      RV Texas Y'all just a thing to maybe try. Slice into your porkbutt about 1/2” deep in a crosshatch pattern all over top and sides. Then rub it down. As it cooks it shrinks and those slices become valleys that create more bark and flavor. That pork butt looked amazing and i look forward to retiring and traveling the u.s. cheers

    I'm a fellow Texan and enjoy your videos. Had the Davy Crockett a while now and absolutely love it. My neighbor in this RV park (FL) saw it and was head over heels for it, ordered one and got it 2 days ago. We love Palo Duro and when I saw the beginning of the video told my wife that was where it was and of course you confirmed it - I had not seen the little descriptor saying that's where it was...:) As an aside your looks and mannerisms are SO similar to my best friend that moved to CO 20+ years ago. He liked making videos in the old days. Keep up the good work -got a butt going on tomorrow.

    Great video. Have you considered doing a hot and fast butt on you gmg dc? Until recently I was a low and slow guy. I did a 7lb butt at 325 on my recteq 340 and it finished in about 4 hours. I wrapped it in butcher paper after about 2-3 hours when the bark reached the color I wanted. Then let it go until it hit 200. Then I wrapped it in foil over the butcher paper and put it in a toweled cooler to rest for a few hours. I was very pleased with the results.

    I’ve smoked a lot of briskets and I find the best temp is 220 degrees. For a 14 pound brisket I usually smoke it for around 10/12 hours. Last month I did a turkey and it turned out delicious. Keep up the smokin on the D/C and you will use it all the time.

    I've had my GMG DC for 6 years! LOVE it! Just did a 12lb brisket at LVMS NASCAR races. Had to cut it into sections to fit it, Tetras skills tested. Results were amazing, burnt ends mmmm. One thing to note, the grill can be setup with profiles for different cooks. I used the KC Brisket profile and an apple juice / Worcestershire sauce mix. It's a small portable grill that can handle some big jobs!

    • @rvamericayall

      Very easy to make pickles. Pick up a package of Mrs. Wages 1 step pickle mix and pour it over some sliced or (spears) cucumbers and refrigerate. It makes 1 pint and so easy. Several different flavors to choose from. You can find the mix in the canning area of the store or online. I made some of the kosher dill and added some garlic cloves and red pepper flakes.

    I smoked 2 butts last weekend (one was 9 lb and the other 11 lb). I always smoke overnight at 200F for between 9 and 12 hours. And I put a large Dutch oven of water in the lower rack so the cooking is moist. The longer and slower cook time allows the connective tissue to ‘melt’. All my basting is in the last 2-3 hours or the mop tends to burn rather than permeate the meet. Nice portable smoker! I have 3 smokers but they are progressively larger and not really portable.

    You will be eating good for two or three more days off that seven pound roast and you didnt heat up the interior of your RV while cooking. Yes, we liked this video. Could smell it cooking all the way down here in southern Mexico.

    Howdy folks, just found your channel and very much enjoyed your 2 videos about the Davy Crockett grill. I've owned mine about 6 months now and have grilled pork butt, chicken, 2 at a time in an aluminum pan for easy cleanup, baby back ribs, cedar plank salmon and a host of other things, even cold smoked cheese. I love my Davy Crockett Green Mountain Grill. Ain't never grilled corn on the cob though, I'll just have to try that. I reckon I'll have to subscribe to your channel as well. You put a smile on my face. Thanks

    • @rvamericayall
      @rvamericayall  4 роки тому

      Great point George. The Green Mountain Grill creates its own wi-fi. We’ve used it in areas without a signal and have not had a problem.

      You can do point to point connection without having internet. The grill connects directly to your phone and doesn't use any wifi or internet signal. So essentially blue tooth but you have to be some what close

    A key thing I have not noticed in any Davy Crockett/Trek presentation is that though it’s called a grill all mentioned smoker…even through it’s a grill too…..but how to grill with much less smoke?? …charcoal type pellets.

    I bet you sell at least one of these every time you go camping. I know when we go RV camping and folks ask me about my GMG DC they soon after say I'm going to buy one now. I think Green Mountain Grill should reach out to RV influencers because talking about these little pits around the campground sells themselves. Great job on the pork butt. Deuces.

    Tip: your meat temp was 43 degrees when you 1st stuck in the probe. Try pulling your meat out of refrig ahead of time. Let meat sit out at room temp for awhile. Will drastically cut down on your cooking time.
