    Finally -- someone whose made it easier to discern the right product from TLS via video. It's almost impossible to determine which of these is best for the job at the TLS store online. Thank you.

    Another great review! I was wondering if you have checked out District Leather wallets at all? I am tempted by one of the shell cordovan pieces...

      No Anna, I haven't purchased any of the District Leather wallets, they look to be high quality and I like the unique designs! Thanks for the suggestion!

    Great review as always, Jim! When attaching 2 pieces of leather (shell +lining), I've noticed some makers fold the shell leather over the edges and stitch them on the inner side, whereas others do not roll the shell and instead burnish the leather where the two pieces meet. With their bags, Moose leather seems to prefer the first method. In your experience, does this make a functional difference, e.g., in terms of durability, or is it merely an aesthetic preference? I would appreciate your input.

      mikhasan2 I don't own every Moose Leather Shop wallet but every one I have has the blunted matching edges that are dressed. None of them have the edge rolled over and stitched. Makers have to roll over the edges when they use very thin leather that won't take a burnish, and the thinner leathers generally are not as durable especially in an item like a wallet that gets lots of handling. I usually avoid wallets with the rolled over edge, they might look nice on the outside but I don't like the look when the wallet is open, it's hard to get that turned edge perfect and some makers just don't care what it looks like. Thanks for the comment!

      James Crane Thanks for your response! I also have a preference for burnished/painted edges over rolled ones for basically the same reasons. Given your extensive experience, I am glad to hear you are of the same opinion. I use a bridle leather wallet from Ettinger. Ettinger, Glenroyal, and Whitehouse Cox -- I like British wallets -- are well-made but feature the roll-over edges. The thinness makes them very compatible with suits though, I must admit!
      As for wallets which feature burnished edges, I am always blown away by Wildswans of Japan.

      Those are all exceptional leather goods makers, I also like Aspinal of London, they also used turned edges but they are so precise and well done.

    Hey James, do you know what the warranty/guarantee policy is for "theleathershop?"

    • @JamesCrane
      @JamesCrane  6 років тому +2

      The Leather Shop offers a lifetime warranty from any manufacturer errors. We will cover any damage caused by a defect. This guarantee does not cover any damage that results from neglect, improper handling, abuse or common carrier damage. This guarantee also does not cover ordinary wear and tear.

      Awesome, makes sense. I was just questioning because this wasn't noted on their webpage and I'm interested in the Business Briefcase 2 as well as their Vintage Backpack. As always, I appreciate your reviews and timely responses. I hope everything's well on your end.

      I've never needed to use the warranty because the quality is truly second to none. This isn't imported from the third world, inexpensive chrome tanned leather with brass plated rivets, pot metal hardware, nylon reinforcements needed to hold the bag together, this it top of the mark, made in the USA, vegetable tanned saddle leather with heavy duty polyester thread with each piece being truly flawless, unlike you know who.

      You scroll down to the bottom of their webpage under "customer service" to read the warrany.

      I know who... lol. From what I've see and researched, I haven't seen any other company come close to the leather / quality of The Leather Shop (prices are steep on some stuff)... just my impressions from online observations. It's about that time I get some hands on though and try out the product for myself.
