Great job, great video! So much work for a Chamonix run. BTW, that’s the most terrifyingly small diameter climbing rope spaghetti I’ve ever seen. What is that - Spectra, a vinyl wrapped steel cable, or…? Oh yeah, and that rappelling down and down - (and down) through jagged rock, before putting on skis and threading that couloir, is something most folks want to try… NEVER! 😎😹 (though, the “poubelle” chute running down from under the walkway bridge is something some of us have wanted to do since watching “The Edge of Never.” ) Thanks again for the vicarious fun😋Be safe.
That rappel is just getting longer and longer. When I was in cham in the 90’s it was just a rope length, but locals told me that they sometimes could jump down directly from the bridge… less and less snow nowdays.
That's true Peter sometimes you could actually just jusp in, full commitment mind you but it use to be so deep you could basically fall off the bridge into it....
What's so beautiful about the mountains to me is how still everything feels... no plants, no animals, no sounds from anything other than yourself and whoever's with you
skied this coulie in like 2008 - went the wrong way (went straight down instead of to the right after the actual steep bit) and got lost for hours - had to hike out back to the station haha great memories :)
Do you mean you went right after the first couloir? Isn’t there a dangerous glacier down there? Can you descend (even on foot) that way? I can’t find a video that shows this and I would like to know. Thanks
I've decided that there are some things I don't need to do in my life anymore... swimming with tiger sharks, servicing reactors in Fukushima, landing a Cessna on the Red Square in Moscow and riding that ..hmmm.. ski slope.
Glad I watched it to the end, for most of the video I was thinking fuck no! That’s not fun, although once the got to the end I bet no one said, cool, let’s go back and do that again 😂
@@humanbeing2420 Uhhhh, well, those turns were survival turns. No flow. No jam. Just scrape a whole bunch of snow out of the couloir and get to the bottom. No style. No flair. No gung-ho. Ever heard of Candide Thovex? Or Micah Black? Or Travis Rice? Style points count. Don’t get me wrong, I’m stoked for their descent, safe, controlled , live to ski again. But was it really video material? Ski that thing! Ride those boards like you stole them. Cross the finish line upside down and on fire!
@@wdaniel9 I get what you mean, although I don't watch enough professional extreme skiing to know names, but I think your point would apply if this had been professionally filmed from another vantage point as opposed to just some Go Pro helmet-cam footage.
Don’t really understand the point. Work your ass off to get to that spot and then just scrape your way down the mountain? It totally misses the entire essence of what makes skiing fun. 🤷♂️
Such beautiful terrain and setting. Wow, feels like a bucket list item. Joy in the simple act of watching. Thank you for posting this.
Magnifique! Now I understand why people learn to ski!

The skill of these people is incredible 👍👍
balls of steel

Eventually it won't be skiable at all.

I had no idea. So this was ice made underneath?

Wauu super 😂😊
Bon petit délire qd on connaît les lieux ; j aurais jamais osé! 👍
Was awesome to watch, especially the last stretch
Hard to believe that in 1978 it use to be a 10m rap off the bridge and an easy hip deep ski down to the tunnel....
i love this so much, and this is sparta
Great video.
Mountaineering in ski boots is just nuts.
Couillus.. et veinards! Bravo
Were the lifts not working that day?! Only kidding - v nice video..
What Is the price of their insurance?
looks less like skiing and more like survival i suppose this is fun for someone
Maravilloso!
this person lives in a different universe than I do holy f.
There is insanity and just above : this
Incredible.!!! ❤
Awesome adventure :)
Yeah… that’s not skiing in my books anymore 😂
Pure joy!!
unbelievable, just to get out of paying for the return* trip on the cable car. * retour
Respect for you
Impressive but still crazy
easy and smooth
All due respect, MAKE SOME TURNS!
As opposed to what? He was making turns all the way down.

Actually, I've seen Candide Thovex's skiing - that guy is on a whole other level. Insane.
Veinard ❤😊
Great fun, being careful.
7:20 🤪
bravo - jealous
Joli !
F*ck me...
I could barely breathe up there coming on the cable car...
This is insane...
Terrifiant carrément
Why?
Gnarly
Zabardast!!!

Go straight down!!!
Con una neve così......TOP
It‘s called skiing rather than stopping - keep it up and you’ll get there!
what's the point? nice video!
Too much work at the start, but the run starting at 7:30 looked really fun.
Where is the fun? Stressful descent that's only done to let other people watch how cool it is. Generation Red Bull.
Amazing 😀😊
Totaly nuts

These guys are also climbers and hikers. If you only like skiing then yeah, you'll never understand the point.
......qua ?........
