  • Can joint locks work for Self Defense, maybe, but you need to be very skilled to get your timing right and execute them effectively. There is one area of martial arts I've found they work the best.

Oh, Sifu Goat, you could do groupings of great videos and/or shorts targeting self defense for women and special techniques for kids, like awareness and escape skills. Something that always weighs heavily on my mind is seeing children walking up and down the street by themselves. They’re such easy targets for somebody in a van. Your crisp style is so easy to understand and you can very effectively train mindset, grey-man stealth, evade and escape, signaling , and many other vital skills! I’m praying for your success, Sifu. You’ve got a special talent I rarely see among other MA practitioners! 🙏

Stay tuned for future videos. It’s hard to find an adult that will allow their children to be plastered all over the internet which I respect.

With children, teach them that they have been issued with 32 teeth, 10 fingernails and 2 feet. They should not hesitate to use them all. If someone bigger than you tries to hurt you, well then, that isn't fair, so you don't have to be fair either

Great info…. I have 13 1/2 yrs of training, 2nd Degree Jujitsu. I would never try to apply a wrist lock right from jump and I know how to efficiently.I’m not going to say they don’t work because there are ways to get to them if you are a seasoned practitioner. But as mentioned They Are Not Practical in a self defense situation. NO ONE IS JUST GOING TO LET YOU PUT THEM IN A LOCK.

@@scottlaroc7396that is what strategy and tactics are for. It is no different for any lock or strike. Nobody just stands there and let's you do it to them. I have 2 real world self defense situations and both were solved via inner wrist locks

I can only think that someone would grab your wrist to pull you ( onto a punch perhaps) other than that nobody is going to start a fight with wrist grab , maybe grab your shirt to assert themselves but not really a wrist grab.
So its as you teach, your problem is whats coming , not your wrist being grabbed.
Just as you show defend or move to attack first then slip the wrist after with a quick round flick .
    Great video

@@Selfdefensegoat my point is that you can argue anything is garbage regarding self-defense if the person knows what you are going to do. There are a lot of youtubers who put down martial arts or self-defense like Ramsey and Captain Chris and this other guy who claims to be a navy seal. You might have seen his ads.
Every time they show that a move or a technique doesnt work the attacker in their scenarios always seems to know what technique they are going to do. They also have the attacker having much more knowledge of martial arts than the average street thug.
Wrist locks can work in self defense situations depending on the person executing them and the person receiving them. Many martial artists wouldnt just do the wrist lock. They would incorporate a combative or a distraction prior to executing the technique. Perhaps your title was just to catch people's attention.

Sifu Goat, I just looked up your website. Sadness: you’re in Calgary, CANADA, 1,138 miles from my door otherwise I’d join. I’m looking for a Krav studio in my area, but they’re a 1 1/2 hour drive which makes frequent training hard as hell. There’s a MMA studio about 3 miles away that I’m scoping. The owner is a good (godly) man and he works with kids like you do.
I’d like to make a suggestion that you be aware of your language with your videos and expect that kids (and their parents) are going to be influenced by their attitudes about swearing.

Please look into the digital seminar available on BudoBrothers.com. Use KGDEFENSE for a 20% discount so you can train yourself at home without having to drive 1.5 hours or 1200 miles.
Appreciate the feedback. The intended audience is Adults. I do not swear in my kids program.

Kevin, where’s the latest video on Grab Defense? I saw it almost to the end and then it went missing? It’s really good as I was put in that situation before and it ended badly for me. So that’s great help, man!! So, can you post again?!

Love your videos but you've missed the mark on this one. Wrist locks and finger locks are fantastic self defence tools if you know how to get them on, people react differently but the principle to getting them on and keeping them on are the same: know 1 thing to know many applications.
