This place is damp and ghostly I'm already gone And the halls were lined With the disembodied and the dustly wings Which fell from flesh gasplessly And I go where the trees are And I walk from a higher education (For now, and for hire) It beats me, but I do not know It beats me, but I do not know It beats me, but I do not know I do not know Palaces and storm-clouds The rough, straggly sage, and the smoke And the way it will all come together (In quietness, in time) Bitch, you laws of property Bitch, you free economy Bitch, you unending afterthoughts You could've told me before - Never get so attached to a poem You forget truth that lacks lyricism; Never draw so close to the heat That you forget that you must eat Oh whoa In order to make the music Seems I must break so many things Turn over like bracken and sea-shrapnel Grazed by the tongue of a beetle-green sea Let each note be A full-bodied song: Enough fingers Enough toes Skin to cover the rich, bloody beat Enough belly Enough feet
Joshua trees? I thought they were only in SOUTHwest. The end sounds improvised on the spot, and I like how the outro is more fast-paced, kinda sounds more urgent, and gives it a creepier feel. I always thought this would sound nice in a thriller movie.
Best version of one of my absolute favorite songs
I couldn't agree more! It's so raw and beautiful... Can't listen to it without tearing up... Later versions sound forced and just... Not this.
Its so amazing to hear the old versions of her songs then hear the new ones.
This place is damp and ghostly
I'm already gone
And the halls were lined
With the disembodied and the dustly wings
Which fell from flesh gasplessly
And I go where the trees are
And I walk from a higher education
(For now, and for hire)
It beats me, but I do not know
It beats me, but I do not know
It beats me, but I do not know
I do not know
Palaces and storm-clouds
The rough, straggly sage, and the smoke
And the way it will all come together
(In quietness, in time)
Bitch, you laws of property
Bitch, you free economy
Bitch, you unending afterthoughts
You could've told me before -
Never get so attached to a poem
You forget truth that lacks lyricism;
Never draw so close to the heat
That you forget that you must eat
Oh whoa
In order to make the music
Seems I must break so many things
Turn over like bracken and sea-shrapnel
Grazed by the tongue of a beetle-green sea
Let each note be
A full-bodied song:
Enough fingers
Enough toes
Skin to cover the rich, bloody beat
Enough belly
Enough feet
Such beautiful music
I always come back here.
Still love this song.
Such a peaceful song ...
Trankil Mimile It honestly is one of the most beautiful pieces I've heard. :_)
so light and free
yet so heavily-hearted
GOATed version of this song, amazing. enough belly, enough feet.
Joanna is my mother and my teacher and my lover

Ten seconds in and I'm crying.
I like this version better
Same
sensational !
Heerlijk, met Joanna Newsom op fietsen, alleen de bergen en beekjes ontbreken jammergenoeg in ons platte landje :) leuk!
ken niet veel Nederlanders die Joanna Newsom kennen, leuk!

This fits SO well...
And THAT is how you be random but lovable all in one vidya
@FerReinert I think it's "bitch, your laws of property"
Or "Bitch, you laws of property", as she's directly engaging with the laws themselves and what they entail.
Bitch, new laws of property.
damn
Nuages - machines
Is it me, or she really says "BITCH, your loss of property..."?
i think it's "bitch you: 'laws of property' " but i like your version
@@oceanbearmountain yes... Bitch, you laws of property
