After listening to all sorts of stuff for years this collection is the first to cause me to comment. What a fantastically produced sound by a bunch of fantastic musicians. Top bass player. 👏
Ive seen the wailers(minus bob),toots and maytal, yellowman, israel vibration and a lot of other greats but it makes me so so sad i never got to see lee scratch live because hes the godfather of it all and the greatest next to Bob.
Mr Perry recorded and produced some of Bob Marley's early tracks. Small Axe etc, the list of tracks is quite long. If you haven't already check out some of the tracks from around the late 60's to the early 70's. Peace ✌️
Amazing collection. I saw Lee Scratch Perry play live in an outdoor concert in London on August 2016. Perry was a great performer on this hot summer night in the city.
The “mean and dangerous” track has a heavy Naw’rlins feel coming out of that horn arrangement but it’s at about this track 21:18 where things start to get psychedelic. Bubble UUUUUUUUP!
I am glad I saw him for a bit but am ashamed to have left early because the drunkies were making me uncomfortable. At the time I didn’t drink just weed and I was vegan and dedicated to a way of life. I was afraid to jump when he said jump on the mic and swear he called me a pussy lol I thought of him as an angel I still do. I just couldn’t get over my fears. Now I am a drunk and full of death in my cells.
I've seen Scratch 5 diff times..... At least a couple times he called people out, like what happened to you. Scratch didn't say "pussy" when i saw him. But at one show on Canal St. in NYC back in like 1999 i believe, Scratch said "poop on you dreadlocks. Poop on you".. He was pointing right to the guy next to me. The guy got upset and left! lol
The voice intro to Clint Eastwood (T1 here) has always seemed to me to have been mastered from a single with a skip in the first sentence - Surely Scratch is saying "Clint Eastwood is Boss, tougher than Lee Van Cleef" TWICE ??
Police and Thieves -- Prosecutor and The Felon brought me again here in 2024. We got this

Just remember to meditate, smoke a little herb and know that the Mighty Upsetter is watching over us.
