I've figured out a consistent way to cancel ripostes, but I haven't found a way to do it that doesn't force a parry. It doesn't seem useful in 1v1, but perhaps it could be applied to 1vX. Have you figured out how to do this, or would you be interested in learning?
you can't feint a riposte
@@Stouty Ah, but you can. Sort of. Like I said, I haven't found a way to do it that doesn't force a parry.
Here's how to execute: during a riposte windup (it has to be the windup, so it's easier to do with slower weapons), press kick (it won't do anything) then press parry (I have Feint or Parry bound to RMB). Executing all of the above will cancel your riposte and and initiate a parry.
I can show you if you don't believe me.
@@AngryLygas yeah i know you can just double press rmb to parry out of riposte, but you can't feint it. It's an intended mechanic to help in 1vX
@@Stouty Oh shit, all I had to be doing was double-press RMB? Embarrassing.
@@AngryLygas not really, it's an obscure mechanic for us feint-or-parry users. Other people just press rmb to parry in riposte, but that interrupts our playstyle by making us parry unintentionally when we instead try to feint but mistime the window and riposte instead. So instead crush added a buffer rmb which does nothing when pressed once and then a 2nd rmb parries. Pretty clever solution

Last night I had stouty in my dream. He was in a boxing ring that was leveled with the ground and he had boxing gloves fighting some other really aggressive dude. The dude had hit him in the shoulder real hard and stouty backed up and touched his shoulder and went "ouch" with a mildly annoyed look on his face. Then the aggressive dude got really close to him and stouty just punched him 3 times in the face with high speed and precision BANG BANG BANG, and the dude fell. Next thing I know everyone gathered around stouty as they cheered and congratulated him. I tried to talk to him but he didn't even see me from all the people around him.
Man I cant wait for Bannerlord so Mordhau phases out and we can have an actual good medieval combat game other than Warband
