Time ranger and time force have the exact same plot but time ranger does it better. Gokaiger is Pirate themed and has nothing to do with Goseiger (megaforce). They sentai was fighting an armada and release their powers into space to defeat them for a short time. The gokaigers now have access to their powers in the form of ranger keys (thats why they are pirates. they stole their powers basically) and its up to them to defeat the armada. You should watch all the gokai changes.
@@trashboat5388 power ranger doesn’t care about the theme but super sentai care about the theme and meaning and The atmosphere like: King ohger, Kyuranger, Ryusoulger, Go-onger
Turboranger was the first sentai to feature High School Students. Also Dairanger (Chinese Martial Arts Motiff) Kiring Ranger (Yellow) choreo in the rollcall was inspired by Jackie Chan's Drunken Master film.
BTW that last one was the "Unofficial Sentai Akibaranger". That one is a definite parody show created by the sentai company. It tackles the common cliche or theme that happens in sentai shows which are well-known to the fans. Because the characters in the show are fans themselves (well except the blue one 🤣) and they actually just transformed and fought in their imaginations. A good and hilarious one 👍 But definitely need a little knowledge of the sentai teams.
Returning again to give an explanation: To jog your memory, Sentai comes before PR, as it’s an adaptation of it with the costumes and action footage being licensed out once the original has finished production. With there being a year gap from the start of the original and it’s adaption’s, adapting from the 16th team onwards, mostly. Overall each series is a standalone installment. Obviously with PR there are parts where it changes things up, as you’ve noticed in the transformations. 33:08 Zenkaiger is the more blatant anniversary series, with the suit designs being based on previous Sentai team, with each inspiration being denoted by the number on their head corresponding to that team’s placing. With Zenkaiser and Staceaser being not following under that as their designs are pretty explicit, the former being an Akarenger suite with JAQK’s Big One’s colors, and the latter being a Battle Fever design with evil and mechanized accents.
@@markcruz359Donbrothers is based off the Japanese Folklore story of Momotaro who was born from a peach (Red) and along the way he befriends a talking Monkey (Blue) Dog (Black) and Pheasant (Pink) Yellow is based off a Demon
Fun fact that the Green Ranger from Hurricaneger/Ninja Storm in the original Japanese version had no human host. He can transform himself as various human faces that played by previous Sentai actors
For Megaranger, the theme was entirely different from In Space. It was digital/technology theme, and the Megaranger powers were 'tested' to find users by being used as a fighting video game. So the five color blocks represents the character selections.
I feel like this was already explained by another person in the comments, but Kaizoku Sentai Gokaiger (the yugioh looking ones) are Pirate themed, hence the poofy collars. They also happen to be the the 35th anniversary team and as such, can also transform into any of the previous teams up to that point. And since they can do that, as well as have returning characters from previous Sentai seasons, it's a good place to start watching SS imo. (and ToQger, the train ones, can swap colors with each other also) Also yes, SS is still going on. In fact, The one that just started less than a month or two ago is Bug themed with the suits being regarded as some of the best looking ones
They can transform into almost any hero as long as they have a corresponding ranger key, not just any previous teams (they transformed into Kamen Rider OOO in a cross-over movie and Metal Heroes in another movie, they also transformed into the 4 following teams in the Zyuohger cross-over episode)
Regarding your question, Japan did it first and then Saban takes the fight scenes and Mecha battles and uses their footage while adding teen drama in between. Some American shows have some exclusive things that the Japanese don't have and vice-versa.
@@bhavanijayant526 very. For example. Kyoryuger dance when they transform because to activate it, they are made to dance to the Earth's Melody. In Dino Charge, they just pull trigger and BOOM! power rangers
I also recommend Gokaiger, it's an anniversary season, and the theme is Pirates that have all the suits and powers of the previous 34 Sentai teams before them. It actually educates the viewer about the history of the show too.
32:43 Basically, except for the two humans, every Ranger on that team is modeled after a Megazord from the most popular motifs - Dinosaurs, Animals, Magic, and Vehicles
This could easily fit power rangers but how would they explaine the numbers on the heltmit even though it's zyuranger mighty morphin pink mystic force/maho sentai yellow goaranger/wildfire and white its own and gold goakaiger/supermega
I love Dairanger. It's the one where the White Mighty Morphin' suit is from, played by a child. And it's actually a very intense and violent show. And the fighting styles are very intricate to watch, and the suit actors pull it off smoothly every episode.
It’s so good! It was the first sentai I watched and I was so happy I picked that one. The roll call with them unmorphed is also my favourite - the actors have said how hard it was doing those moves and they ace it and you can believe that they were the ones doing those moves in suit every week.
15:16 not sure if anyone pointed this out, but LSR and GoGo V vary drastically because LSR created a wholely American ranger in the Titanium Ranger. There is no Sentai counterpart for it.
I read somewhere before, the history with roll calls.. so within Sengoku period, samurai will introduce each other names before a duel, so the winners can report to the authorities who he defeat to earn the prizes.
Sorry to break it to you if you thought Saban's Power Rangers did their own version of sentai. You see, Super Sentai came way before PR started. So they re-used most the clips from the sentai series when they're in costumes, then editing, and adding their own scenes tying in their own story. It's only recently since Beast Morphers is when most of their scenes are their own. Edit: The Zenkaiger is their 45th anniversary series, so they made the 4 rangers look like the megazords of previous sentai. Red is to represent the Zyuranger(Mighty Morphin) megazord Yellow is to represnt the Gaoranger(Wild Force) megazord Pink is to represent the Magiranger(Mystic Force) megazord I dont know what Blue is, it's possibly the megazord from RPM or SPD
Actually, each represent a common 'theme' that Sentai uses, with them directly referencing a particular season that used that focus. Red/Juran is Dinosaurs (taking #16, Zyuranger (Mighty Morphin' in the west) as a basis) Yellow/Gaon is Animals (taking #25, Gaoranger (Wild Force in the west) as a basis) Pink/Magine is Magic (taking #29, Magiranger (Mystic Force in the west) as a basis) And Blue/Vroom is Vehicles (Taking #30, Boukenger (Operation Overdrive in the west) as a basis).
In the beginning, the Power Rangers simply took the scenes of the transformed heroes from the Japanese version fighting and just dubbed, while in the non-transformed scenes they used American actors. Nowadays it's not like that anymore and they manage to do A LOT of original stuff. You should react to the openings of Metal Hero or even the transformations, Metal Heros is a franchise that ended in the late 90's but had fantastic series. It is worth it
Gokaiger was the 35th aniversary series, and had keys that would allow them to transfrom into the previous (and future) sentai, Gokai Silver has the strange ability to combine keys, which he discovered when he couldn't decide between go-on silver or gold to turn into to join the team when they did a Go-Onger team change.
Donbrothers (the one with the insane CG members) is a culmination of years and decades of insanity within Super Sentai, and it is actually really good. I started binging it because of the pink and black members last year, to actually get the context to why they look like that. In fact, Donbrothers is the reason why I rewatched Sentai again after all these years.
Donbrothers is surprisingly good. This is definitely one of the best endings so far. The story is also very unique from the usual super sentai. It's more character-driven than "heroes saving the world" theme.
30:10 is Lupinranger vs patranger, theme is cops vs robbers. Basic gist the lupinrangers are stealing back artifacts taken by the monsters of the show while Patranger are trying to arrest them while trying to destroy said monsters. The show caused a civil war among fans on who to root for. (Fun fact: Arsène Lupin a famous fictional thief was the basis of the lupinrangers he was known for wearing a top hat and cape.)
not roasting, but I'm gonna go heavy on the seasoning anyway the first 2 season are affected by what is called "early entry weirdness", one of the biggest difference is that they do not have a megazord. the third serie was worked on by Stan Lee (see Japanese Spiderman for more notes) and the base idea was "capitan america and his super friends", then modified into battle fever. Stan also introduced the concept of "take down the monsters, he grows giant, take down again using the megazord" in the serie up to a few years back, the continuity was "everything happens in the same world, but not consequencially"; the big example is between season34 (the angels) and 35 (the pirates). the former serie ended the 6 of febbruary, the latter started feb 13, and in both seasons you see physical calendar and there's references to the current dates. during this 7 IRL days, in the fiction there is 6 moths skip to the post season movie for 34, a 3months of uninterrupted war after that, then a 3 year treasure hunt across the galaxy to set up the backstory of season 35, and a couple of weeks of travel from space to earth as shown in the introduction for the first episode. again, all this in a week. after that, the serie went to a multiverse setup to avoid headaches, and for now it's sticking with it the random clips on the older sentai are the extra allies. zyuranger is the first seeason to have a consistent sixth member, but before then the concept was used for storyarcs and single episodes yeah, SPD got the better furry by far. the fully red ranger that appears for the anniversaries is Akared (roughly translate to Redcrimson). he exist to be fanservice and sometime a plotpoint. last time he cropped up, he needed to be dead for the plot, and it's unclear if he came back already or not zenkaiser and donbrothers are AGGRESSIVELY japanese. the period 2019-2022 is full of singificant anniversaries for the industry, so they went full-on referencial, here you can see it in zenkaiser, which ranger forms are the megazords from a few key series. both seasons go hard on using the powers from previus seasons, similar to the pirates the last one shown is a self-parodying serie that ran concurrently to the 35, the unofficial sentai team, akibaranger. they use the power of mental films to fight an enemy that is trying to become real and defent akihabara. the grunts are litteral accountants
As a curiosity, changeman was the only super sentai that was reproduced in brazil along with Ultraman in the 80s/90s and it was a huge success, and even today it is remembered by people of that time, without them even having any idea what it is a super sentai.
Putting it like this. Super Sentai was the source material and inspiration for Him Saban to make Power Rangers. He takes their footage and makes a story around that. There are times where they do tell the same story but most of the time they tell a different story and just use the footage of them in their suits. Sometimes they skip a Sentai when it doesn't fit the theme that they want so they go to the next one. But yes Super Sentai came first and Power Rangers came after.
26:33 that guy in kyoryuger is the scientist who created the gaburevolvers (the changers) and whose voice is heard when they change or a mech is combined and the one who speaks in the intro. He also later voices a motw in kyoryuger
If you decide to watch Super Sentai, a good rule of thumb is that the sillier the premise, the harsher the ending of the show. And yes, Starninger transforms with a hamburger and uses a guitar to fight.
Honestly, that's good to kepe in mind with Kamen Rider too: If a premise sounds silly, it WILL sucker punch you. Charming school life? PSYCHE! Have nutjobs you'd see in real life but with cosmic poewrs. Innocent 'Gotta-Catch-Em-All' series with Alchemy elements all about Friendship? Dread will ruin that for sure. Fruit themed series? ...It's written by the Urobutcher. Heaven can no longer save you.
With Donbrothers you have to be a fan of Sentai for a few years to understand the craziness, or you'll only be more confused. Because it's a wild festival and I don't think a beginner can handle it, especially since their black and pink ranger is mostly CG. But I like that honest reaction.
just making it clear: Power Rangers are the "Variants" of the Super Sentai, super sentai are way older and the american rangers are based on these japanese shows
Another thing I enjoy with this show is just how unapologetic it can be with the wacky designs of the suits and mecha. This is a fantasy series overall. Anything goes. One season, cars can talk, another season, you can have a dog as your boss, and another you can literally transform yourself into a giant mecha. It's great in the variety department. There's a little something for everyone to enjoy.
@@prettycureforever7102 agreed. But even RPM couldn't resist having very silly moments. They literally had an entire episode dedicated to behind the scenes and bloopers. That's a lot of fun.
For the last the one the suits of the sentai is based on a Japanese folk lore in which a young boy who was found by two older couple in a peach fruit flowing through a river. The older couple took him in and raised him as their son. As the son got older he realized his mission and went on a journey to compliment it, through his journey he was accompanied by a dog, an pheasant, and a monkey to defeat a demon(oni in Japanese) . So The red one represents the boy Blue is the monkey Yellow is the demon Pink is pheasant Black is the dog
Kirin Ranger, the yellow Dairanger, uses drunken boxing as his fighting style. Kirin is also a Japanese beer brand, and its mascot is a yellow kirin, so the yellow ranger did was actually the drunken style, at 9:50
So, Power Rangers is of course, using Sentai as its source material. Not just costumes and general ideas, but also literally splicing japanese footage into the american shows. That's why so much looks so similar. That's also why in Power Rangers, the characters personalities seem to change completely based on whether or not they're in costume (In Space is a great example of this, as Andros was this super serious edgy boy, but MegaRed was a hyper man-child) The group that was directly after the source for MMPR was Dairanger, which MMPR used the Kibaranger costume for the White Ranger, and used the mecha from Dairanger for the Thunder Zords in MMPR season 2. They didn't use the regular costumes from Dairanger or any of the custumed footage because they wanted consistency with the characters and the suits, and also, the yellow one that you said was dancing circles around the others, he wasn't dancing. They are based on various Chinese martial arts, and the yellow one uses Drunken Fist, which the American FCC didn't want in a kids show. The ninja Kakuranger looked familiar to you, because their stuff was used to make the Alien Rangers mini-series, though the buff blue guy became Ninjor in MMPR Season 3, and in the first Power Rangers movie. The group near the end, with the 4 robot looking characters was their 45th anniversary season, so their motif is based on the mecha of whichever season they're representing. The red one being the Dino Megazord, the pink one being the Mystic Force Megazord, etc. The white and gold ones, who were human, even later on got power ups that were based on the Dragonzord from MMPR, called the "Zenkaiju gear". The one with the 2 CG characters, the really tall pink guy, and the really short black one was their second to most recent season. You're not wrong to have a bad first impression of it. The CG for those two remains pretty consistently rough through the entire season. It's motif is based on the japanese myth of the "peach boy". It's VERY dependent on its audience knowing a lot about Japanese culture. It gets a lot of acclaim here, despite the entire season amount to not much more than a season-long filler episode. Western audiences like it because it's a slice-of-life story with lots of "silly-billy" humor. They're the same audience that watches modern reboots of older popular shows that focus on nonsense like what food the characters like to eat in their off time. Personally, I found that season, Donbrothers, to be one of the worst sentai that's come out. The last one shown in the video is Akibaranger, the "Unofficial Sentai". It was more like a side-series, where the three rangers were a group of weebs that would get caught up in delusions or daydreams of being superheroes. It was intentionally somewhat cringey, and would sometimes break the 4th wall. It's basically Toei making fun of themselves, and it was pretty decent. Yes, Super Sentai IS still going, currently on their 47th season, "Oh-sama Sentai King Oh-ger". They're only about 5 episodes in so far, but it's already far better than the last few seasons
Green Hippo and Black Puma are actually from a movie-exclusive version of the Go-Busters who are from an alternate reality where, rather than being a special ops team whose suits are themed after animals they're called Doubotsu Sentai Go-Busters, an animal-themed team in a similar vein to Gaoranger/Wild Force (Well in roll call style at least they don't focus on the alternate Go-Busters that much in the movie)
Though they do show some clips of the "Doubutsu Sentai Go-Busters" battle against their AU villains before they too fall to the movie villain and then both Tokumei Sentai Go-Busters and Doubutsu Sentai Go-Busters work together to beat him.
So something funny that doesn't make much sense if you've never watched Sentai. When it first aired, people did not like Go-Busters (the one right before the dancing Dinos) because it was a departure from what Senati had been for a while. So they made a one-shot movie/mini-series where they basically parodied the entire franchise in the most ridiculous way possible using those suits and actors while saying "this is what you wanted" which is why there are random animal noises in the background.
Hey, stop saying “Super Sentai looks like Power Ranger”, you make it sounds like SS copy PR while the fact that PR is the one who copy SS, remember that.
I've mentioned this before that I grew up watching PR and not Super Sentai or Kamen Riders etc... My opinion is based on what I grew up watching and this reaction of what came before PR is interesting to me. When I see something that is familiar to me in PR obviously I'm going to reference that. So please respect that fact.
i have never seen anyone come in here with an opinion so directly opposed to the general fanbase, it's almost kind of impressive liking the Zyuohger suits despite them being plain spandex print with nothing really going on, disliking the Gokaiger, Zenkaiger, and Donbrothers' suits, some of the most popular and well liked out of the whole franchise. (it'd be more accurate to say that they've never been more succesful, instead of saying that they've lost their touch) if nothing else, that's a brave stance, i respect it
I did not know that fact about the suits so thank you for that! I never meant for my opinion to be opposed to the fan base.. This is a simple reaction from someone who grew up watching PR and when I found out that PR took inspiration from Super Sentai/Kamen Rider etc... I was curious to see how much. My reaction is not meant to offend or discredit any of it, I wish some people understood that not everyone has seen the actual inspirations for PR so when I see the suits looking bland etc... it's only because I am use to what I saw as a child. Thank you for your kind comment
@@tyky I see this franchise as you are allowed to like what you want to like. And getting comments like the ones you been getting, all the gatekeeping and ppl trying to tell you what you were supposed to like is some toxic fandom behavior. And it can scare away any potential new fans. If you like ZyuOhger, that's fine. I like the ZyuOhger mecha even tho too mang people complain about them being literal bricks. I personally don't care about that. And seeing all the hype around Gokaiger is great bc I think it's good too. But it's not the best season of Sentai, it's an anniversary season so a lot of people like it for that reason. Same with Zenkaiger. A lot of people love the suits. I do not I think they are too clunky and don't look enough like Ranger suits to be considered Rangers. But I like the mecha. Don't let these toxic fans try and discourage you from checking out the rest of this kids show. I don't like people who behave that way towards novices like you. You just got here, and you're already getting hate from people who don't understand that they too were in the same boat as you.
@@DAMIENDMILLS The best part about Super Sentai is that you're allowed to not like even a whole season of it, and still be a fan. It's a franchise with hundreds of characters, dozens of teams, and thousands of bad guys. It'd be weirder if you didn't hate some part of it.
The reason that the Sentai suits are and feel familiar it's because Power Rangers back then adapted the Sentai footage for just the ground battles and the Mecha battles.
The inbetweens that look random are the extra characters. Some were replacements for actors that left the show midway through. Some are characters that only appeared in a handful of episodes but were still heroes in that season.
Then there's Beast Demon Hunter Zeek, who's suit only shows up in the movie, he ends up dying and passing his powers on to someone else, where she also only does stuff in the movie.
To answer your questions, Saban, the “creator” of PR used the fight scenes from Super Sentai, filmed the scenes with the American actors and just edited it all together 😅
32:58 the suits are supposed to be a callback to the past Sentai seasons. What would have been the red rangers his suits is supposed to be a throwback to the first sentai
Can't wait for someone to reveal to him that most of the "power rangers" fight scenes were just the Japanese footage dubbed over until like Lost Galaxy before they started doing half half where they would use half the footage and then recreate some (usually when the red ranger would get their visor broken, or fight against the American big bad) To give you a quick TLDR, Saban bought the rights to Super Sentai to air it in the west but instead of using the full shows because he thought that American audiences wouldn't be able to relate to Japanese culture and only Japanese actors him and his studio decided to write their own show, and splice it together with scenes of the show to save on budget and stuff. So all the way until the newer shows, for 90% of the time where you would see the rangers on screen, it wasn't the actors that played them. In many ways most the actors were pulling double duty being actors and voice actors at the same time. In Space was famous for starting to use its own footage for a good couple of episodes instead of using Japanese, for example with the Psyho Rangers, that was all American footage (that is the reason why they always fought them in abandoned construction sites during those episodes) Also in some seasons after lost Galaxy for a while they would also just kind of give up on writing their own show and copying most of the Japanese show's story, with Time Force being very similar to its Japanese counter part, before going back to create their own original stories.
Each super sentai season has around 50 episodes, and the seires has been going on for 50 years, and they release a new season evrey year, not even taking a 2 week brake between seasons, which leads to there being around 2000 episode of this show, and its safe to say it will continue to exist for another 50 years because of how popular it is
The Don Brothers are based on the Japanese folktale momotaro the Peach Boy the yellow ranger being based on the stories main villain the oni which is basically an ogre like demon
Fun fact dynaman would be the first sentai to use explosives during transformations and would keep this process today Edit: power rangers is usually adapted from super sentai, easy way to tell between stock footage and original footage. 1: look for height differences 2: look at the suits if the suits look shiny then thats stock japanese footage if the suit look like matte material then its original american footage
Fun fact: The team based on different countries is a co-production with Marvel following the live-action Spider-man show in Japan. That show is actually where mecha originated in Sentai with this season becoming the first Super Sentai. The show was originally conceived as a follow-up to Spider-man based on Captain America before becoming a Sentai. Battle Kenya is inspired by Black Panther and Miss America is based on and named after a sidekick to Captain America with the name later going to America Chavez. Marvel would continue to co-produce the following season of Sentai with the main villain based on Thor villain Hela.
I'm glad more and more people are finding out about this show existing. I know I felt amazing to see there are more Ranger shows out there for me to enjoy.
By the way, Power Rangers is a americanized-version of Super Sentai. Super Sentai came first (1975), and Power Rangers later. Super Sentai has 46 seasons in total (47 now, in 2023 - Ohsama Sentai King-Ohger, which is releasing). Power Rangers started adapting the show at season 16 (Zyuranger) - Mighty Morphin'. Also, Power Rangers skipped a few seasons recently, like ToQger, Zyuohger, Kyuranger, etc. To clear up some confusion: Power Rangers uses some Sentai scenes for fights and stuff. Power Rangers adapts a Sentai season, but sometimes they change stuff (plot, characters, transformation, etc)
Also, I know you grew up with Power Rangers, but please, don't talk about the Sentai like it is PR's copy, because it isn't. I know this might sound irrational or rude for you, but it kind of offends SS.
Also guys let's just stop the hate cause honestly I'm pretty sure alot of u if not all of u didn't know about Super Sentai. I also recently knew and got into Super Sentai and I didn't know for a long time that Super Sentai is the source material for Power Rangers. So let's chill with the hate and honestly let's just be happy that he's learning about super Sentai and what it is.
I'm not going to lie I was getting a little triggered at the start but then when he started asking what came first I was really happy because he's doesn't claim to know it.
while Mr. Saban is in Japan, he accidentally discover this kind of show and then he bought a franchise from Toei Company (which Super Sentai was aired) and changed it to "Power Ranger" just to be more attractive to western audiences. fun fact: "Sentai" means "League" or in other words "Ranger"
32:19 other non human Rangers are based on past megazord/robot Red- Original Megazord/ Daizyujin (MMPR) Yellow - Wild Force Megazord/Gaoking (Wild Force) Blue- Drivemax Megazord/ Daibouken ( Operation Overdrive) Pink - Titan megazord/ Magiking (Mystic Force) These rangers wear exactly same clothes as their past Sentai except the yellow one who wear vest like Taylor in Wild Force
46 Seasons, at least 47 Sentai due to Season 42 being a VS season. Started out interesting, became mid, final episode was cool, but ended on a cliffhanger that hasn’t been resolved by the events of RyuSoulger VS (LupinRanger vs PatRanger).
Donbrothers is a season with the best stories after 3 years of being treated to stories that make you sleepy Even though the costume design is too weird, especially with 2 CG members but the toy sales are selling very well in the market, especially the zord
the season that lightspeed rescue adopted from is called Go Go Five and the silver ranger you were referring too was the titanium Ranger. his character dose not have a sentai countor part he was made specifcly for power rangers lightspeed rescue because GoGo five never had a sixth ranger that seasons the closest they got was the two characters in the golden armor
If I remember right, Battle Fever J was originally going to be a Captain America adaptation similar to Japanese Spider-Man. Battle Japan and the others along with Cap were going to be a team. It eventually became it's own thing so technically Battle Fever J is part of Marvel >w> Overall, Super Sentai and Power Rangers are mostly their own thing. PR takes a lot of the fights from SS and then makes their own story. So you can essentially watch both and get a different experience. To me, I'd say start low with Power Rangers, move up to Super Sentai and then later Kamen Rider in terms of level of quality and story depth. I do wish these comps would show the Dark Sentai such as the Nejirangers along with the mains.
Some of the people between roll calls are extra characters who changed but barely got appearances. Like Jetman had a guy from a alternate dimension who could turn into a bird creature morph thing, but he was only in a couple episodes before the character died. During dairanger, saying it's becoming more martial arts related is because dairanger had more posing though. Maskman, dairanger, and gekiranger are the seasons with the most martial arts as the main theme of the year. The time force green ranger having the same hair is kind of a dumb joke in the show. He's actually a alien from a extinct planet. Red says, so that's why you have green hair? He says, no, I've always dyed it green. (Cue everyone having disbelief that it's not part of his physiology). Yes hurricanger and ninja storm both have brothers as a pair from a different ninja school than the main 3. Gokaiger had the character Gai have the ability to combine the go-onger gold and silver powers into one person, and he once borrowed red and green just so he could make a Christmas costume. It's so pointless. Kyoryuger, the guy "Asian Robert Downey Jr." is the voice of the morpher sound effects that season. The logic is he's pretty old and not good in battle, so after one episode, he hands off the power to his daughter. Kyoryuger is such a great season. It's a mix of serious and silly and the result is very entertaining. And saying you could travel across the world and have a cup of tea? Nothing was worse than JAKQ, the second season. They had to call in the building which gets dropped from a plane, enter the capsules which slowly go horizontal, plug into a machine, change, unplug, stand back up... it's been described as it's lucky half of Tokyo isn't destroyed by the time they get done.
Also, when I was little, I only knew about Power Rangers, but after I explored, I finally found out that Power Rangers are only adaptations of Super Sentai, so I tried Super Sentai and it turned out to be more original and better than Power Rangers, so maybe there are some better ones out there. adaptation of the original
I grew up also watching power rangers but I also enjoy watching super sentai, especially when power ranger seasons stopped airing for some time after RPM. That where I realized and noticed that power rangers are using some cotumed scenes or footages from super sentai because of the scenes that I have watched in the super sentai. Super sentai seasons aired first before being adapted to Power ranger seasons. By the way, these are the adaptations that PR did with their SS counterpart: MMPR Season 1 - Zyuranger 9:06 MMPR Season 2 - Dairanger 9:32 (although they did not have any costume changes but the plot and zords are used, especially the White Ranger) MMPR Season 3 - Kakuranger 10:30 (the ninja ranger from kakuranger are the Alien Rangers of Aquitar of this season of MMPR, and the blue guy is Ninjor in MMPR, the guy who gave new powers to Tommy and the team for the 3rd season) PR Zeo - OhRanger 11:19 PR Turbo - Carranger 11:55 (the black guy is the Phantom Ranger in PR Turbo) PR in Space - Megaranger 13:52 PR Lost Galaxy - Gingaman 14:32 (also the morpher of Mike in order to morph to Magna Defender is the changer or morpher that is used in Dairanger) PR Lightspeed Rescue - GoGo Five 14:52 (the Titanium Ranger from Lightspeed Rescue is an original ranger for PR series only, because they did want to adapt the 2 gold sentais from GoGo Five) PR Time Force - Timeranger 15:39 PR Wild Force - Gaoranger 16:32 PR Ninja Storm - Hurricanger 17:26 PR Dino Thunder - Abaranger 19:00 PR SPD - Dekaranger 19:10 PR Mystic Force - Magiranger 20:22 PR Operation Overdrive - Boukenger 21:22 PR Jungle Fury - Gekiranger 21:58 PR RPM - Go-Onger 22:31 PR Samurai & Super Samurai - Shinkenger 23:18 PR Megaforce - Goseiger 23:42 PR Super Megaforce - Gokaiger 24:10 (this series is pirate themed where the Gokaigers are space pirates who are hunting for treasures which are the powers of past Sentai teams in the form of ranger keys); (P.S. this adaptation of PR is the worst season adaptation in my opinion because the story of the season is very forced and they are also using Sentai teams that are not aired as power ranger adaptations) PR Dino Charge & Super Dino Charge - Kyoryuger 25:52 (this PR season is decent but when the way they called they called their zord formations does not fit to the formation footages & backgrounds because in the Kyoryuger, they have a specific name for specific formations; and also the Kyoryuger is not a parady season, they just incorporate dance or festival theme in this season, thus the reason for the dancing in the morphing sequence) PR Ninja Steel & Super Ninja Steel - Ninninger 28:21 PR Beast Morphers - GoBusters 25:05 PR Dino Fury Season 1 & 2 - Ryusoulger 30:54 PR Cosmic Fury - Kyuranger 29:41 (meant to be an original story but there are news that they will utilizing the zords from Kyuranger) Sorry for sharing all of these, I just became nostalgic after watching this video. 😁 Thank you for this @realtyky!
so i've binge watched all of Kamen Rider and Super Sentai in the span of a year so its crazy watching someone react to these only knowing power rangers. Goranger was the first sentai, and the transformation sequence was simply spinning or jumping in place as there were very little in mind for special effects at the time. JAKQ had the most unorthodox and inconvenient morphing method of having to use what is essentially a tanningbooth on their attack ship to activate their cyborg forms. Another interesting tidbit is that the first two sentai did not have a battle mecha, Both Gorenger and Jakq used a super jet to fight giant enemies. So BattleFever J was actually the first sentai to have a battle mecha or as you know them, a Megazord, I kid you not, they enter the robot through its codpiece. My friends refer to it as the cursed season because of those In fact the reason why we have megazords is because of the Japanese Live action Spider-man who had one and those toys were so successful they added them to sentai Denziman their powers were granted to them by a robotic Shiba Inu Sun Vulcan is interesting as its the first three man sentai and also one where their powers were granted by the millitary . Ranger powers come from either Magic, millitary, science or aliens. The lady Zoro character is the Chief's daughter and while having no powers of her own will provide assistance to the rangers from time to time Goggle V is a science squadron Dynaman is fun, It had originally been intended as a baseball-themed sentai, although it would later become a science-themed season. In 1987, six episodes were given a spoof dub and aired on the USA cable network under the simplified title Dynaman. It's funny that you mention the explosions, Dynaman was simply nicknamed "Kayaku Sentai" (火薬戦隊 with Kayaku meaning "gunpowder") by Japanese fans as a pun on the many explosions within the series. Producer Takayuki Suzuki even said the staff used the "highest quantity of gunpowder". In the west, that nickname is lost, but the prefix "Dyna" could be seen as an abbreviation of the word "Dynamite," therefore retaining the original meaning of the pun. You can find the dub on youtube, its cringe but a fun watch. Bioman is definitely a game changer for sentai, the budget went up and we also saw one of the few deaths in super sentai due to the original actress for the yellow ranger being difficult to work with on set, she was quickly written to be killed off and replaced. Flashman is interesting in that the overarcing sub plot is that the ranger's are kidnapped to various planets from earth as children, make it back and are trying to figure out their origins What's cool about Maskman is that the villainess's actress also plays bandora (Rita MMPR) and said the infamous headache line which gets repeated in Zyuranger Fiveman is one of my favorites because the team is brother and sister. You had asked about the sequence music, that is a background track of the opening theme. Dairanger the season after Zyuranger (MMPR) the focus was heavily on chinese martial arts and chi, interesting fact Kou's sword (MMPR Saba) spoke for him to protect his identity. I also feel like Saban missed an opportunity for toy sales by not grabbing the dairanger costumes for season two of MMPR. Kazu the yellow ranger uses a variation of Drunken Fist Yes the Kakuranger costumes should look familiar as they are the same ones used for the Mighty Morphin Alien Rangers of Aquatar. So Saban got the footage from Toei and dubbed over it for american audiences while adding american subplots. No Power Rangers media predates sentai. So one reason why Power Rangers Turbo had tanked was because saban had tried to take a parody season seriously. Carranger was a parody season. So GoGoV, the titanium ranger from Lightspeed rescue was a Saban creation, the snake tattoo subplot was used to explain his absence so they could save money on recording new footage. those two characters that you didn't recognize were from the GoGoV movie. the max Solarzord is actually a sentient mecha, GoGoV's 6th sibling created by their father. GoGoV has to be my favorite season because the rangers are brother and sister AND are rescue workers you weren't far off on timeranger, it actually came out in 2000, Yeah Trip and Sion are both aliens. Gaoranger was another anniversary season that they went all out on Hurricanger is fun, the kabuki motions are great, and yes just like the Thunder Ninjas, the Gouraigers are brothers too Dekaranger goes hard, especially the opening and ending themes, Dekabright is a Dekaranger Movie Exclusive Magiranger is another favorite of mine, you will notice that my favorites are ranger families. Yeah, if Saban/disney liked the effects they kept them, usually the only thing they changed was putting in the battleizers which eventually they stopped i believe? 23:10 is Go-onger/RPM so the "magicians" are actually Phantom Thiefs based on legendary thief Arsene Lupin Yeah sentai is still going, we're on #47 King Ohger Akibaranger is actually an unofficial sentai hopefully these were fun insights
I mean, yeah Turbo failed because they attempted to take a parody season seriously... but then they managed to take themselves really seriously with RPM. Which is based on Go-Onger, the ultimate parody season. Make it make sense.
@@nintendo3008 I counter that with "A computer virus has built armies of robotic soldiers and taken control of our world." You can tell just from the premise that they're taking themselves at least somewhat seriously.
each member of zenkaiger is symbolized other sentais in the past. the white one you prefer is the first sentai Goranger with himitsu no power (secret power). they have the number of the sentai they stand for, with the helmets are those sentai's meagazord (gattai)
Not sure if anyone said this yet but fun fact the light speed silver ranger is the first ranger made specifically for the American version, which is why he doesn’t appear in the sentai version
I cant disagree about ur take with Donbrothers' costume :( But the Donbrothers has one of the most popularity and saved super sentai as having a good story I hope you watch the whole series tho :)
if you look closely on zenkaiger. their helmets are from the megazord heads excluding zenkaizer for he portrays aka ranger from the first sentai..the red being mighty morphin megazord's head, yellow used wild force megazord, pink using mystic force megazord and blue using drivemax megazord..
I know a lot of people have said this but anyways, the reason that a lot of footage between sentai and power rangers is the same, is because PR takes the footage from sentai without alterations most of the time, PR original footage mainly comes from the scenes where the rangers are out of theirs suits. But battles with the suits and zords are taken directly from sentai, although there are times when they do film original footage with the suits, they will also sometimes take the morphing sequence. Also regarding the silver light speed ranger he is an American creation he doesn’t exist in sentai
Sentai did come first than powerangers, a lot of powerangers scenes are taken form the original material, but the narratives are wildly different; sentai tends to be more story driven than poweranger and the moster of the week.
It's alright to compare to Power Rangers. Because I did the same thing when I first learned about Sentai. I only had my own American frame of reference and was slowly learning about this incredible series
Big One fits into the category of sixth Ranger, I know there is originally only 4, but I think that is where his character place is. Super Sentai is way before Power Rangers. Saban just reused Sentai clips to do Power Rangers.
The Kaizou Sentai Gokaiger is the commemorative series of 35 years of the Super Sentai, where in the story 5 Wanted by the Galactic Police, Pirates become a sent team to defend the land of a extraterrestrial attack, they have the opportunity to use the powers, weapons and vehicles of the 34 super Sentai before Them.
There are 47 teams and my only best recommendation for you is to watch: 1. Dairanger (where White Ranger originated) 2. Kakuranger (from MMPR season 3) 3. Timeranger (Time Force) 4. Abaranger (Dino Thunder) 5. Dekaranger (SPD) 6. Gekiranger (Jungle Fury) 7. Shinkenger (Samurai) 8. Gokaiger (Megaforce 2) 9. Toqger (Express) 10. Kyuranger (if you really want to see the orange Scorpion Ranger) 11. Kiramager (Machine Crystal Rangers) All of them are subbed but it’s so hard to watch legally. Enjoy learning Super Sentai and don’t call them Power Rangers☺️🙏🏻

@@trashboat5388 power ranger doesn’t care about the theme but super sentai care about the theme and meaning and The atmosphere like:
King ohger, Kyuranger, Ryusoulger, Go-onger
Did somebody suggest Kamen Rider yet?
Returning again to give an explanation:
To jog your memory, Sentai comes before PR, as it’s an adaptation of it with the costumes and action footage being licensed out once the original has finished production.
Is the blue one supposed to a version of the gorilla from Go Busters?
@@markcruz359 No, Vroon is based on Boukengers
They only use 10% of the footage though.
@@markcruz359Donbrothers is based off the Japanese Folklore story of Momotaro who was born from a peach (Red) and along the way he befriends a talking Monkey (Blue) Dog (Black) and Pheasant (Pink)
Yellow is based off a Demon
@@jenniferlees9776 im open to give them all a go but the last one i've watch with subs was Gokaiger. I just cant find anywhere to watch it for free
(and ToQger, the train ones, can swap colors with each other also)
Also yes, SS is still going on.
I'm sure that will continue moving forward. As long as they have a corresponding ranger key they can transform into any team before or after them.
It's a play on words like how if ur pirating movies they're pirating the previous seasons
Kingohger 😍
New one at this point, as of time of writing, is a more back-to-basic vehicle based season.
Regarding your question, Japan did it first and then Saban takes the fight scenes and Mecha battles and uses their footage while adding teen drama in between. Some American shows have some exclusive things that the Japanese don't have and vice-versa.
I think power rangers took the ideas from Japan and then used it I’m still not sure am I right?
@@bhavanijayant526 basically all they took was the suit footage and megazord fights. Then they added their own plot and drama.

I also recommend Gokaiger, it's an anniversary season, and the theme is Pirates that have all the suits and powers of the previous 34 Sentai teams before them. It actually educates the viewer about the history of the show too.
Also, from what I heard, WAY better than Super Megaforce.
@@breezle7296 Um ... No. The actors and the suit actors were not the same.
@@jesseowenvillamor6348 there is some case where the actor is wearing the suit in Sentai but then changed it to double actor for safety
@@Alteewzx Yes, but only to set the illusion that it is the same person.
I was sad when I learned we would never get Dairanger adaptation because we used the White Ranger for MMPR.
Edit:
The Zenkaiger is their 45th anniversary series, so they made the 4 rangers look like the megazords of previous sentai.
Red is to represent the Zyuranger(Mighty Morphin) megazord
Yellow is to represnt the Gaoranger(Wild Force) megazord
Pink is to represent the Magiranger(Mystic Force) megazord
I dont know what Blue is, it's possibly the megazord from RPM or SPD
Blue represents to Boukenger (Operation Overdrive)
Actually, each represent a common 'theme' that Sentai uses, with them directly referencing a particular season that used that focus.
Red/Juran is Dinosaurs (taking #16, Zyuranger (Mighty Morphin' in the west) as a basis)
Yellow/Gaon is Animals (taking #25, Gaoranger (Wild Force in the west) as a basis)
Pink/Magine is Magic (taking #29, Magiranger (Mystic Force in the west) as a basis)
And Blue/Vroom is Vehicles (Taking #30, Boukenger (Operation Overdrive in the west) as a basis).
Donbrothers is a story of a legend named momotarou and his guardians
The cgi rangers is what makes it hard for me to watch it, but I am committed to finishing the series cause I like the characters
The only sentai that i watched till end
Where can i watch sentai shows for free?
7:50 the turborangers (the ones you just saw at that time) are teenagers
Not all Sentai are made of teenagers, but they're often quite young
Thank you I appreciate you letting me know
The Japanese shows were first, and then the Power Rangers equivalent of that show came a year after
That not right that not right, a better explanation would be power rangers exist when they adapted the 16th sentai zyuranger
not roasting, but I'm gonna go heavy on the seasoning anyway
the first 2 season are affected by what is called "early entry weirdness", one of the biggest difference is that they do not have a megazord. the third serie was worked on by Stan Lee (see Japanese Spiderman for more notes) and the base idea was "capitan america and his super friends", then modified into battle fever. Stan also introduced the concept of "take down the monsters, he grows giant, take down again using the megazord" in the serie
up to a few years back, the continuity was "everything happens in the same world, but not consequencially"; the big example is between season34 (the angels) and 35 (the pirates). the former serie ended the 6 of febbruary, the latter started feb 13, and in both seasons you see physical calendar and there's references to the current dates. during this 7 IRL days, in the fiction there is 6 moths skip to the post season movie for 34, a 3months of uninterrupted war after that, then a 3 year treasure hunt across the galaxy to set up the backstory of season 35, and a couple of weeks of travel from space to earth as shown in the introduction for the first episode. again, all this in a week.
after that, the serie went to a multiverse setup to avoid headaches, and for now it's sticking with it
the random clips on the older sentai are the extra allies. zyuranger is the first seeason to have a consistent sixth member, but before then the concept was used for storyarcs and single episodes
yeah, SPD got the better furry by far. the fully red ranger that appears for the anniversaries is Akared (roughly translate to Redcrimson). he exist to be fanservice and sometime a plotpoint. last time he cropped up, he needed to be dead for the plot, and it's unclear if he came back already or not
zenkaiser and donbrothers are AGGRESSIVELY japanese. the period 2019-2022 is full of singificant anniversaries for the industry, so they went full-on referencial, here you can see it in zenkaiser, which ranger forms are the megazords from a few key series. both seasons go hard on using the powers from previus seasons, similar to the pirates
the last one shown is a self-parodying serie that ran concurrently to the 35, the unofficial sentai team, akibaranger. they use the power of mental films to fight an enemy that is trying to become real and defent akihabara. the grunts are litteral accountants
Because he's AMERICAN!

With Donbrothers you have to be a fan of Sentai for a few years to understand the craziness, or you'll only be more confused. Because it's a wild festival and I don't think a beginner can handle it, especially since their black and pink ranger is mostly CG. But I like that honest reaction.
Wild festival?

Another thing I enjoy with this show is just how unapologetic it can be with the wacky designs of the suits and mecha. This is a fantasy series overall. Anything goes. One season, cars can talk, another season, you can have a dog as your boss, and another you can literally transform yourself into a giant mecha. It's great in the variety department. There's a little something for everyone to enjoy.
And in some seasons (looking at you Liveman) there can be ridiculous amounts of murder in the first episode!
@@KingCasual1986 I mean murder is not uncommon with Sentai. I remember the first episode of Goranger showed people getting mowed down with AR's.

Japanese kids shows are not afraid to be more violent and make more sexual innuendos
So
The red one represents the boy
Blue is the monkey
Yellow is the demon
Pink is pheasant
Black is the dog
Another reason I liked Super Sentai is the Girls... They are Cute and BEAUTIFULLY GORGEOUS!!
Kirin Ranger, the yellow Dairanger, uses drunken boxing as his fighting style. Kirin is also a Japanese beer brand, and its mascot is a yellow kirin, so the yellow ranger did was actually the drunken style, at 9:50
Each season of Sentai is different, and rarely ever connect previous ones besides for Anniversary seasons and specials.
So, Power Rangers is of course, using Sentai as its source material. Not just costumes and general ideas, but also literally splicing japanese footage into the american shows. That's why so much looks so similar. That's also why in Power Rangers, the characters personalities seem to change completely based on whether or not they're in costume (In Space is a great example of this, as Andros was this super serious edgy boy, but MegaRed was a hyper man-child)
The group that was directly after the source for MMPR was Dairanger, which MMPR used the Kibaranger costume for the White Ranger, and used the mecha from Dairanger for the Thunder Zords in MMPR season 2.
Though they do show some clips of the "Doubutsu Sentai Go-Busters" battle against their AU villains before they too fall to the movie villain and then both Tokumei Sentai Go-Busters and Doubutsu Sentai Go-Busters work together to beat him.
i like watching pure power ranger fan watching sentai's footage like a caveman discovering fire
Good u will like it
Like where did you get that idea from?? I have feeling you trying to drama bait. Your comment is the complete opposite to what he saying
@@alihew8987 sentai is good
No one thinks that dude, and even if they did, who cares? Sentai speaks for itself, you don't have to tell people to stop this or that, like cmon man.
i have never seen anyone come in here with an opinion so directly opposed to the general fanbase, it's almost kind of impressive
liking the Zyuohger suits despite them being plain spandex print with nothing really going on, disliking the Gokaiger, Zenkaiger, and Donbrothers' suits, some of the most popular and well liked out of the whole franchise. (it'd be more accurate to say that they've never been more succesful, instead of saying that they've lost their touch)
if nothing else, that's a brave stance, i respect it
I did not know that fact about the suits so thank you for that!
Wait, people don’t like the Zyuohger suits? Odd, they’re my second favorite Sentai suit (first is a tie between Magiranger and Kyuuranger).
Is it still going? Yes. We're now past Donbrothers with Kingoher, which is all about Kings, swords and bugs.
To answer your questions, Saban, the “creator” of PR used the fight scenes from Super Sentai, filmed the scenes with the American actors and just edited it all together 😅
Gokaiger(the ones you referred to as Yugioh characters) was done dirty in PR though because Super Megaforce was terrible 😅
32:58 the suits are supposed to be a callback to the past Sentai seasons. What would have been the red rangers his suits is supposed to be a throwback to the first sentai
Can't wait for someone to reveal to him that most of the "power rangers" fight scenes were just the Japanese footage dubbed over until like Lost Galaxy before they started doing half half where they would use half the footage and then recreate some (usually when the red ranger would get their visor broken, or fight against the American big bad)
To give you a quick TLDR, Saban bought the rights to Super Sentai to air it in the west but instead of using the full shows because he thought that American audiences wouldn't be able to relate to Japanese culture and only Japanese actors him and his studio decided to write their own show, and splice it together with scenes of the show to save on budget and stuff. So all the way until the newer shows, for 90% of the time where you would see the rangers on screen, it wasn't the actors that played them. In many ways most the actors were pulling double duty being actors and voice actors at the same time. In Space was famous for starting to use its own footage for a good couple of episodes instead of using Japanese, for example with the Psyho Rangers, that was all American footage (that is the reason why they always fought them in abandoned construction sites during those episodes)
Also in some seasons after lost Galaxy for a while they would also just kind of give up on writing their own show and copying most of the Japanese show's story, with Time Force being very similar to its Japanese counter part, before going back to create their own original stories.
Some are teenagers. Others are either young adults or centuries old due to either being frozen in time or from other planets and dimensions.
Cool fact: Changeman and flashman aired in Brazil in the 80’s and it was a HUGE success
Bioman , Maskman, during the late 1980's, my time and my childhood even before saban's PR appear
The Titanium Ranger from Lightspeed Rescue is the First American Made Ranger. The Sentai counterpart, GoGo-V (GoGo-Five), had no sixth ranger.
Fun fact dynaman would be the first sentai to use explosives during transformations and would keep this process today
Edit: power rangers is usually adapted from super sentai, easy way to tell between stock footage and original footage. 1: look for height differences 2: look at the suits if the suits look shiny then thats stock japanese footage if the suit look like matte material then its original american footage
Gokaiger was the equivalent of Super Megaforce with the ability to use old powers, and Gokai Silver had the additional ability to combine Keys.
"It's losing it's touch; it's too creative." I couldn't have said it better myself. It just not the same anymore.
Turboranger is the first Sentai with highschooler members.. and the next team is (fireman) a group of teacher who is also siblings
Super Sentai, recently, have a new series almost every year. 😁
I'm not going to lie I was getting a little triggered at the start but then when he started asking what came first I was really happy because he's doesn't claim to know it.
while Mr. Saban is in Japan, he accidentally discover this kind of show and then he bought a franchise from Toei Company (which Super Sentai was aired) and changed it to "Power Ranger" just to be more attractive to western audiences.
fun fact:
"Sentai" means "League" or in other words "Ranger"
32:19 other non human Rangers are based on past megazord/robot
Red- Original Megazord/ Daizyujin (MMPR)
Yellow - Wild Force Megazord/Gaoking (Wild Force)
Blue- Drivemax Megazord/ Daibouken ( Operation Overdrive)
Pink - Titan megazord/ Magiking (Mystic Force)
These rangers wear exactly same clothes as their past Sentai except the yellow one who wear vest like Taylor in Wild Force
Akibarangers is a two-season series that makes SATIRE of super Sentai series.
46 Seasons, at least 47 Sentai due to Season 42 being a VS season. Started out interesting, became mid, final episode was cool, but ended on a cliffhanger that hasn’t been resolved by the events of RyuSoulger VS (LupinRanger vs PatRanger).
Actually, Lupinranger vs Patranger is a single season, it does not count as two. Also, season 47 is releasing this year (Ohsama Sentai King-Ohger)
It didn't end on a cliffhanger, it was directly followed up by the events of the Final Live Tour after the series finished
@@samusipebs but Lupinranger and patranger are different team so they can count as two seperate Sentai in the same season
@@asukashin8064 They are different teams, but they are the same season.
@@samusipebs i know but still we can count them as two Sentai team :)
i recommend u watch the lupinranger vs patranger series its good thief police chase ranger version
Unlike Power Rangers, most Super Sentai teams are adults.
Donbrothers is a season with the best stories after 3 years of being treated to stories that make you sleepy
Even though the costume design is too weird, especially with 2 CG members but the toy sales are selling very well in the market, especially the zord
the season that lightspeed rescue adopted from is called Go Go Five and the silver ranger you were referring too was the titanium Ranger. his character dose not have a sentai countor part he was made specifcly for power rangers lightspeed rescue because GoGo five never had a sixth ranger that seasons the closest they got was the two characters in the golden armor
If I remember right, Battle Fever J was originally going to be a Captain America adaptation similar to Japanese Spider-Man. Battle Japan and the others along with Cap were going to be a team. It eventually became it's own thing so technically Battle Fever J is part of Marvel >w>
Overall, Super Sentai and Power Rangers are mostly their own thing.
They had to call in the building which gets dropped from a plane, enter the capsules which slowly go horizontal, plug into a machine, change, unplug, stand back up... it's been described as it's lucky half of Tokyo isn't destroyed by the time they get done.
awesom Super sentai not controparts 😍 Donbrothers 😍😍😍
Also, when I was little, I only knew about Power Rangers, but after I explored, I finally found out that Power Rangers are only adaptations of Super Sentai, so I tried Super Sentai and it turned out to be more original and better than Power Rangers, so maybe there are some better ones out there. adaptation of the original
😂😂32:10 bro this is the best Part im laughing and crying seeing your reaction😂🤣
I grew up also watching power rangers but I also enjoy watching super sentai, especially when power ranger seasons stopped airing for some time after RPM. That where I realized and noticed that power rangers are using some cotumed scenes or footages from super sentai because of the scenes that I have watched in the super sentai. Super sentai seasons aired first before being adapted to Power ranger seasons.
By the way, these are the adaptations that PR did with their SS counterpart:
MMPR Season 1 - Zyuranger 9:06
MMPR Season 2 - Dairanger 9:32 (although they did not have any costume changes but the plot and zords are used, especially the White Ranger)
MMPR Season 3 - Kakuranger 10:30 (the ninja ranger from kakuranger are the Alien Rangers of Aquitar of this season of MMPR, and the blue guy is Ninjor in MMPR, the guy who gave new powers to Tommy and the team for the 3rd season)
PR Zeo - OhRanger 11:19
PR Turbo - Carranger 11:55 (the black guy is the Phantom Ranger in PR Turbo)
PR in Space - Megaranger 13:52
PR Lost Galaxy - Gingaman 14:32 (also the morpher of Mike in order to morph to Magna Defender is the changer or morpher that is used in Dairanger)
PR Lightspeed Rescue - GoGo Five 14:52 (the Titanium Ranger from Lightspeed Rescue is an original ranger for PR series only, because they did want to adapt the 2 gold sentais from GoGo Five)
PR Time Force - Timeranger 15:39
PR Wild Force - Gaoranger 16:32
PR Ninja Storm - Hurricanger 17:26
PR Dino Thunder - Abaranger 19:00
PR SPD - Dekaranger 19:10
PR Mystic Force - Magiranger 20:22
PR Operation Overdrive - Boukenger 21:22
PR Jungle Fury - Gekiranger 21:58
PR RPM - Go-Onger 22:31
PR Samurai & Super Samurai - Shinkenger 23:18
PR Megaforce - Goseiger 23:42
PR Super Megaforce - Gokaiger 24:10 (this series is pirate themed where the Gokaigers are space pirates who are hunting for treasures which are the powers of past Sentai teams in the form of ranger keys); (P.S. this adaptation of PR is the worst season adaptation in my opinion because the story of the season is very forced and they are also using Sentai teams that are not aired as power ranger adaptations)
PR Dino Charge & Super Dino Charge - Kyoryuger 25:52 (this PR season is decent but when the way they called they called their zord formations does not fit to the formation footages & backgrounds because in the Kyoryuger, they have a specific name for specific formations; and also the Kyoryuger is not a parady season, they just incorporate dance or festival theme in this season, thus the reason for the dancing in the morphing sequence)
PR Ninja Steel & Super Ninja Steel - Ninninger 28:21
PR Beast Morphers - GoBusters 25:05
PR Dino Fury Season 1 & 2 - Ryusoulger 30:54
PR Cosmic Fury - Kyuranger 29:41 (meant to be an original story but there are news that they will utilizing the zords from Kyuranger)
Sorry for sharing all of these, I just became nostalgic after watching this video. 😁 Thank you for this @realtyky!
I like how he starts getting disappointed around 26:08 because of how childish they became. And yes the ones after 2010 are way more childish
so i've binge watched all of Kamen Rider and Super Sentai in the span of a year so its crazy watching someone react to these only knowing power rangers.
My friends refer to it as the cursed season because of those
In fact the reason why we have megazords is because of the Japanese Live action Spider-man who had one and those toys were so successful they added them to sentai
Denziman their powers were granted to them by a robotic Shiba Inu
Sun Vulcan is interesting as its the first three man sentai and also one where their powers were granted by the millitary . Ranger powers come from either Magic, millitary, science or aliens. The lady Zoro character is the Chief's daughter and while having no powers of her own will provide assistance to the rangers from time to time
Goggle V is a science squadron
Dynaman is fun, It had originally been intended as a baseball-themed sentai, although it would later become a science-themed season.
Flashman is interesting in that the overarcing sub plot is that the ranger's are kidnapped to various planets from earth as children, make it back and are trying to figure out their origins
What's cool about Maskman is that the villainess's actress also plays bandora (Rita MMPR) and said the infamous headache line which gets repeated in Zyuranger
Fiveman is one of my favorites because the team is brother and sister.
Kazu the yellow ranger uses a variation of Drunken Fist
Yes the Kakuranger costumes should look familiar as they are the same ones used for the Mighty Morphin Alien Rangers of Aquatar.
GoGoV has to be my favorite season because the rangers are brother and sister AND are rescue workers
you weren't far off on timeranger, it actually came out in 2000, Yeah Trip and Sion are both aliens.
Gaoranger was another anniversary season that they went all out on
Hurricanger is fun, the kabuki motions are great, and yes just like the Thunder Ninjas, the Gouraigers are brothers too
Dekaranger goes hard, especially the opening and ending themes, Dekabright is a Dekaranger Movie Exclusive
Magiranger is another favorite of mine, you will notice that my favorites are ranger families.
Yeah, if Saban/disney liked the effects they kept them, usually the only thing they changed was putting in the battleizers which eventually they stopped i believe?
23:10 is Go-onger/RPM
so the "magicians" are actually Phantom Thiefs based on legendary thief Arsene Lupin
Yeah sentai is still going, we're on #47 King Ohger
Akibaranger is actually an unofficial sentai
hopefully these were fun insights
I mean, yeah Turbo failed because they attempted to take a parody season seriously... but then they managed to take themselves really seriously with RPM. Which is based on Go-Onger, the ultimate parody season. Make it make sense.
@@SpringStarFangirl I’m SCOTISH
@@nintendo3008 I counter that with "A computer virus has built armies of robotic soldiers and taken control of our world." You can tell just from the premise that they're taking themselves at least somewhat seriously.
alternate title of video "tell me you don't get super sentai without telling me"
each member of zenkaiger is symbolized other sentais in the past. the white one you prefer is the first sentai Goranger with himitsu no power (secret power). they have the number of the sentai they stand for, with the helmets are those sentai's meagazord (gattai)
Not sure if anyone said this yet but fun fact the light speed silver ranger is the first ranger made specifically for the American version, which is why he doesn’t appear in the sentai version
47 series currently with a parody and one season has a continuation in Korea
Fun fact most the fighting footage you see used in power rangers are from super sentai
22:50 This was used for Power Rangers RPM
Zenkaiger not to bad huh 🗿
Edit
Bruhh donbrothers to what's wrong man
It's supposed to based from mythology so they look like that 🗿
I cant disagree about ur take with Donbrothers' costume :(
But the Donbrothers has one of the most popularity and saved super sentai as having a good story I hope you watch the whole series tho :)
The latest Super sentai is: Ohsama Sentai King-Ohger
And the upcoming sentai series is Boomboomgers and it's announced in september 11 2023
if you look closely on zenkaiger. their helmets are from the megazord heads excluding zenkaizer for he portrays aka ranger from the first sentai..the red being mighty morphin megazord's head, yellow used wild force megazord, pink using mystic force megazord and blue using drivemax megazord..
Hey man keep up the good work I'm glad your seeing what us fans loved since we were small. I'm happy more people are seeing the greatness of tokusatsu
Also sentais are not strictly obligated to be teenagers, there are a sentais that are teenagers but there’s also a lot that are adults
Sentai did come first than powerangers, a lot of powerangers scenes are taken form the original material, but the narratives are wildly different; sentai tends to be more story driven than poweranger and the moster of the week.
In all honesty, how can you not know about super sentai in 2023...
Super Sentai pretty much is a yearly tradition
It's alright to compare to Power Rangers. Because I did the same thing when I first learned about Sentai. I only had my own American frame of reference and was slowly learning about this incredible series
the pyrotechnics in these shows are some of the best
Big One fits into the category of sixth Ranger, I know there is originally only 4, but I think that is where his character place is. Super Sentai is way before Power Rangers. Saban just reused Sentai clips to do Power Rangers.
Usually, Saban takes the sentai footage and adds the actor's Voice acting on it......
The Titanium Ranger from Lightspeed Rescue is an American exclusive Ranger which had no counterpart in the Sentai.
Zenkaiger is Super Sentai's 45th anniversary commemorative series.
There are 47 teams and my only best recommendation for you is to watch:
1. Dairanger (where White Ranger originated)
2. Kakuranger (from MMPR season 3)
3. Timeranger (Time Force)
4. Abaranger (Dino Thunder)
5. Dekaranger (SPD)
6. Gekiranger (Jungle Fury)
7. Shinkenger (Samurai)
8. Gokaiger (Megaforce 2)
9. Toqger (Express)
10. Kyuranger (if you really want to see the orange Scorpion Ranger)
11. Kiramager (Machine Crystal Rangers)
All of them are subbed but it’s so hard to watch legally. Enjoy learning Super Sentai and don’t call them Power Rangers☺️🙏🏻
2. Kakuranger (from MMPR season 3) [Alien Rangers]
