Cool thing about the Stagepas 1k is that you can pair it with the cheaper DXL1K for stereo sound (no need to buy another Stagepas 1k unless you need the extra inputs).
Jusr bought one. A very nice unit. Owned Bose Classic which is the best Bose portable system there is. Just heavy. Here is a setting that makes the K1 project further acoustically at low or high volumes: Set Mode to Club. Then set individual channel's EQ to the left, cutting out the bass. From there, you can adjust the bass to your liking. Use little though.
Doing this will boost the mids and highs (lacking otherwise) and project across the room just like the Bose way of doing things. There is a reason Yamaha uses 1 1/2" drivers. Smaller speakers disperse a wider degree than larger ones. That is how they got 170 degrees. Bose and other companies knows this but use slightly larger drivers, but angle them to compensate the dispersion loss. If distance is not what you need, then use the Mode in Live or speech. Try it.
Love this advice… exactly why I was searching on UA-cam to find this trick!
Good review & comparison. I have a question, for live singer with accoustic guitar, which is the best beetwen ev 50 or stagepas 1k ?? (for the sound clarity & sound effect quality built in (reverb+delay)).
I have the Yamaha 1 k awesome sound and looks great. I want to get 1 more . The only drawback is the Bluetooth app takes a little finessing ( it buffers and you have to remove it and reinstall it )
Nice comparison, Richard. Question: Will the Yamaha Stagepas 1K accommodate 2 mics and 2 guitars?
He said 4 channels, so I'd say that's affirmative
Yes
I can answer this. Yes it definitely will handle 2 guitars and 2 vocal mics.
@@BluesCat1980 it depends. channel 1,2,3 can handle both xlr (mic) and line in/ jack (guitar) you can add reverb and eq to them. The 4 channel is stereo input that you can use as mono input as well, but you cannot use the reverb. If you don't want to use any extra pedals and would like to use to guitars and 2 mics it's a problem. For me it's not as I can use my looper's effects.
Excellent comparison. Concise. Pertinent info. Much appreciated!
No contest, in the UK on price alone the EV 50 is double the cost of the 1k
But listen with studio headphones and DAC to realice Yamaha is more accurate for live music stage sound , the EV sounds good for electronic not for blues , Soul … real music
Debes ponerlo en el modo "LIVE" en EV y no tendrá rival.@@JuanBlasBecerra
for amplifying a digital piano, do you consider the yamaha a better choice (based on the concept that the Ev is best applied with DJ for its deeper bass)? thanks for your answer.
The Yamaha straight out of the box is going to sound better than the EV. The EV ships in a "Music" EQ mode, and there are different EQ presets. If you're in a mobile application, you can also purchase a caster base for the base of the Yamaha, and you can wheel it around. The EV is going to produce the most sound however. The EV is more powerful, has more speakers, but in that it is considerably more, and you don't get some of the features you do get on the Yamaha. A more fair comparison to the Yamaha Stagpas 1k would be the EV Evolve 30M, but at the time we filmed this video EV had yet to release that product. We have a comparison in the works between those two, so get subscribed and ring that bell!!
Thank you very much for making this video 🙌🙌
The Yamaha control app is wonderfully designed. You can control all parameters of the StagePas from your tablet.
I agree and if you need to plug more than 2 things in, the Yamaha is a much better option.
@@BrightonMusicCenter It's better to have more channels than you need. It's always a pain when you have limited channels.
Also, the Yamaha has reverb and delay where the EV does not. The Yamaha can easily avoid having to use a mixer. With the EV, you pretty much need a mixer if you’re doing any type of life music with it.
@@JoseYSusTeclados If you use the link inputs you can bypass the internal mixer altogether.
Hi would it be possible if you can do a sound comparison between the yamaha stagepas 1k vs evolve 50.
Thank you for the comment!!!! The reason we decided to leave out a sound comparison, was simply because it wouldn't give a fair representation of each one of the speakers. If you would like to hear them side by side, we can give you an audio demo in the store.
Great comparison and I've been waiting for this! Which of the two systems actually sounds 'better'... Better being a very subjective term! Is one 'louder' than the other? Both have 12" active subs. Which one is more punchy? Keep up the great work.
Out of the box I like the sound of the Yamaha better. It really depends on what you are using it for. I have used the EV out with live music, not knowing it ships in music mode, and it gave me fits. Since I set it to "live" it behaves better. I think the EV has more bass. You can't go wrong either way.
How would you compare the yamaha stage 1k vs ev 30m can't decide which one to get.
Sorry for the late reply. The build quality of the EV seems to be more durable. That being said. The EV and the Yamaha have a lot of plastic. The pole that supports the speaker module is plastic, and the connector is plastic.
in his opinion which of the two systems is better. comparing it in power, sound clarity, and performance
Richard here, That's a hard call. They both sound good. If you were doing a duo or single act with back up tracks I'd go with the Yamaha. I haven't taken the Yamaha out yet with a live band but I can tell you if you don't set the EV to "Live" you are going to run into all kinds of problems.
Hi can you play a demo sound comparison between the stagepas 1k and evolve 50?
I want to connect my Left and Right output audio jacks from my yamaha keyboard to the yamaha speaker for a stero sound. Can i do that or not?
channel 4 is dedicated to stereo input! So yes you can!
@@peterszikszai4678 this would not give you stereo, that is for cell phones
key question, which one is louder?
EV
They’re both 1000watts. The volume Is very similar, the EV has a little more bass but sounds a little more harsh compared to the Yamaha
For Line Arrays, the smallest the speaker the better - considering mid/high and subwoofer are properly matched.
Is this ok for pub gigs?
Me and my dad has done plenty of gigs with the Yamaha's anywhere from cafes to backyard party's to big pubs and can say they hold up very well.
Don't both with the 1K. Quality of internal design is not pro quality. In addition, Yamaha does not readily have replacement parts in stock. I really wanted to like the 1K, but after mine failed and after Yamaha "repaired" mine, sent it back scratched and still not working, I cannot trust the unit.
which one do you prefer?
They both have good and bad, it depends on your application. The app for the Yamaha makes it really great for backup tracks if that's your thing. If you are a wedding DJ I would say the EV would be better, more bottom end to me.
@@BrightonMusicCenter did you have the mode control on the yamaha set to club? That gives you a boost in the bottom end.
good review. :)
Sarebbe bello avere almeno i sottotitoli in italiano
No sound test....
Thank you for the comment!!!! The reason we decided to leave out a sound comparison, was simply because it wouldn't give a fair representation of each one of the speakers. If you would like to hear them side by side, we can give you an audio demo in the store.
@@BrightonMusicCenter Your review means nothing. It doesn't matter which system has the better app... what DOES matter is sound quality. And since you didn't touch on it, here's my opinion: I own 2 Evolve 50's. And I have extensively listened to the Yamaha. While the Yamaha is a pretty decent system, the Evolve 50 blows it away. Not only that, the Evolve 50 is built much better and certainly more road worthy. I DJ and had just about every size and brand of speaker system and I will say without a doubt, the Evolve 50 is the best system I've ever owned.
@@Alan-tz7lj Which means the yamaha is much better. It's literally half the price of the EV.
Being almost as good for 1/2 the price makes it better.
IF you just want better, then go up to the Bose L1 pro, twice the price of the EV50, no surprise it sounds better.
@@Alan-tz7ljif you listen Yamaha vs EV with a studio pro headphones with DAC , you’ll realice YAMAHA is better live stage sounding than EV .. Wich is more for electronic music DJ , Yamaha is more for “real music” , talking about Soul, Blues .. and singing
En el modo "LIVE" nada supera a Electrovoice@@JuanBlasBecerra
No contest. Yamaha.
