FYI, for me, the Chest in the dungeon-maze that's within the maze was different. The key was in a chest in the screen below. Must be random? Still, your guide has been essential so far! Brutally hard game, albeit very forgiving save mechanic of course
Are you using an emulator? Looks great! Thanks for the guide. I consider this game the precursor to the original Legend of Zelda, so its good to see it get recent recognition.
@@Byrnage which emulator? It's not crappy at all, IMO. I think most people who don't like it simply can't appreciate it in it's historical context. It plays like an arcade game trying to be just a bit more and that was practically unheard of during it's time. So I agree with you.
@@MalabarTheGreat I'm honestly not sure. I remember having issues emulating correctly. I think i used Retroarch but had to change settings to get the game to run at the right speed.
I can't do the two wizard thing to get to the dragon/castle. Also Hypers don't spawn for me when I kill all the slimes, I only get Ropers and they offer 0 xp. Any tips anyone?
If you only get ropers then it should be the same version in this video in which case you have to get hit by 5 fireballs and then kill a wizard. If you kill anything at all before getting hit with 5 fireballs or if you leave the screen, you'll have to start over. If you have a version where you have the wave magic then you have to hit both wizards with that, but that shouldn't be the case because versions with magic should have hypers.
@@Byrnage Awesome, thank you so much. I really appreciate the fast response. Just one more thing though please. What should I kill to level up after level 7 as nothing gives me xp?
This video helped me immensely on are search project I'm doing. For that I thank you!
Third option after the Vampire: Go to the roper maze and farm those to level 5ish, first. Much easier than the zombies, and faster, too.
Yes,this game is the Legend of Zelda foundation, everything on this game inspired the Zelda lore and gameplay.
Thanks so much! I'm going to give this an earnest playthrough

I did use an emulator. This game has a reputation for being a terrible game but i love it and think it was a great game for its time.

@@jamesdee4773 The stuff inside the castle on the island that you get teleported to when you get the third fairy.
What's the utility of the rubies ?
The ruby will reveal a chest later in the drained river section.
@@Byrnage Thanks ^_^
( I'm making a comparatif between the first Zelda and the first Hydlide to find similarities )
