Never thought I'd hear an Eric Cartman clip during this podcast, yet here we are! 😂 Great episode! Definitely one of the more entertaining ones! And Paul Sorrento is definitely the answer to Adam's question. And I think he meant to say Jose Cruz Jr, not Julio Cruz. who was on the inaugural 1977 Mariners' roster.
I have followed Adam Ray for awhile now and just learned about his love of the Mariners. This was the best episode I’ve listened/watched. Fav part of episode was Adam’s stories about being in the booth
I went and watched Dr Phil Unleashed after hearing this episode. Both were extremely funny. Loved when he started saying, "our book, 'we've got issues' " and referring to both of them as us and we. Good reoccurring bit
With the news of money, do you think Jerry will be gone? I’m pretty sure they’re just winding up to scapegoat Jerry and clean house at the end of the year
Not totally sure to be honest. Feels like the ownership group really likes him. But we’ll find out (let’s hope they still find a way to just win this year)
@ I’d take just winning. But can you believe the Dodgers, who bought Shohei and just won a WS, gave Snell more $$ for 2025 than all the Ms additions will combined??
The practice of "selling" prospects to free payroll is sickening. I can see dumping players ... but packaging REAL talent just to get a contract off the books is just bush league.
In all the history of the Seattle Mariners, they haven’t been big spenders in free agency. The last big free agent was Ray Robbie coming on the heels of his CY award. Lyle and all M’s fans need to realize that this is a mid-market team. Seattle is not LA or NY. In a side note, T-Mobile park isn’t a venue for right handed free agent bats. This ownership group doesn’t have the deep pockets to spend their own resources like Steve Cohen of the Mets. With more resources, the M’s could take risks, but this is not the case. This limits ownership and front office. The only asset that can act as currency are prospects. The better, the M’s can develop prospects, the more valuable they are in trades. Equate currency with prospects.
Whether it’s through trade or free agency, at the end of the day no contending team (or any team) should be allowed to get away with spending $15 Million in an offseason. Period
@ It would be an interesting for the show to go over all the big money free agent acquisitions that the M’s had in the past to shed some light on their history.
@@MarineLayerPod I’m am just laying out the current realities of state of the Seattle Mariners: media market, park limitations, and ownership resources. This is owned by a group not a single owner. This makes it harder.
William not only speaks reality to Seattle Media voices, as Seattle is not only a mid market city, but it’s also SE Alaska. Personally I think J & J have done the best with Seattle real restrictions. Nobody holds Seattle Voices responsible, therefore they’ll applaud the J’s when the move is made, then be the first to jump ship at the sight of the 1st storm. If Seattle went after Soto, Columbo would be the first to say Seattle shoulda known they can’t swim with the big boys if it didn’t work out.

Great interview! I hadn't seen him before, but I'll be watching the Netflix special.
Thanks so much for watching! You’ll love his Netflix special, it’s hilarious
FAVORITE marine layer pod episode of all time will be watching multiple times 😂😂
😂😂 thanks so much!! Adam is just the best. We could’ve talked to him for hours. Really glad to hear you enjoyed the episode!

The boom city rant was hilarious and so true! 🤣
Thankfully, I only have to respect your views on baseball to watch the podcast.

@ Not comedians😉

No way you guys got Adam Ray on lol
We loved having him on! He was great
Ms have less than 16 million now. The new coaching staff said they’re not working for free. 🤷♂️
Lol
I really wish the owner cared about winning… it sucks that it’s automatically sad vibes every offseason. (I’m delusional and want Willy Adames)😮💨
Yeah man, it’s so frustrating:/
(But hey we’re all for Willy Adames delusion too!)
Every year its the same thing dream big. Huge dissappointment with mariners spending money. Then drag thru the season. Rinse and repeat
:/ yeah, it can be brutal
But hey if you need a pick-me-up, check out our interview in the episode with Adam Ray! He’s absolutely hilarious

Wouldn’t be great… but that’s sadly the possible situation they’ve put themselves in with this budget
Hey…Wasn’t Paul Sorrento the 1B the M’s got after trading Tino? S
Ball knower!
Without the decency of a reach around!

What a guy!

I don't need Any politics in my baseball that's why I'm down voting this one
He’s a comedian lol. Chill
