McAllen is the largest city in Hidalgo County, Texas, United States, and the 22nd-most populous city in Texas. It is located at the southern tip of the state in the Rio Grande Valley, on the Mexico-United States border. The city limits extend south to the Rio Grande, across from the Mexican city of Reynosa. McAllen is about 70 mi (110 km) west of the Gulf of Mexico. As of the 2020 census, McAllen's population was 142,210. It is the fifth-most populous metropolitan area (McAllen-Edinburg-Mission) in the state of Texas, and the binational Reynosa-McAllen metropolitan area counts a population of more than 1.5 million.
From its settlement in 1904, the area around McAllen was largely rural and agricultural in character, but the latter half of the 20th century had steady growth, which has continued in the 21st century in the metropolitan area. The introduction of the maquiladora economy and the North American Free Trade Association led to an increase in cross-border trading with Mexico.
The thing I noticed most is how clean downtown is.
IT'S A SUNDAY OTHERWISE THE TOUR WOULDN'T BE MOVING NEARLY AS FAST. MCALLEN IS AN EXCEPTIONALLY CLEAN CITY. (WAS BORN THERE IN 37)
Hola esta ciudad está serca de macalles
I am from Oklahoma, but all of my family on both sides are from the Rio Grande Valley. My father graduated from McAllen High School and my mother graduated from Edinburg High School. I live in Pharr for a year back in 1989 when I was 12. Thank you for these videos!
Beautiful scenery with all of the palm trees.
3:07 My aunt says there's a store there on the left side that sells colchas similar to the infamous San Marcos brand. Don't know which one exactly, but it's there on that block. Hopefully one day I'll go and see if it's true.
I never been to McAllen TX but my little brother been there before for a football game
Very very clean town
lindo vídeo e boa sorte
Si seves muy limpias ciudad
1)Wonder why some of the traffic signals wasn’t working?
2)If a traffic signal isn’t working, treat the intersection as if it was a four way stop. I imagine most people don’t realize that rule. Which would explain the confusing at the intersections where the traffic signals wasn’t working.
Saw a few large and inexpensive houses in that neck of the woods just too bad the border hasn’t been taken care of in the last couple of years. Hopefully that will change in this town will prosper.
I live here in McAllen, I have no Idea what you are implying.
The illegals go up north to blue cities. Maybe a very very small percentage stay. Prosper, our city in into the millions and millions of dollar every year. Compared to Houston, of course not. Since the 1990s. We still have our mall, built back in 1976! We have an international airport. In September n. 10th, from nolana ave to Dove was being repaved. They do this ever five years for our main thoroughfares, residential 10. We, have a Football stadium and large complex civic center, and all major food venues. And Legal entry from Mexican Nationals, flood downtown, all the city, and the mall, especially during Christmas. And the crime here is very non existent. There some a few a year but not enough for a blip. Due some research.

I hope this peaceful town promotion doesn't attract delinquency or those that steal the peace 🙏
Misleading traffic lights at 3:40, I would assume it's an all-way stop. It should be a yellow flashing light instead.
The way everyone was looking confused I was thinking the lights were malfunctioning.
As soon as this border crisis EVER gets resolved, I would like to see McAllen grow its downtown. Wouldn't it be nice to have a few new skyscrapers in that landscape? They can do that. They also need to annex new land up north. Lots of incredible potential, especially with a new loop freeway several years away.
Supposedly, fixing the border crisis is not going to make it grow. It is all about economics. Bigger cities have a lot more illegal migration heading that way, and they are still growing well.
Skyscrapers 🏙️ is an awful idea.
So called border crisis

Oh my God. My American friend's youtube name is McAllen, and I thought McAllen was a man's name. But it turned out to be the name of a city
MSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSS
Whats up with all that generic bird noise lmao
Generic bird sounds? This is the RGV, birds congregate here year-round. People from all over the country come to the area to bird watch. Best time to come is November through March. I've seen many species of birds, including parrots and parrakeets, in my back yard.
We're right at that migratory corridor for birds who fly south for winter and north after so we tend to get multiple species coming through
