    Growing up I only heard his voice and just assumed the jokes were right. That he wasn't a sharp guy, to put it nicely. But hearing his words now, the man is sharp as a tack. He has deep knowledge and concentration. It's a shame people made fun of him for his voice, because his words were very worth listening to.

      you can never succeed in any field if you are not smart. the greatest athletes of all time all had great spirituality and intellectual level. people tend to think sports is all about the physique, but most of it really has to do with mentality. and Mike Tyson had a great mentality and spirituality

    • @fadethetrade
      @fadethetrade 10 років тому +21

      Not mentally, He abandoned 4 skills damato insisted he needed that he abandoned in 89. head movement all the time, being in angles punching where the opponent cant punch back,jab,combination punching.Mentally ,he just couldnt put it together anymore because he abandoned the damato camp. That was the only place with rooney that would have maintained his important 4 skills.

    • @chrisavalon9926
      @chrisavalon9926 9 років тому +2

      that is completely false but popular to say among tyson fans. in his rematch with bruno after prison that is the exact same tyson that fought bruno the first time. you watch both fights and they look nearly identical apart from the fact tyson knocked him out faster in the rematch. his movement and everything was the same. it was the same guy.

    • @fadethetrade
      @fadethetrade 9 років тому +5

      Probably the same but the tyson of 89 vs bruno had some stamina left over from the rooney days that he totally lost post jail.Damato always maintained to fight the right style,you need the stamina and timing from fighting every 3 months and living in the gym between fights. It's a full time job and tyson took it as a very part time job after 1988.

    • @fadethetrade
      @fadethetrade 9 років тому +8

      His decline in 89 was just as good as dead.
      That;s the problem.The program he followed was over in mid 88.
      Everything after was tyson with no guidance on fighting properly as taught by damato.
      Once tyson used the damato techniques from 85-88, he became by mid 87, virtually unbeatable in ANY ROUND of ALL his fights.
      The best an opponent did was grab for dear life and lose all 12 rounds.
      With equal opposition in Bruno,Tillman, stewart,ruddock,his performances was less and off par as compared to pre 89.
      These post 88 opponnts were at equal level of tysons past opponents .His performances after 88 showed vulnerability in getting hit more.
      One of damato's serious skill is to NOT get hit while attacking,by using an awkward head and upper body movement in different angles instead of "straight in" as he did after 88.
      .He clearly abandoned the defensive swarming model for a one shot at a time ragefull fighter. No good.

      NO, They both signed to fight in Nov 1991. So what happened? Oh thats right, Mike pulled out of the fight. Let that sink in a minute. Mike pulled out of the fight. Said he "got hurt" in training. Do you remember seeing any X-rays? Me either. Poor baby. Poor poor baby. Everybody gets hurt in training. Guess he didn't want Evander that "BADLY". Gotta think.... he was just scared of Evander. So scared he tried to hide in prison for 3 years hoping Evander would get old and beat up or retire. Which he did after losing to Moorer. But when Evander came out of retirement poor Mike had no other choice but to have to get in the ring with him. And well, we all what happened in those to beat downs don't. Bully got bullied.

      @@30over3 no one wanted ruddock but tyson stepped up and fought twice versus that punching machine. Tyson took bombs from ruddock clean in both fights and got rocked a couple of times but he walked through and wanted a proper tear up. Tysons body attack was sickening in the 2nd fight

      @@30over3 Foreman didnt want the tyson fight. Bob Arum offered Foreman the tyson fight after his loss to holyfield. He offered to pay foreman $10m but foreman declined and said he rather have the holyfield rematch. Thats a fact which bob arum himself spoke about. Tyson never ducked foreman. Thats bs propaganda as DK would of signed tyson to fight foreman had foreman said yes to arum

    I agree with Mike Tyson fear is a b**** and destroys your movement you got to be clear minded and go for what you want if you fail at least you know that you was game and you was ready for the opportunity any true warrior can live with that but if your mind is not right there always will be excuses if ands or buts true Warriors can't live with that the Good Die Young truth hurts

    He is very knowledge on the fight game. One of his former managers (Bill Cayton, RIP) mentored me as I came up, and I believe he will'd off (or sold) his collection of fights to Mike. I know Mike had access to them growing up and he studied all the pugilists.This is so important for young fighters...they should know their history--very important.

      Some people think most fighters does not afraid of him anymore after he lost to Douglas... well, Alex Stewart went 12 rounds against Holyfield and Foreman, and he lost to Tyson in few secs. Henry Tillman beat Tyson twice in amateur and was KO'd brutally in few secs.
      Ruddock did not afraid of Mike and Mike proof he's not afraid of a guy who's not afraid of him .
      Mike did look scary in this video for some reason, more scary than he used too.
