The AH-1G depicted on the box is in the colors of “B” Battery, 2/20th Aerial Rocket Artillery (ARA), First Cavalry Division. I flew that aircraft and several more during my tour in Vietnam in 1970 and 1971. “A” battery had the triangle just below the cockpit, we had the square and “C” Battery had the circle.

That's really interesting- I can't even imagine doing that! Thanks for your service to our nation and thank you for watching!

I hope you don’t mind me adding a few more comments. You talked about the “two handled gizmo.” This was used by the front seat pilot/gunner to aim and fire the nose turret mounted guns. The turret usually housed a 7.62 mini-gun and 40mm grenade launcher. Some also had twin mini-guns. Underneath the cockpit was the ammo bay with 4,000 rounds for the mini-gun and 300 rounds for the grenade launcher. Another person talked about the dirt on the floor. This was our reality. During the dry season, every inch of our Cobras was covered with a fine grit of red dust. Where we were (Song Be), there was no way to wash them. Same went for us. During the monsoons, that fine grit turned into a thick gooey mess. The window seals wore out rather quickly, so they leaked - everything in the cockpit stayed damp and smelled like a high school locker room. You never left your helmet hanging upside down. You can only imagine what we and our Cobra’s looked like when got back to our rear area after being “up country” for about seven to ten days.

I really appreciate the insight- it's not often that I get to read and appreciate what the realities were for those who fought in Vietnam. Thank you for sharing your experiences- it's greatly appreciated!

Building the Revell cobra. Working out what to do with the cockpit and this has some great pointers. Cheers

The two handled gizmo is the gunner's sight assembly. Really nice work. I find the dirt on the floor a bit heavy for my taste but that is my preference and nothing more, it is very well done. I picked this kit up a while back and will surely be watching the rest of the series for ideas and inspiration.

A very nice cockpit. It looks really great even do I'm kinda pissed that I bought the ICM kits and some photo etch and now they re-release the kit with aftermarket goodies. Also, I read ICM is going release cobras in 1/35 scale as well

I've heard that rumor since the coming Skycrane is 1/35. I can't imagine they'd go to the expense of retooling the existing Cobra kits though. I hope your Cobra build is as enjoyable as this one. Thanks for watching!

@@MisterGsWorkbench thanks. This model is very special to me. My father upon returning from Vietnam built the old revell version of this kit with me. It was also my first model kit , so I have to get it right. Your videos will help. The only thing is I wish it came with seated resin crew figures. To represent the heroes who flew these birds.

@@danwilliams1686 I'm not sure if anyone makes figures for it. Try reedoak.com - they may have something or perhaps you can contact them. I hope you'll share your build progress.

@@allen046 Hi Allen- instead of saying "cockpit colors all wrong", maybe you can share the correct color information? Thanks in advance!
