It’s baffling that we even entertain or spend any energy discussing Trump and his outlandish claims, like Canada being the 51st state. As a proud Canadian, it’s hard not to feel both frustrated and amused by such remarks. Canada is a nation built on values like inclusivity, respect, and diversity-qualities that define us and set us apart on the global stage. To reduce our identity to a mere extension of another country is not just insulting but fundamentally ignorant of the history, culture, and sovereignty that Canadians hold dear. Our relationship with the United States has always been complex. While we share a border and maintain close ties through trade and diplomacy, we are distinct in our approach to governance, healthcare, education, and even how we treat one another. We’ve cultivated a unique identity that reflects our values, from our universal healthcare system to our multicultural ethos. For someone like Trump to trivialize that with careless, ego-driven rhetoric only highlights his lack of understanding of the world beyond his own bubble. The suggestion of Canada being the 51st state isn’t just ridiculous-it’s dismissive of our independence and the sacrifices of those who fought to build and protect this country. Canadians are deeply proud of our history, our institutions, and our role as a global leader in promoting peace and sustainability. We’re not perfect, but we stand tall as a nation that values fairness and community over division and chaos. It’s tempting to dismiss comments like these as just more noise, but they also underscore the importance of standing firm in our identity. Canadians are polite, yes, but we’re also fiercely protective of what makes us unique. We don’t need validation from anyone, least of all from someone whose understanding of Canada seems limited to stereotypes and soundbites. So, while it’s frustrating to hear these remarks, they ultimately serve as a reminder of how strong and resilient Canada is as a nation. We don’t need to justify our sovereignty or dignity to anyone-we embody it every day through our actions and values. Let the noise fade into the background while we continue to move forward as a country that others look to with admiration and respect.

It will not be joining the US and the Crown will be held responsible for seeing that the treaties signed will be honoured. Well, not saying or speaking for anyone. Hypothetically; if Canadians wanted it to become the 51th state, it will be The People that make that decision. Not your government. Canadians will fall under The Bill Of Rights, then The Constitution; this will have to be the people of Canada's decision to make, alone. Community by community. Not much would change but Canada's rights.
If u.s. starts a 15% tariff on Canada & sticks to it, at some point Canada would have no choice but do whatever u.s. says or starve to death. I think breaking Canada up into multiple states would make more sense. The world has started a global shift. When Russia invaded Ukraine it gave thought to other countries that could benefit from doing the same, add in world debt & worldwide recession or depression & WW3 & the planet comes out looking much different. Just look back at Polland.
No they won't. The majority of Canada's exports are natural resources, such as crude oil, refined petroleum, gold, and minerals. If the US doesn't want to buy these things there are many other countries that will.

The Only thing we are proud of is universal free health care and I am sure if a deal could be arranged where we keep free health care we would jump on the USA wagon.
Interesting point. Canada would be a pretty easy fit since it already culturally very similar to the US and closely integrated economically. Mexico would be a little more difficult although Mexicans are basically Spanish-speaking versions of Americans with their hard-drinking, hard-eating, independent ways (not to mention that there are already 38 million people of Mexican descent in the US already which is close to the Canadian population of 41 million).

No
@@thatswhatithought6519 "No" - that is the right answer.
@@putler965 Canada could always sell or otherwise cede control of some ports to the Chinese like Panama. That would really miff Trump.
That this can even be a point of discussion shows you how poorly Trudeau has governed
First US must be split on Mississipi river. Then US may annex Ontario and Quebec maybe.
Let's Make Canada Great Again!
Let’s have you move to the USA since you love their slogans so much. Canada never stopped being great
Must be a really slow news day if you’re giving this airtime. 😂😂😂
That mountain is the Matterhorn it’s not in Canada
Maple Leaf Forever 🍁
We would be 13 states and trend blue.
That will be your right.
Never says Canada,never !!!!
Trump baited the media in in a huge way 😂😂
You know what they say... Many a truth are spoken in jest..
This is jook this wuold never ever happen ever f Donald Trump
Stupid click-bait.
I’ve Hurd Canadians say this too
As a Canadian, I say we should become part of the U.S. We willingly sold our economy and security to the U.S over the past decades. We really might as well now.
Never ever. I’d rather kiss the kings hand. Common wealth for ever.
Some of us DO want to become the 51st state. A lot of us (including me) are already American citizens as well as being Canadian. I think we both have a lot to gain.
Goooooood for you. Stay there.
Is your poll east vs West or just Ontario
Ontario is the largest province and feel like they are Canada but the West is very much American BC with Washington Alberta with Texas and Saskatchewan Manitoba like Montana Dakota.
The Only thing we are proud of is universal free health care and I am sure if a deal could be arranged where we keep free health care we would jump on the USA wagon.
One turbonator is keeping Canada hostage for his pension 😂
Take Mexico first
Interesting point.
Would Canadians be willing to give up their health care?
NEVER !!!!!!
Why would Canadians have to give up there healthcare?
Do canadians really think so?can any canadian here tell me what do u think of this proposal?
We would join the European before the United States and we would have to build a military beyond compared. Expand the French foreign legion than more than 7000 members I know for a fact that France let's Canadians join. 30,000 French foreign legion trained combat soldiers stationed in Canada part of a Untied force remember many Canadians speak French and have French Irish and other European ancestors. France is not that far from Newfoundland.
Do you think Canada could handle the influx of refugees it would see by attaching itself to Europe. Europe is moving right because of this.
Trump should have done Stand up Comedy, then his Dementia wouldn't be a problem. If Musk joins the act with his Advertising skit it could actually be amusing. 😂
United North America is a true destiny
I thought you guys hated Mexicans?
I thought you guys disliked Mexicans?
Great report Bravo !!
52 is much more balanced.
Well if Canada did merge. You guys will have the right to separate and make a different state. It's in our laws.
A Canada 🇨🇦 USA 🇺🇸 merger would form a hyper powered nation on planet earth. It’s a fantastic idea! Iran, Russia, and China wouldn’t stand a chance.
The US would then have a State in the Commonwealth.
An American Canada would leave the Commonwealth by default
@ No thanks.
I’m a Canadian. I don’t mind of turning Canada into the 51-st state. Donald Trump is the best. Glory to Trump.
Old news!
