditioner. I know your curls will pop!
I never run out of deep conditioner.
Same
use fresh coconut oil, it really helps to define curls
@@Darlingseries clarify, detox your hair first before adding protein.
@@dianattc4770 use a clarifying shampoo to allow the hair to revert properly. Too much oil and build up will not allow moisture to fully penetrate the strands to revert back to curls.
One of your “small sections” is probably my entire hair girl! 😂
Truth
@Caramel Cupcake what happened hun?
@Caramel Cupcake I'm so sorry you went through that. I wish we had the understanding back then also. A lot of my family members have hormonal alopecia. And I had it at one stage due to thyroid issues which I ended up cutting all my hair off. I can't imagine how horrible permanently losing a chunk of hair is though. Thanks for sharing that with me
@Caramel Cupcake I'm so glad for you. I believe it will all work out. Have a lovely day xxx ❤ and I know you will get back to your thick luscious hair again
.
That title scared the hell out of me
Me too
SAME
Me too
The oil application in the beginning definitely stalled the hair from reverting.
Yes! Great point. Oil acts as a barrier and sealent so the water was definitely taking a while to coat the cuticle.
I thought the same. Silicone and oil will not allow water to penetrate. And I think she is low porosity. She needed a sulfate or clarifier or chelating shampoo to get that all off. And that Shea Moisture shampoo that she used is not a clarifyer or a detoxing or a chelating shampoo. A clay masque might have helped. I never run out of deep conditioner. Nah. And my hair is just above shoulder length and fine but thirsty strands.
@@marleyhill34 agreed
I agree with all of you. She needs to clarify her hair. I ALWAYS clarify after flat ironing my hair because a lot of heat protectant have silicones and block the moisture from getting into the hair. Great for straightened hair, but not great for natural hair.
@@marleyhill34 Do you recommend any products for low porosity?
omg when you jump shot to your hair after it dried *my prayers are with you*
Yeah my prayers are with you as well!!!
I died 😭
I was like Damn! That would depress me instantly if I spent all that time on wash day and that was my end result. Being a new mom leaves little time for self care. I let my stylist flat iron my hair. I ain got time for that.
Don't say om- please

I literally bust out laughing, I love Amber so much but chile dat clip sent me 💀💀💀
lmao at least she has her curls still XD
😂😂😂 SAME!! 🤍
Man it was painful to see and it weren't even on my head.
Don't say GOD's Name in vain please
You definitely need to use a clafirying shampoo. I just dealt with this last week and it got fixed after 2 washed with a clarifying shampoo in one shower session. You can't go wrong.
Same. The shampoo she used wasn't strong enough to get the three weeks of oil, heat protectant silicone, anti frizz silicone and build up off.
girl lemme just tell you that you are GORGEOUS 😭😍😍
Omg thank you so much 😭😍😍
@@AmberAnsah you responded!! i love you 😩
@@AmberAnsah A lot of build up from heat protectant (silicones) does this to my hair. I used shampoo with sulfates and do a clay mask after straightening
@@MuzikqLova yes I agree about silicone buildup that happens after I straighten my hair too. I usually try to clarify after wearing my hair straight
5:38 is the iconic face when your hair is finished being done by someone and they ask if you like it 🥲yeah girl!
Ty for convincing me NOT TO STRAIGHTEN MY HAIR FOR AGES
its the sulfates, parabens, and silicones in shampoos.
Yeaah...I pass on the straightening too!!
@@cheys_beauty_pagexoxo3505 The shampoo she used is sulfate and silicone free. Now there might have been silicone in the heat protectant, oils and serums she has been using for the past three weeks. She actually needs a sulfate and or some clay and EDTA to get them off. That's why the water struggle to get in and the purpose of deep conditioner is to penetrate deep into the hair strand. The conditioner she used is only to smooth the first. Cuticle layer. Remember her hair had no moisture for 3 whole weeks! Not dry hair. That's de-hydrated hair. Hydrating the hair come from water and conditioner penetrating deep into the strand cortex third layer. I have high porosity hair and I have to deep condition weekly. I have to shampoo weekly for my scalp but I use a clarifying sulfate every 4-6 weeks to remove build up, silicones or hard water minerals and chemicals.
@Caramel Cupcake My stylist (or I in a pandemic. I have become the stylist. Cause Covid keep closing the salon.🙈🙈🙈)blowdries and flat iron my hair every 6-8-10-12 weeks and my hair is OK. But I know how to infuse my hair with moisture and I shampoo every week.
Straightening had nothing to do with that. It was the oil she applied b4 she started. Water can't penetrate the oil & her shampoo wasn't strong enough in one wash, to remove it. Had she used a clarifying shampoo or washed with what she had 3 or 4 times then good conditioner, would have had totally different results . You HAVE to use a shampoo strong enough to remove oils but packing oil on b4 washing defeats the purpose of washing. It sealed in the dirt
5:55 the look on your face!!! I’m glad you were laughing too 😂😂
5:53 😂😂😂😂😂l laughed so hard , you're still beautiful ❤️
I literally was just about to do a protein treatment because my hair in the front is damaged and won’t revert back to my natural curl pattern and then your video pops up
I was thinking that amber probably needs protein too
That ain't gon make it go back you needa cut it off
1. Clarify and chelate: I use Paul Mitchell shampoo three. 2. Yes a strong/heavy protein treatment: eggs will not work : I use Aphogee two-step. always read the instructions. Don't use that or rice water if you have low porosity hair. 3. Deep condition with a protein free deep condition for 30 minutes with a plastic cap and heat: I use As I am Hydration Elation. I have ultra-fine, ultra-dry, high porosity 4c hair that is easily damaged. I repeat this process every 4-6 weeks until my hair is stronger and trim/dust every 4-6 weeks to get rid if knots, splits and straight old ends.
@@marleyhill34 and on normal non protein days should we deep condition
@@7lawaneeena my routine: Week 1.: Sulfate Free shampoo & moisture deep condition such as As I am Hydration Elation or Shea Moisture Manuka honey & Marufa oil Intensive hydration Masque. Week 2.: light protein shampoo and Medium protein conditioner such as Aphogee two minute or ORS deep conditioner. Week 3.: Moisture shampoo & condition. Week 4: Protein shampoo and condition. Week 5 moisture shampoo and deep condition. Week 6. :clarify and chelate with sulfate shampoo. Protein treat with Aphogee two step reconstructor treatment until it hardens. Rinse. Deep condition with electric conditioning heat cap and protein-free As I Am Hydration Elation. I have ultra-fine high porosity hair so I need this much protein to strengthen my hair. Low porosity will need less protein so maybe Aphogee two step only when the hair is mushy limp and lost elasticity. My trichologists think everyone should shampoo and deep moisture condition weekly.
Thanks for putting this up. I can get disheartened when my hair doesn’t turn out the way I expected and it’s kind of reassuring that it can even happen to the best. Your hair is, as always beautiful 😻
Thank you for your honesty! Most wouldn’t film this but it happens to us all! Your hair will be fine, Love your channel! ❤️
you should really be using some kind of clarifying shampoo after going so long without washing
I was thinking that too she needs a good clarifying shampoo, especially after a silk press
What brands are clarifying shampoo?
@@deadlymoonlight fr tho

@@TheHardestPill Uhm you didn't get the memo, I wanted Amber to like my comment- Maybe you just didn't get it.
So when I want my curly hair back after I have it straightened for a while I use Amla powder in my wash and as a mask. It doesn't leave my hair frizzy either.
Give it a try and see if you like it! Let me know! Love you by the way! 😉
You use just amla and water or do you add it to your conditioner?
@@jusgie I use aloe vera juice for my mask but when I put it in my shampoo I just add it directly to my wash. Then I allow it to sit for a couple of hours then use it.
alma is the truth
@@paulna85 yes I've been using it for a year now along with other ayurvedic herbs. Such as henna, neem, fenugreek and hibiscus and more. I have created oils along with teas that I learned from Curly Proverbs.
Same!
Just made the oil for the first time but dropped a tiny bit of water during and now im a little scared of using it
It’s just because your hair was drenched in oil and oil repels water, after you wash it all out your hair will properly soak up water and then revert back to your natural curls. I wouldn’t worry about it at all!!:)
Amari is in the background saying “hey! Hey! I’m here too! Pass me the mic mama!” lmaoooo
I think a protein treatment might help as well as a goooood deep conditioning. You know your hair best though ✌🏾💕
She needs to clarify, chelate and detox her hair. Clay is the maximum hydration will do part of that.
Imagine doing all that for your hair, and it ends up looking like you haven’t touched it in weeks haha imma run a clipper through it
If you used silicon products in your silk press it takes like 3 or 4 washes for your curls to pop back. Also you may need to clarify to get all of the products off.
Also I typically either do a bentonite clay mask or use the castile soap (that stuff will have you squeaky clean). And also top quality moisturizing deep conditioner and ue heat etc.
The silicones in the heat protectant is preventing your hair from reverting back. Which is good for preventing steam or water making your hair frizzy when straightened. It does take more than 2 washes with a 'gentle' shampoo to get the silicone out. Try a clarifying shampoo and then deep condition. Your curls will pop right back.
I straightened my hair around the same time she did. I did a protein treatment before washing it and my hair felt so good!
I swear by aphogee's protein treatment. I was flat ironing my hair for years, and this treatment at least reverted my hair back to a curly pattern. Eventually I chopped my hair off when it got to a certain length, but I was able to wear my hair out in a wash n go for 2 years before I finally big-chopped without looking ridiculous!
She needs to clarify. The protein needs to bind to the hair. It wouldn't work if the protein binds to the build up that she has on her hair. Poor new Moma.
I usually do a protein treatment after straightening and then the weeks that follow I make sure to deep condition twice a week and use jojoba oil anytime I restyle my hair to infuse moisture even if I put it in a bun or a ponytail and my curls pop right back. your hair will be fine!! just needs time :)
it’s kind of refreshing to see your hair in this state. it shows that your hair really is just a result of how you care for it. i use to think youtube hair is just luck and genetics
lmao!!! 😂😂😂😂😂 i’m dead at the “this is what it looks like air dried”
This happened to me a couple a weeks ago try a protein treatment
Yes I recommend this too.
She needs a clarifying shampoo. That Shea Moisture version is not going to do it.
I dont understand this video. Did she not wash her hair for almost 3 weeks???
@@anaj9346 yeah she did not wash her hair or apply moisture for 3 whole weeks. People do this regularly to preserve the straight hair and stop reversion. People like straight hair Naturals who wear their hair straight 95 percent of the time. . I have to shampoo my sensitive scalp every week so I'm a kinky haired natural. I wear my hair curly 95 cent of the time.
That moisturizing deep conditioner was needed. Girrllll, you made me laugh 😂😂😂 when you showed your hair after it got dry.
And a clarifying shampoo.
When I go from straight to curly I use bentonite clay and oil as a mask. It works every time for me. Can't wait to see your next video.
Or a clarifying shampoo. Clay will clarify and detox a bit but not as much as something like Paul Mitchell Shampoo Three or Bumble and Bumble Sunday shampoo or Keracare 1st lather.
Yes!!!! The clay + oil is a LIFESAVER for curl and shine as a deep conditioner/mask..I went on a limb and even started using it without the oil to cleanse and surprisingly it works well that way for me too (but I also don't use heavy/silicone based products). My hair feels clean but not brittle and stripped
@@somaliaford1475 heat protectants, anti-frizz and anti-humectants used for heat straightened hair often have silicones in them. Also remember she didn't wash or moisturise her hair for three whole weeks. Imagine the build up.
I’m so sorry, but I totally bust out laughing when you showed your dry hair🤣! I can totally relate as well❤️! Hoping your hair gets back to normal soon🥰🤗🙏🏿!
Just need a protein treatment or reconstructor. it’s good to do them right before your silk press (if necessary) and then after . Also prepoo, try a clay mask, and moisturizing deep conditioner
Always clarify after straightening. Otherwise you'll be salty. Learned that the hard way. lol
I was just about to say she needed to shampoo better than that.
Maybe clarifying with a really harsh sulfate shampoo will do the trick. Shea Moisture is sulfate free and sometimes even if it's a clarifying shampoo but still sulfate free, it won't do. Sometimes you need the sulfates. You know? ;)
I thought shea moisture did some detoxing clarifying ones like with clay and apple cider Vinegar? Yeah the one she used was definitely not a clarifier.
@Caramel Cupcake I found two shea moisturise ones with charcoal that are labeled for deep cleansing, clarifying and purifying. African Black Soap Bamboo Charcoal Deep Cleansing Shampoo and Green Coconut & Activated Charcoal Purifying & Hydrating Shampoo.
@Caramel Cupcake sounds good. If it working for you, if it ain't broke don't fix it. Lol! I will stick with my Paul Mitchell shampoo three.
Yessssss let's get it on the max hydration method! Breaks my heart to see those curls misbehaving 😩❤️
She definitely needs that clay detox from the MHM badly after 3 weeks of oils and heat protectant silicone and zero moisture and zero hydration.
oh my!!! i'm looking forward to your next video to see how you go about reviving your hair back to what it should be. Keep the faith Amber! all will be well.......
5:56 took me out 😂😭😂. I could feel the frustration through the screen.
Thanks for being so transparent with us.
That air dried "OH Hell No" killed me 🤣🤣😅
Omg yes am so psyched to see you do the maximum hydration method! Also slightly counterintuitive but you might need to clarify your hair before adding the moisture to it (especially after going 3 weeks without washing). Stiff, frizzy, and dry hair tends to be a sign of product build-up for me.
Hahahaha!!!! I really needed this laughter!!!
Anyway!!! You’re beautiful! And your hair will revert!!!🥰🥰🥰🥰🥰🥰🤣🤣😭🤣🤣😭😂😂😂😭😭😭😂😂😂😭😂😂😭😭😭
OMG!!!! I can soooo relate 😭😭😭 But sadly there is some heat damage that's why it's a bit dry....a super deep conditioning will do the trick for sure. Looking forward to the follow up and next video 🙌😘🙌

Thanks for showing us your not so great hair day ♥️ sometimes it gets frustrating to see a bunch of perfect wash and go’s on UA-cam and Instagram. Excited to watch the hydration video!!
We have similar hair, and I'm just gonna say you're showing all the signs I had before I just decided to big chop. This was one of the signs when I showered it wasnt instantly reverting. Dry it could look okay but then eventually my hair started to thin out on the ends. It took a year before I said "I cant save this time to cut it." Hope you can save it.
Nah. All she needs to do is use a clarifying and chelating shampoo and deep condition with heat. I use a gentle sulfate shampoo and deep condition weekly. That stops my hair becoming dehydrated.
@@marleyhill34 yep, that's what I do too...I think using a clarifying shampoo would've saved amber from having such puffy ends for her results.
@@kayla4667 if she had gone to the salon, they would have clarified and deep conditioned withe her under the steamer or dryer. For sure.
@@kayla4667 what do you use?
@@deadlymoonlight literally the one and only shampoo that I use is the VO5 kiwi clarifying shampoo! It does me right!! #lowporosity.. my hair always feels clean and not stripped when using it!
Omg haha don’t worry we’ve all been there. What I love most about the video is that you just put your hair up and kept it pushing. A lot of times we get frustrated and begin to wreak havoc on our locs to make it act right instead of taking a L taking and a breather. I will definitely be internalizing that energy this year. What’s the maximum hydration method?
Your hair is so healthy. I love it! I tried Max Hydration years ago. And.....its a lot of work for no reason. There are pros and cons. I loved the Cherry Lola Treatment (I don't use anymore because I'm too lazy for DIYing) and I still use some of the recommended products like Trader Joe's Tea Tree Conditioner and Kinky Curly (because they have simple ingredients and no silicones). The method does give hydration, but you have to keep doing it to maintain the moisture. And you have to detangle your hair every day. I'm about simplicity. Less is best sometimes.
The oils is such a good idea! I’m gonna do it
you have sooo much hair !! its beautiful
I would love a video on how you maintained your straight hair for 20 days! That’s pretty impressive!
I love you so much, you always cracks me up e keep it 💯. Keep up girl and absolutely love the baby on the background agreeing with you 😂
After I started embracing my curly hair I was always tempted to use my straightener. I am glad I didn't do any straightening treatment ❤️ I love your hair and I feel you 😭 I pray that your hair revert as good as beforw
The hair and UA-camr that brings me life, can never miss this😭🖤
Omg ! I just straightened my hair too! Haven’t tried to revert back yet ... now Im scared lol😱😩😩😩 praying for your hair . I’m sure a deep condition will help !! Looking forward to your next wash to see if your curls bounce back! Good luck ❤️🙏🏽

I NEVER comment...BUT your final results face made me LAUGH out LOUD!🤣🤣😂😂😂 You are hilarious!! I love you're content. Can't wait to see your next results when you make me jelly again🥰
When I tell you liquid came out of my nose when you showed your dried hair🤣🤣....Sis! That Cherry Lola Method is lookin like a must! (a clarifying shampoo and a good deep conditioner would've probably done the trick tho). Love your attitude and your content....keep doin what u do! 😚
I have the as i am oil to and bcuz of you i bought it and love it, i also bought the cowash to, thanks for the put on 😍
Gosh good to see that it happens to you too. It’s frustrating when all of a sudden using the same products, my wash and go just looks like trash!!!
What if you did the maximum hydration method? Maybe that would quench and bring back the curls? And you could also try applying your leave-in in the shower while your hair is soaking, that step is giving all the gurls life😉
But girl don't worry about it though, dem curls are probably just doing a number on you, they'll be back before you know it. Lets send positive vibes into the universe and manifest the return of the curls❤️
I'm so glad i can live vicariously through UA-camrs because I Loc'd my hair a few months ago and it was the best decision. I got exhausted just watching you wash 2 times, derange, and then style out the shower too. Wooooooooooohhhhhhh
I felt your pain! My hair never acts right when I want it to, however since we’ve been locked down my hair never looked so good 🤔. Tfs 😊
Oh Amber! 5:53 gave me a good ol belly laugh. Thanks for the light-hearted moment- it was needed! ~Hugs from Texas~

I haven't laughed like this in a long time. That face you made with the air dried hair is priceless.
Sis!!! 🤣🤣🤣🤣 it was the air dried hair for me girl🤣🤣🤣! Your hair is still so beautiful.
OMG! This is how my hair looks and can't wait for the next video to see how you fix it. And I will do the exact same because this frizzy hair is just unhealthy and so annoying
Atleast you still have your own hair. Due to corona I had to cut off much of my hair. I have lost soo much hair from it. U have beautiful hair. Blessing
aztec clay mask is really good!! but need to use a nice conditioning mask after cause it can be drying but it’s supposed to cleanse and revert curls
Your hair is literally thickest I lovee it 😍
You still pretty hun 😍 My hair is currently straight & will be for awhile. Try putting oil in your conditioner. I could NEVER do a wash n go. I would have to get too many products 🤭
Hi Amber, all you need to do is use the Aztec healing clay mask mixed with ACV and you're good to go! it works for me every time.
I had the same thing happen to me when I straightened my hair in February. It took several washes for it to feel normal again. I also used a protein based deep conditioner (I generally avoid protein because it makes my hair so stiff and brittle but it worked!) for a few washed after and my hair started doing right again.
Good luck!
sisss you're so real
I agree , I’d love to see you use the Aztec clay mask
🤣🤣😂 couldn't help but laugh girl. You will get it back boo
Try a clarifying shampoo, then a pretty strong protein treatment, then maybe a few days later follow up with the Aztec clay detox mask with ACV & THEN go back to doing all your hydration treatments
The after once it dried is literally my daughter’s hair when I try to follow a hair tutorial 😂😁☺️. But I know yours will bounce back sis.
Yeah, I think this is the problem for mean as well. I didn't use heat, but I put it in a protective style when I took it down and did a wash and go, it wasn't acting right. I think I also have a moisture issue. Plus I might need to switch up the routine because my wash and go products contain glycerin and it is winter right now.
😂😂😂 oooo when u show the final results, I couldn't help but laught. Really caught me off guard. And it's super funny cuz this shidd happen to me before. So feel ur pain sis.
i'm dying at the result lmaoooo this is how i stayed looking in high school straightening my hair all the time 🤣
After straightening, I always use olaplex or a protein based deep conditioner to bring back the moisture in my hair and help my curls pop again.
I'm about to revert my curls back today, so yesterday I purchased the Bond Curl Rehab Salve from Curlsmith. Wish me luck!
Yassss!!! Maximum Hydration Method Please
My hair usually takes 2 to 3 washes after having it straight for 3 weeks before it bounces back
I really respect that you show the not so glamorous side of long natural hair. Frizzy hair is a thing lol. I laughed but I am also looking forward to the hydration method. Be well :)
Man, I wanted to cry for you girl. I can't imagine.
You can do the hot oil treatment for your hair, I tried it and grl it works alot. Though it was so oily it felt super moisturized
Definitely try the Aztec clay mask as a reset again!
